  1. I bought one because it has the M1014 barrel, which is a fixed-choke design in "Modified". No choke-tubes to mess with. Mine makes ragged holes at 25 yards with slugs, and at 50 yards palm-sized groups from the seated/kneeling position. Buckshot patterns average around 75% on-target (12x12") at 25 yards, or so. I really like it. It is the 4th M4 I have owned, and my final one. It has all the goodies. Carriercomp mag-tube. Black Ti/A2 bolt-hangle. Custom bolt-release. Carriercomp mag-spring and follower. Geissele hammer. Meprolite night sights. Basically, it is a KISS shotgun with what appear to be very minor tweaks designed to enhance its function rather than a bunch of heavy crap designed to look cool in front of a mirror.
  2. GOOD FOR HIM! Glad to hear that!
  3. Wait, I don't know if you can even add a normal capacity mag tube to the M4 in Cali. Anyone know? PS. Do you own an LSX equipped vehicle?
  4. Just vouching for OP, he can be taken at his word, great guy to deal with!
  5. Un-burned powder burning off. Maybe the ammo got humid/wet/whatever, but it's a delayed powder burn, or maybe some lubricant he was using that was super volatile got into the chamber area or something.
  6. Thanks, Kip! Both for your service, and your acting as an awesome enabler to our Benelli habit!
  7. From what I understand, adhesive that lets go beyond the temper point of aluminum. I suspect it is the same stuff that secures the barrel extension. That is just speculation. I know though that only a couple of people have done it, and many others have opted not to.
  8. Buy a Briley speed wrench and some choke-tube grease. Set the OEM wrench on the shelf or throw it away.
  9. The magazine? Yeah, G2G. The recoil tube? That's a PITA and I wouldn't mess with it, personally.
  10. If they don't, it becomes interstate firearm fraud/theft, etc. You save your communications. You place a tracking/delivery confirmation number on it. The USPS money-order's largest amount is $1K, you may need more than one. They can confirm that it has been cashed, 3 months afterward, I think it is. LE takes fraud very seriously when it involves a firearm. Always use Priority mail. Always use delivery confirmation. Always look into the seller's past history, if available.
  11. Loctite 243, or 242 WITH PRIMER is required for this application (bonding Ti to anodized Al).

    GG&G recall

Kindof makes buying things from people who do extensive T&E before selling items not so bad, huh?
  13. I used a 357SIG gold-dot loaded round. It worked flawlessly.
  14. Grants, loans, credit-cards. Oh, his family wasn't exactly poor, either. My former roommate with no job at times managed big-screen TV's, Tag watches, a few Glocks and an H&K USP or two, and a Corvette, all working part-time at a clothing store on and off while in college, lol. Yes, he has some debt now...
  15. Unfortunately, yes. The loss of life and limb and justice for the individual should be the main concern of political figures at this time, not how to somehow wrangle a way to prevent guns in already "gun-free zones".
  16. You're just saying that because you're a government plant, one of thousands, placed on gunboards masquerading as a firearm owner and pushing Eric Holder's agenda by trying to shuffle suspicion away from their operations. Oh crap. I blew my cover, too, as you were taking my side.
  17. I just got a phone-call last night. One of my best friend's friends shot himself in the head with the G19 my friend sold him a year ago. He was a smart guy, applying to Med school, great future, NO OUTWARD SIGNS of ANYTHING being wrong. Sometimes, people just don't work out in their own mind, and bad things happen. Looking too hard into anything is going to cause you problems. For example, maybe this forum was created to log our IP's so that when shotguns like our M4 are banned, they can come after us. It's all a conspiracy! I mean, give it a break sometimes. I could make you into the antichrist if I looked through your posts and picked here and there long enough. Anyone could assume anything, and then create a chain of evidence for it.
  18. No. We had our own in my town. Except it was much smaller. Just a glock, a gym, and a girlfriend. Then himself after a short police-chase. Med student. I think this is what it is. The gun-grabbers trying to blame the assault rifle are just as nutty as the other half trying to blame "some government conspirator who helped him" or whatever the current rage is.
  19. Kip's products are very popular, and not just on this forum.
  20. I only have one (and one M1014) as well. I think it's a dick move to order more than you plan on using when it comes to items that are non-consumable/won't wear out, and that are in short supply.
  21. WTS: Black Carrier Comp Ti bolt-handles. 10 available! $120 (each) shipped. I jest, I jest!
  22. The fact that it attaches with a screw, interfacing with a part that also screws into another part.
  23. The M4 really doesn't kick that bad, but the Mesa Urbino w/Limbsaver will make it kick even less, if you can get over what I consider a sub-standard attachment system.
  24. The M4S90/M1014 has a lot of uses, but I'm not sure it was the optimal choice for this purpose.
  25. None of those 3 PM's you sent me made it past my inbox, BigHat. Just an FYI. Nor did I discuss them with anyone except in this thread where you can see it. Now, as to your issue with Kip. You say he misled you by claiming to have shipped it sooner than he really did. BigHat, is it possible that Kip was shipping more than 1 item that week, and that maybe he thought he had shipped yours, but had not? You go to the post-office with half a dozen or a dozen or whatever of the day's mag-tubes, ship them, wash-rinse-repeat over the next few days, and I am sure you can see how a human being might get confused as to who they had shipped to and on what day. He was off by a few days, and you have held a grudge for YEARS over it. I can understand if you didn't get "in on that batch", and it was another 6 weeks or something, but it was just a few days and well within the "Sorry, I'm human" realm of understanding. Also, BigHat, I am not going to excuse USPS, either, because I have "shipped" something to someone only to get very angry and childish e-mails from them 1.5 weeks later. A tracer was put on the package and do you know where it was? At the same damn place I left it. The post-office in MY town. I was livid at USPS, because I had drop-shipped that person a 100% new item direct from the manufacturer at MY cost to calm their whiny arse down. They then took THAT item, and hte one I sent, and "picked the best one" (as they both arrived within a day of each other, ironically). They sent me back the one that they managed to put a scratch on, screw me. (No, it wasn't BigHat or anyone on this forum, for anyone thinking this is some kind of back-handed jab at someone). I have had things from USPS take over a month to arrive in the CONUS. I am talking simple envelopes. Duggan mailed me a check for a Malkoff module once. It took 31 days to reach me. We both live CONUS, and not on opposite sides, either. Am I saying it was USPS? No. I'm not saying it wasn't, either, though. I am saying that as you and everyone else knows, Kip will mail several tubes a day for a week or two when finishing up a batch. So he told you wrong on the day he shipped yours, thinking yours was in that bundle. I'm sorry, but you're going to go on and on about this for OVER A YEAR? Over a minor mistake that added a hair over a week to the delivery time, including 1 weekend? BigHat, why not go after someone else? Like Surefire, or AAC, or someone else? I'll tell you why you don't. Everyone would laugh at you. It's well known that companies producing this kind of stuff have set-backs and cancel projects all the time. That's why the term "Vaporware" exists. Setbacks and delays are NOTHING SPECIAL in this industry. Yeah, it's annoying as ****, I grant that freely, but it's not like Kip is somehow an industry aberration. The only thing aberrant about him is how responsive he is to the requests of his customers. Fully over half of the items he is selling are a DIRECT result of input from THIS forum, and mainly from less than a dozen people on this forum. You can complain all you want about how "slow" he is to market things, but he was the first to market with a Ti handle to replace the one Design Concepts made. He was the first to market with a Ti tube, and still makes the sturdiest one. He is the ONLY one to market with a correct 1913 rail. When he determined that he did not want to under-take the hammer himself, he got quite possibly one of the best FCG component manufacturers in the world--geissele--to bring it to market. It was the first of its kind to market. I'm sorry, but your assertion that he is somehow "worse" than other companies about promising without delivery just doesn't stand up when you look at his track record. You obviously want to deal more with a business man than an engineer. I suggest you do that, and in turn, you will sacrifice quality for speed of delivery and a more efficient business model. It's give/take, and right now, there is noone in this industry that makes these parts that combines the two, in my opinion.
