  1. well **** that aint too bad. But your saying my modified could work? will it give me the same pattern as if I were to use an IC choke? also i dont want it to blow my choke out of my barrel.. im just nervous about using a mod choke.
  2. yeah.. damn! I figured the rifled choke was too good to be true. Wel i purchased some remmy saboted slugs and I think as soon as my scope gets here im going to throw a couple through it and see what i get. But if i dont get good groups at 100 yards then im prolly just going to switch straight to the truballs.. or to the brenneke rifled. But about how much would a ic choke go for these days.
  3. 3 or 3.5.. imo.. bigger is better. go with the sbeII you cant go wrong.
  4. REally?!?! I just went and bought a rifled choke tube! damn! I live in the appalachan mountains in va. The farthest shot I will ever have to take is about 100. There is very little fields where I live, mostly just thick woods. But your saying that these truballs are the real deal? Damn, so be straight with me here. Am I going to get better results with truball/IC or Sabots/Rifled. Anyone!?!
  5. ohh well i stopped looking on the chart after the loads got lighter than 2 oz. I wont shoot anything less than 2 oz. Makes me feel more comfortable and I like the recoil it gives off. i also understand that the density plays a big part, but if both sizes were shot with the same density, (25-30 pellets) inside the target, then id feel better with the larger shot size. That is why im looking for the best pattern. Maybe I will try the 6's after i test shot patterns of the 4's.
  6. yeah no ****... but even federals website doesnt recommend the use of 7's when turkey hunting. unless of course your using a 10 gauge.. which i dont really have a problem with...but i am still a big fan of the 4 catagory.
  7. im not doubting that the product exists. Im just saying why the **** would you turkey hunt with 7's!!!
  8. i was even suprised hearing about 6's being used for turkey! learn something everyday i guesss
  9. dont waterfowl much partially because i live in southwest Va and dont really have many places to go. But i own a 28" inch barrelled supernova and couldnt be happier. It out patterns my buddies mossberg hands down which has a 20 inch barrel! haha
  10. maybe im misunderstanding you. 7's?? Ive never used anything smaller than 5! can you really hunt turkey with 7 shot!
  11. damn those are some good patterns. thanks guys.. but those nitros can be some expensive stuff. I used winchester 3 1/2 inchers last year and they worked okay but they didnt look like the patterns you all have shown me. Thanks fellas but i dont know if I can shell out that kind of doe..
  12. well i figured with the rifled choke tube, the truball wouldnt be as effective. I figured i would need an IC or a MOD choke to get the best results with those.
  13. well ive heard wonderful things about SST's and decided to contact hornady about their ammo. THey sent me an email back and said strickly... DO NOT USE THESE SLUGS IN A RIFLED CHOKE BECAUSE THE SLUG WILL NOT STABILIZE. ONLY FOR RIFLED SLUG BARRELS ONLY! i was like.. okay.. thank you. ill just go buy brenneke or remmy! bastards. haha
  14. I have a benelli supernova with a carlsons rifled choke tube and I was wondering if anyone has tried this setup and what slugs would be best to shoot out of this combo. I contacted hornady (the bastards) and they told me strickly Their saboted slugs would not stabalize and DO not shoot them out of my choke. I continued to contact carlsons the next day and they said their choke was made of a high grade material and would withstand anything (speed, size, consistancy) if it said slug on the box. I was wondering if Any of you have tried the remmy accutip slugs yet? Thanks
  15. yeah dude post some of your patterns, im curious to how it works out
  16. Well I have looked over just about all the possiblities and I did find a nikon with everything i want. And cheaper.. But I have looked at many different sites containing this scope. Its a Nikon Prostaff Shotgun hunter 2-7X32 but some said the scope was shockproof and some didnt. I Dont know who is telling the truth or not. I was wondering if you guys have tried or heard of this scope. Is it shockproof? Is it worth 130$
  17. but i not only want to hunt turkey with this, but i planned on deer thumping with this setup. I will need some zoom IMO. Just so I can see the deer's vitals at 60-80 yards. I found a bushnell Dusk/Dawn shotgun scope and everything was perfect. Except the reviews. I didnt like the way people were talking about how inaccurate it was and how it was impossible to sight in correctly. What do you guys think. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602006-cat20760&id=0024531711682a&navCount=38&podId=0024531&parentId=cat20760&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=XK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20760&hasJS=true
  18. contact your local gun dealer. Ask them if they have one and if not, get them to order it for you from benelli. Or call benelli and ask where you might be able to find one... OR advertise on the internet that your wanting to buy a 18.5 inch ghost ring barrel.
  19. WTF! get the **** outta here! haha.. anyway to the other serious replies... Thanks for all your feed back. I dont really like the fact that batteries are necessary for red dots and that they dont zoom at all. I will be deer hunting and turkey hunting. the reason I chose this scope is the reticle and eye relief. The recticle is a Circle-X which means regular ordinary crosshairs with a circle in the midde that joins the 4 crosses.I was hoping to use the crosshairs as a guidline for where my slug is going to hit, and the circle for a guidline for where my group of shot will end up when I shoot at turkeys.
  20. okie dokie. Thank you for your help. I just wanted to know what you thought of it. Thanks
  21. yeah that is what i was afraid of. I know an inch is alot but the Bushnell scope I was looking at has a 4.1 clearance and the nikon you showed me had a 5 inch. My gun doesnt kick hard at all and I just wanted to know if A rifle scope was okay.. and if so would 4.1 be enough. I dont want to get my bell rung. Ive had it done before. LEupold does make the best scope in my opinion. But they are so damned expensive and my nelli is a smoothbore with a rifled choke and I dont expect it to give me pin point accuracy anyway. I just want something cheep that will hold its aim point when shoot heavy loads like 3" slugs.. or 3 and 1/2" turkey loads. It says on the website that the bushnell is completely shockproof and waterproof. So i figured I would go with that. Just seeing what you guys thought.
  22. I have a benelli supernova (as you all may have noticed from my countless posts on other sections because I am an idiot) and Im having it drilled and tapped as we speak and I am using a 423m weaver style mount but I have a small problem. I CANT find the scope i want! I have found some really nice "riflescopes" but I dont know if they will go on my shotgun. I wanted something in the range of 2-7X32 or maybe a 1.75-4X32. I wanted this type of thing because not only do I turkey hunt with this gun, I also deer hunt with slugs in a smoothbore barrel so If i can get a scope that will let me see plain out to about 80 yards but will let me zoom out to see clear enough at 20 to kill a turkey then it will be the scope for me. I just want something that is shock resistant and something that wont smack my eye everytime I shoot! Thank you all for your help and time. I was actually looking at a bushnell trophy.. http://www.bushnell.com/products/scopes ... hy/731421/
  23. hehe i dont know.. but i shot some cheepo winchesters out of it and they were pretty accurate to be cheepos. I emailed carlson with that question and they said either sabots or rifled slugs were fine in their rifled choke.
  24. I have a 28" barreled supernova. works fine for me, but im looking for GREAT! and not just fine.
