  1. But spell Benelli and completed incorrectly in the title of your own thread? Careless, ignorant, or excited? Excuses. Makes me question if there were any "extra" pieces after it was assembled.

this is a gun fourm not a spelling bee contest.

I cant spell for poop but trust me you are no better than me.

  2. I'll go one better than that. We can have everything (machineguns, short-barreled rifles, destructive devices, AOW's) here in Indiana but short-barreled shotguns. To make matters even worse, we can own AOW shotguns (which have short barrels and pistol grips). Which is easier to conceal, a 14" barreled shotgun with a pistol grip or a 14" barreled shotgun with a buttstock? Add a stock and we can't own it. LOL!

    Now that is just crazy:confused:

  3. Monkey has articulated the NFA-BATFE registration requirements and penalties associated with this issue. At this point we're just pissing in the wind as it is what it is.

However from a practical stand point for the average law abiding gun owner, and those of us with a Concealed Weapon or Firearm License the chances of an LE searching your home for a NFA violation are almost nonexistent.

For the sake of discussion, we purchase a 14 inch barrel from H&Kp2000 while he has them available. Upon receipt we lock the barrel in the safe along with our other guns. We then make application as an individual or go the NFA Gun Trust route. The 14 inch barrel remains in the safe until you receive the stamped BATFE approval. Are we breaking the law yes, however unless you are stupid enough to advertise the fact that you are in possession of a non approved NFA barrel the chances of LE involvement is not going to happen.

I would be more concerned after approval is granted that my newly configured M4 SBS is involved in the protection of my person or family from a home invasion. You mow down the bad guys and survive. Law enforcement takes your M4 SBS as evidence. Depending on the situation could be weeks, months, or longer before it is returned to you. The attorney's and the media distort the facts that you were using a weapon of mass destruction to defend yourself and family. Yeah I know it's approved but the liberal pukes will still have a field day.

Do we need a Benelli M4 14 inch SBS probably not unless we are heavily involved in CQB. Do they elevate the coolness factor you bet. Are they worth $1000+ depends on your individual price point.

LOL, sounds kinda silly but I only buy guns that are cool IMO. and a 14inch M4 is way cool, lol.

I do agree with you probably not getting in trouble but as said by monkey it is against the law.

on anothe note no police other than friends have ever been in my house and probably never will so are you safe I would guess most are.

  4. Here's a hypothetical. What if you have two M4's, one in standard 18.5" configuration and one entry model SBS that IS registered. Can you legally possess a second SBS barrel since you already have a registered SBS? Just food for thought.

beats me,lol If the NFA stuff is that tight like monkey said i would only "guess" no.

  5. Sounds like several people here don't know much about the NFA.

A short barrel is just a part, yes. Completely unregulated. However, if you also possess a compatible firearm and no path to the legal use of that short barrel, then you are in violation under Constructive Possession. A disassembled short-barreled shotgun and an assembled short-barrel shotgun are precisely the same thing under the law.

See US v Thompson/Center Arms Co. This case affirms Constructive Possession for NFA firearms, however it clarifies that CP does not apply if there is a legal pathway for the use of the NFA-specific part.

In other words, hypothetically, if you owned a complete M4 shotgun and bought and possessed this 14" M4 barrel, then, without an approved Form 1 for the SBS, you would have no legal path to the use of that 14" M4 barrel and would therefore be in violation under CP. Your actual intent behind possessing and using the barrel is irrelevant to the charge.

This applies to NFA firearms across the board, to include full-auto fire control parts and a compatible semi-auto firearm. If they catch you with a semi-auto AR15 and a set of M16 fire control parts in your possession, even if not installed in the rifle, CP allows LE to disassemble your AR, install those M16 parts and try to make the rifle fire a second round with a single trigger pull (which is easy to do). When they are successful, you can be arrested and charged with possession of an unregistered machine gun.

    That's how it works.

The only exception to this are "silencers", which have no CP applicability simply because an individual suppressor part (tube, baffle, end cap, etc) is defined as a "silencer" by itself.

And there is plenty of case law to back up CP as it pertains to NFA, both state and fed. Seek it out and read it before concluding it's not real.

as much as it sounds silly this is almost what my FFL said.

So I have to agree that you can not have the barrel around the M4. what I didnt ask was can I have the barrel if you are starting the process?

I have to do the trust and this whole thing is gonna take forever.

  6. What I was told by a Class III dealer here is that it would be in my best interest to keep the barrel in a different location than the gun I was going to convert. Ideally, you are supposed to begin the NFA process before you acquire parts and do any assembly. Once you have paperwork in-hand, get your parts and go at it. That said, he also told me that having the barrel is not really a big deal. I can keep it in my shop and if my M4 lives in the house, then I'm fine.

I feel pretty comfortable since I have an extended mag tube on my M4. As long as it stays configured that way, I couldn't put a short barrel on there anyway. On the outside chance that I might get a visit, it would be pretty clear that I couldn't use the short barrel without a bit of work.

I can agree with this as less hassel this way but I do not "think" you can get in trouble for just a barrel. I am asking my FFL right now (just sent email) so I will see what he says

  7. What you are suggesting is a felony under "Constructive Possession". A disassembled SBS that is in your possession is the same condition as an assembled SBS under this legal doctrine.

Leaving the barrel at your friends house would avoid the CP issue, but unless you are planning to Form 1 the SBS, then what's the point?

Ya I dont buy that. But hey I am no laywer.

  8. Your shotgun needs to be registered as a short barreled shotgun for you to put it on. I think that you would need to store that part at a separate location until your paperwork comes in.

you dont need the barrel at a different location. it is not a SBS if the barrel is not on the gun. It is just a barrel setting in your safe. If LE is in your house asking why you have a lil barrel you have more to worrie about I would guess. I probably would leave it somewhere else just to stop you from putting it on real quick and posting pics on the net,lol

  9.

Ya no **** you just made the math a no brainer. Your option is best. unless you have the cash to buy another gun set it up and then pay to cut it down to 14"s **** no I dont I am broke. PM comming.

  10. A grand is the going rate for any length M4 barrel unfortunately.

funny I came up here to ask and look that up. I can get mine cut for 250 but some reas0on i want to have a 18.5 also. I can throw out another 5-600 and have a complete gun. Im gonna have to do the math in all different ways to figure out whats best for me.

  11. I'd love to but $1025 is too much. Maybe $500 but even that is a lot for a little 14" barrel.

Ya no **** 1025 thats almost another shot gun.

just like the cstock i will wait untill price is somewhat fair.

you all called me crazy and what not when i said 350 for a c stock and then 4 months later they cost 225. call me crazy again but I agree on $500 being fair and a bit fair on the sellers side.

all that said thanks for at least getting this stuff HK

  12. No FFL Required but ALL NFA Rules apply

what the **** are you selling now? I swear you are the secrete benelli connection. If its barrels PM me price please

  13. its most likely a pic ol Hk-Pirate pulled from the net!!:D cause he lives in COMMIFORNIA and IS NOT aloud to own such a nice weapon!!;)

LOL there are legal ways to own just about everthing in California including SBS.

either way thoes lil M4s look great.

  14. pix12984500.jpg

thats no 14" where did you get that if you dont mind me asking? 14" is sweet but after seeing yours and the other pic WOW do they look better. Of coarse i am just going off the cool/looks factor.

and to be honest thats why i buy guns cuz I think they are cool, lol

  15. I just got my load of parts from Freedom Fighter. I looked at their site and called their number, and did the order on the phone. Got a Ti tube, knob, follower, forarm and spring. I had to have the gunsmith remove the original tube, so he just did it all for me while it was there. Took it out shooting this weekend and it was rock solid. Despite being a somewhat experienced shotgunner, I'm fairly new to the M4, as I had only shot one a few times before getting mine. Todd at Freedom was great to talk to about outfitting this bad boy, and I had my parts in about two days after I ordered, which was kind of amazing. Oh, I went with the 1/2 titanium knob, and it is far superior to the original component.

    Pictures?

I know you guys will say its just another M4 but i cant help seeing or wanting to see them

  16. From what I've heard, you have more options going with KingArmory is probably the best way to go. You have additional options. I've heard they can do a 10" barrel. Basically you'd have the mag cap right at the end of the forearm.

I would love to see a 10" conversion. My guess is 4 shells max. Not sure if trading size for rounds is worth it? But the cool factor is way up there, lol

  17. Are 14" m4 available at all? I heard they were imported as full length barrels with the sight already set for a 14" length barrel and they are cut down in the states? Does anyone have one? Is a 14" m4 factory or are people cutting down their m4 with gunsmiths and registering them as sbs? Any help would be appreciated. I have a m4 now and Im looking for a 14" model. Thanks ahead.

you can buy one from factory that way. kinda hard to find I think?

you can find a barrel on gun broker but cost a lot of cash($1000). texas sheeter got his this way. Or you can send to king armory to cut yours down for 250 bucks. best option IMO. I belive they do alot and have it down no problems from what I read

  18. I was gonna say you shot 5 duplex slugs thats about $15 bucks, lol. I need to shoot a few of mine just to know the feel.

got any pictures of the cylnder you blasted.

I would of thought the duplex would be good on softer human type stuff and not so good on metal objects due to the lil peddal things. good to know.
