  1. Well crud...for some reason I'm having a hard time making up my mind up on which light to get for my M4. I think i'm leaning toward the X300 as it probably has more versatility to use on other weapons (ie pistols). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any bad experiences with either setup? Peace http://www.surefire.com/Scout-Lightsupsup http://www.surefire.com/X300-LED-WeaponLight
  2. I searched for this but couldn't find an answer. Below is a list of the items that one has the option of replacing to be compliant with 922R. Does anyone know how this list gets determined? I mean, the follower, for example, seems like a pretty minor and insignificant component but it qualifies as a changeable part. So why isn't the charging handle or bolt release button or rear sight, or top rail, for example, on this list as well? Insights appreciated. Peace 1) Receiver 2) Barrel 3) Bolt 4) Bolt Carrier 5) Gas Piston 6) Trigger Housing 7) Trigger 8) Hammer 9) Disconnector 10) Buttstocks 11) Forearm 12) Magazine body 13) Followers
  3. Thanks but what exactly is it and where do you get it? Can't tell by the picture. Also, which front hand guard is that?
  4. Thanks but way Overkill. Was trying to build a thread of the "more refined" options as my post said.
  5. So I'm trying to find a light mount for my M4. Below is what I've found so far and thought that others may find this useful. Perhaps we can build on this and make it a "sticky?" Anyway, this list favors the smaller more refined clamp options as opposed to the more expensive full rail replacements (figure everyone knows about those...and it's not what I'm looking for). 6. Got mine in about 6 weeks
  7. I don't believe you really have this. Please provide pics. Lots and lots of pics!
  8. Done...got it! Little ******* was on there pretty good. Thanks all for the help!
  9. PM sent. Still not off yet. Thanks all for the replies! Probably going to be the weekend before I have time to mess with it again. Peace
  10. Hi Folks What the heck is the secret to getting this Mag tube off? I've got one of Kips titanium tubes. I'm following the instructions that were enclosed plus what I've read here but I can't get the old tube to budge to save my life. I've got a Milwawkee heat gun that has two settings. Setting one if around 500 degrees and Kips instructions say to set the gun to a max of 400 degrees. But even at 500 I can't get the temp of the metal beyond 190. So I boosted the gun to level two and am trying to be careful. I've hit 260 on the receiver but I can't get the tube to budge. The receiver is incredibly hot. I'ts making me pretty nervous. I've noticed that I can now see blue loctite on the threads where there was none before. So it appears as if i'm having some luck melting the loctite but still no budge. This thing isn't lefthand thread or anything is it? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. Definitely Pelican. These guys have a great selction and pretty decent prices. They also have a "closed cell" foam option that I haven't seen anywhere else. The standard Pelican foam is open cell which can hold moisture which, of course, leads to rusting. The closed cell is supposed to be better. You can read about it on their site. http://www.casesbypelican.com/pelican_gun_cases.htm With that said, cases like this aren't really designed for long term storage for exactly the reason you mention. For long term storage I would go with a gun safe in a nice dry location. I have one of their 1720 cases with closed cell foam and love it. Cutting the foam took a little time but I actually found it easier to cut than the pelican pick and pluck foam. You need a long sharp knife and some patience. I also found it useful to mark an outline of the gun with some pins and use a yard stick as a cutting guide. Or you can pay them to cut it for you but I looked into it and it wasn't cheap. Peace
  12. Thanks Kip! No further contact is needed on my part. I'm good.
  13. Thanks!...and I'm guessing there's a typo in his status and he means that orders by June 14 will be honored by July 16 (not June 16). Thanks
  14. Hi Folks Anyone heard from Kip lately? The last status on his website is from June 5th. I've sent him a couple emails but haven't gotten a response yet. I placed an order on June 2nd and am just trying to find out what his production time is currently running. I've gotten the impression that his production time is somewhat lengthy?? Anyone know what the norm is for mag tubes? I'm not mad...just anxious Peace
  15. So if I placed my order on 6/2, does this mean it should be shipping today? Just wasn't quite sure what "honored" meant. Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the feedback! And Unobtanium, thanks for the offer but I think I'll go "new". Peace
  17. Hi Folks I did a search and found a little feedback but was hoping for a bit more. Good and bad comments appreciated. And can anyone compare the overall quality to the GG&G one? Also, I believe Kip was working on a Ti handle. Anyone have any info on that? Is it still in the works or did he give up on it? Peace http://www.freedomfightertactical.com/
  18. I'm curious what folks are using to carry higher volumes of shotgun ammo. I'm looking for something that can handle 25 rounds or so, compact, easy to grab and go, easy to access shells but holds them securely. To further clarify, I'm not looking for side saddles or similar low volume carriers that mount to the gun. I've got that covered. I'm also not looking for a traditional bandoleer. Any other suggestions appreciated! Peace
  19. Yup...10 days. It's a wonder we can still buy guns at all in this state.
  20. Hehe...pun intended...on a new M4. That $200 rebate and a decent price from my local was enough to push me off the fence. First time I've bought from this particular shop and they were kind enough to throw in a box of 25 Remington Law Enforcement 00. I gotta say that really struck me as classy. Most of the shops around here (San Diego) are pretty crappy. Just thought it was a nice touch on their part. Now I gotta wait my 10 days. Just sharing Peace
  21. Sometimes it's better to go local and pay a bit more. I inherently like supporting local when I can. You have easier recourse if there ends up being a problem. Plus, once you get done with shipping expense and FFL transfer fees, you may not be saving anything at all. Transfer itself can also be a pain. I've found that many dealers aren't even willing to do a transfer for you if it's on something they sell...even if you give them a shot at matching price. Enjoy!
  22. You definitely won't regret a pelican case. They're rock solid. The link that Tactical Koala gave you is a great place to buy. Prices are pretty good and they seem to have a lot of options that others don't have...including the closed cell foam which doesn't hold moisture like the open cell foam. I looked into having them do the cuts when I got a case from them but I seem to recall it was incredibly expensive (YMMV). Cutting the foam yourself wasn't too terrible although it obviously won't be as precision as paying them to do it. To this end, I almost think it's easier to cut the closed cell foam than the traditional foam. Basically I staked out my pattern in the foam with some pins. Then I removed the gun, lined a ruler up against the pins, removed the pins and made the cut. I used a thin sharp knife and it needs to be fairly long since the foam is thick. The key is be patient and go slow. Also try to stand directly above your cutting to help keep the blade vertical. Peace
  23. Wow...very impressive video. Anyone know what guns they're shooting? M4's? FN's? I'm also amazed at how little muzzle rize there is. Are these guys shooting light loads or are they just that good at controlling recoil? Peace
  24. Since you only get two, i would definitely go with one of the high end 1911 45's like a Wilson or something. But I'm pretty partial to the 1911. Your mileage may vary. And yea, a nice hi cap 40 would be nice although I am most definitely not a Glock fan. Perhaps a Sig, or something in the HK line. Hear good things about the M&P too. I also think you're caliber choices are the right decision...or swap a 9mm for the 40 because it's prob a bit cheaper. Anything larger for stopping power doesn't make sense to me. If you need more than a 45, i'd switch to a long gun. Peace
  25. Um...just what exactly is a "Tactical Koala?" Sorry...that just cracked me up!
