  1. There was another post on here recently and the consensus seemed to be that some M4's can be challenging to unload using the shell release lever method. I know mine is. It's well broken in and while having never been accused of being a genius, I am of average intelligence and strength. YMMV Peace
  2. Did you search? There's plenty on this topic already.
  3. Mine was probably one of the toughest to get off that I've read about. That thing was on there. Heat gun, strap wrench and a vice to hold the gun were all critical. I couldn't hold the gun tight enough by hand. Glad it went well for you.
  4. I have the KZ 3. It's solid and well made. The downside to it is that you have to remove it to break down the gun and it's kind of a pain because of the numerous allen head screws. But it works well. If you're worried about your finish I would recommend going to Home Depot and buying a can of Plasti Dip. I think that was it. It's usually in the paint section and you can pretty much dip anything in it and come out with a nice rubberized cover. A can is about $8 I think. You'll probably find a bunch of other uses for it too. You may also want to rethink mounting the light on the bottom. It will likely be hard to activate under the gun unless you also go with a remote switch of some sort. Mounting on the side right in front of the grip makes it very easy to control with your thumb. Oh wait...you said TRL-1 or X300...I'm not familiar with the swtiches on those so maybe under will work. I have a 6P LED mounted on mine and it would be tough to activate it underneath. Peace
  5. Wonder why the muted Ti color is coming out first. Seems like the black would be in greater demand. No?? Great news though! Anyone know how much longer for the black?
  6. Unfortunately, not all of the US is like this. Can't have them in California...grrrrrrr too.
  7. You are definitely an awesome GF for wanting to do this. Respectfully, however, there are some things in this world that just should not be given without consulting the person who it is being given to. A gun is most certainly one of these things. It's an incredibly personal decision. And I don't mean personal from an emotional standpoint. I mean from a functional standpoint. How it feels, how it's balanced, how the weapon shoulders, the positioning of the controls, etc. These things simply cannot be evaluated for another person...and should not. Especially if this gun will ever serve in a personal defense role...which you mentioned it will. It also seems clear that you don't have enough information about what he really wants. Does he want a gun he can hunt with or shoot clays with? Does he want a gun he can compete with? Does he want a kickass tactical gun? Does he want a gun that can serve multiple roles? What is HIS definition of "play with and enjoy?" You also mentioned one very key point that tells me more than anything that you should not be making the final decision. You said, "I don't know a whole lot about guns." I'm not trying to be mean here. What you're doing is awesome and he will love you like crazy for it. I just don't think you're equipped to make this decision for him...even if I thought it was a good idea (per my comments above) Your thinking that it will have so much more meaning to him if you pick it out probably isn't true. I know that's how women think. And if we were talking about a tie or something here, you'd probably be right. Trust me...he will be ECSTATIC that you are doing this for him! A gift certificate or you telling him that you want to take him shopping for his new shotgun will have just as much meaning...I promise you. And it might actually mean more to him for you to go with him to the gun store to compare the M2 and M4 and make the final decision together. It's something the two of you can share together and a memory that you can create. With that said, here are some of the differences between the M2 and M4...and some comments... Other's have pointed out that the M2 is inertia driven and the M4 is gas. Personally I think the M4 gas system shoots a bit softer than the M2. The M2, however, has the ability to accept different barrels. This could be key if the gun is going to be used for both home defence and clays or hunting. The M4 is strictly a combat shotgun. It comes with an 18.5 inch barrel and they don't make longer barrels for it (generally preferred for hunting and clays). The M4 is also more robust with respect to being able to add sights, lights, lasers, side saddles, etc. The added weight of these things on the M2 may affect its performance. I really don't think there is going to be much of a maintenance difference between these two systems. Not enough to matter anyway (IMO). Why wouldn't the M4 be fun for you to shoot? And why does that matter? I thought this was a gift for him? I'm curious what "enough" gun for him means? And what if you're wrong? I really hope I haven't offended you with any of this. If I did, I'm sorry as it really wasn't my intent. I hope you'll give some thoughtful consideration to what I've said about letting him pick it out. Peace and good luck

    FFT forend review

Just a quick update...I was finally able to get my forend mounted. It took me about 20 minutes on my third session. The solution involved a rather large pair of channel lock pliers. Probably should have used them sooner but I wanted to see if I could get them on without the use of tools. There is no movement in the grips although I do have the squeaking that others have experienced...but not quite as bad. For refernece my factory grips do not squeak. I'm on the fence on whether to keep them or not. I'm really not happy with the fit issues but my desire to be "legal" may outweigh this. FFT wants their customers to be satisfied and will happily exchange them or give me a refund so no issues there. Peace

    Premium Benellis

Well come on! You keep posting these things. How about a little more info? What exactly are we looking at? What models? Any special features on these? Is that real gold inlay on the receivers? How do they shoot? Are these readily available or are they limited editions? Chop/Chop Man!

    FFT forend review

Wow KB Fab...that seems a little harsh to me. He's just giving honest first impressions/opinions on a product a lot of us have been waiting for. Seemed honest and direct to me without slamming FFT. He's under no obligation to check with FFT first and I, for one, appreciate the info...and I will similarly add to it here without contacting FFT first because it's Saturday and I haven't had time. Plus I'm going to assume that the folks at FFT are "big boys" and can take a little constructive and fair evaluation of their new product. I further believe that consumers have a right to know of possible problems...especially on a new product. I will also state that while I don't have much direct experience with the folks at FFT, I have no reason to beleive that they are not fine upstanding people who stand by their product and will make right whatever isn't. I will happily give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise...innocent until proven guilty and all that. Now, with all that said, I could not get my grips on my gun. They are significantly bowed and do not fit. The easiest way I can explain this without pictures becasue I would need four hands...which I don't currently have...is as follows... If you take the factory grips off the gun and align them like they would be when they are on the gun, you will see that the seem on the under side is perfectly aligned...at least mine are. If you do the same with the FFT grips, you will see that they are bowed and do not align properly. At least this is the case with mine. I have tried to squeeze them together to force them to fit just to see if I could get them mounted on the gun but I couldn't even do that. So...that's life. S*%*t happens. It's probably just a glitch with the first production runs. Or I just got a bad one. I'll just contact FFT on Monday and see what they suggest. There...see...information shared. Nobody got hurt. Nobody was called any names. Everyone was polite and professional. That's how I roll Peace
  11. I bet when you find it you'll also find a bunch of socks. They probably all hang out together
  12. Both of the below sites also have good information on 922R. http://freedomfightertactical.com/ http://shop.carriercomp.com/category.sc?categoryId=4
  13. Can't say that I really understand that logic. If my M4 is taken from me by the police because I used it save my life or the lives of my family, they can have it. I'll have more than gotten my money's worth out of it. Peace
  14. I really have no need for a rail. Honestly, I can't figure out what I would ever mount to it besides maybe a light which I already have a setup for. I also like the ergonomics of the regular grip. The surefire is most certainly more expensive. Plus I'd have to buy some sort of covers for the rails while I'm trying to figure out what the heck to use them for because I don't care much for gripping a raw rail. So that's even more money. And yea, $52 seems a little high for this but not much. And I'm certainly not going to ***** about a freight charge that is $2 or $3 more than MAYBE it should be. Peace
  15. If the purpose of the gun is for home defense, it really doesn't make sense to me why a person would keep it unloaded. The amount of time it would take to load it, should you need it, could be the difference between life and death. To be clear, I keep my home defense guns in a quick entry safe. This is opened at night and locked during the day when I'm gone. I live alone and there are no children in the house. Obviously you need to make whatever adjustments are necessary for your own situation to keep things safe. The rest of my guns are kept unloaded.

  17. Yaaaawwwwwwn! I'm bored. What else ya got?
  18. Come on man...if you're going to keep bumping this up, at least entertain us. Tell us a joke or something instead of the same boring message
  19. This and perhaps Mesa Tactical finally releasing their Urbino stock had some impact. The Benelli C stock was really the only option if you needed a shorter stock. Now you can get an Urbino in the $150 range.
  20. Dude...it's as much about the journey as the destination. It's all here. Pull up a beer...sit down...spend a little time with the Search function. You will be well rewarded and probably learn a lot along the way. Come back with your specific questions. Lots of folks willing to help. Including me. Heck, I would have given you a fish if you had just asked about one item. But my god you asked about everything under the sun. So "Teach a man to fish," and all that crap. Peace
  21. Drooling for your charging handle too. Any idea when those will be available?
