What's the usual state of a brand new M4 when purchased from most online dealers? Assembled or not? Is one way "better" than the other?

Here's the reply that I received from the Benelli USA customer service department. Probably not going to do one again..it was a one time deal..hadn't seen one on that gun in 5 years..so no info.. sorry... Alas.

Wouldn't the easiest method be to add up the individual attachments? The manufacturers typically list the item's weight.
