  1. Is it this one from Mesa Tactical? They have several versions. http://www.mesatactical.com/index.php?id=60
  2. Good range ammo = cheap range ammo. Also, if you're going to have a heavy day of shooting, reduced recoil loads aren't a bad idea either as long as they reliably function in your gun. Though it patterns tighter than any buckshot loads I've seen, I don't think the FliteControl ammo is the best buckshot for home defense because its plated shot acts very much like FMJ pistol bullets and penetrates very deeply in ballistic tests. If you want to use buckshot for home defense, I think a load that patterns tightly and utilizes un-plated shot might be a better choice. I keep my M4 loaded with Remington TAC 8 for HD duty. My favorite slug loads are Federal Hydra-Shok, Federal TruBall, and Remington Slugger.
  3. I love my Burris FastFire III optics so much I have them on all three of my tactical shotguns. I use the 8 MOA version on the shotguns. They are fast on target, hold their zero, and, in my experience with them, have held up to the recoil of literally thousands of 12 gauge shells. I'm sold on them.
  4. It's easier to wield one-handed with a pistol grip until you have to do something besides shoot it. Seriously, I still prefer a standard stock. First, I find I can rotate the gun both easier and farther with a standard versus a pistol grip stock which aids in reloading. This is because your hand is closer to the axis of the gun. Second, I find it much easier to accomplish incapacitation drills with a standard stock. To move your hand from the pistol grip to the receiver to manipulate the charging handle (or up to the forend in the case of a pump gun) and back is a slower, clumsier proposition compared to simply sliding your hand up the unobstructed path from the standard stock's grip to the receiver (or forend) and back. That said, I'm not dogmatic and people should use whatever hardware and whatever techniques work best for them.
  5. Way too much of a "sci fi" look for me.
  6. You fellas are awful.
  7. They're cheaper direct from the Benelli Store ($120 for the standard stock) and they'll have them before anyone else. http://store.benelliusa.com/m4-stocks
  8. Done. I "think" I sent you a reply. Let me know if you got it.
  9. Thanks, Zeke! A Happy and Health New Year to you, as well, jsn!
  10. I once shot a student's shotgun whose red dot sight was mounted so high on his rail that my chin was barely contacting the buttstock and it didn't hinder my speed or accuracy. With the mount you are contemplating, I'm sure you won't have an issue with either. Even if it's not ideal for you, it should only take you a few minutes to adapt.
  11. I'm sure it will be fine. The beauty of red dot and holographic sights is that a perfect cheek weld really isn't necessary for accurate shooting.
  12. Thanks, Hookster. Unfortunately, I think politicians are more interested in quantity than content so I hope everyone sends their views in.
  13. You're absolutely correct. They can't continue to buy votes with their plethora of giveaway programs if they're wasting money on school security measures and our mental health system. When I was young, there were state asylums everywhere and the authorities kept them filled. Today the pendulum has swung completely the other way and now we live in a society where madmen are treated at normal people with "rights" who can refuse treatment, and, until they actually kill or maim, they can't be committed. Every one of the last several mass killers had one thing in common; they all had a history of mental illness. Our mental health system is a failure and needs immediate attention.
  14. While this "may" be true, it's conjecture at this juncture, and, though I may be too optimistic, I think this would be too much of a stretch even for the ATF regulators. My shotgun was designed for 2 3/4" and 3" shells; it says as much on the barrel. Further, part of this law includes a long list of "sporting arms" that will be exempted by name. Any semi-auto shotguns on this list could be made to hold more than 10 of these mini-shells which would put their exemption at odds with this premise. In any case, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. My hope is that no new AWB becomes law.
  15. Be my guest, Mr. Shotgun. I'm fine with anything that can possibly stem the tide of more gun control laws.
  16. Glad you're happy with your purchase.
  17. The letter I sent to my representatives: Hello. I am a retired New Jersey State Trooper and strongly oppose Senator Feinstein's proposed "assault weapon" ban that she has indicated she will introduce in the Senate in January. Having spent most of my adult life as a law enforcement officer in a state with very strict gun laws AND an existing assault weapon ban, I can speak with authority when I say that such laws do nothing to prevent or curb violent criminal acts like the murder of those innocent school children in Connecticut. Ironically, Connecticut too has an existing assault weapon ban that has been in force since 1993. All these laws accomplish is to punish law-abiding citizens by putting onerous conditions on their right to own the firearms of their choice. These people and the weapons they own are not who should be targeted with ever more restrictive laws. The tools of the criminal are not the problem; it's the criminals themselves that need to be targeted and better controlled. If we as a nation and you as our elected representative are serious about preventing tragedies like the Connecticut school shooting, you should be working to put trained, armed personnel in our schools, "hardening" our school campuses with proven protective measures like the security fences which have been used so successfully in Israel, and making serious changes to how we treat those mentally ill individuals who have been identified as dangerous to themselves or others. Arming professional school resource officers, hardening school campuses, and making it easier to involuntarily commit dangerous mental patients (something that has become virtually impossible to do today), these are the plans we should be implementing because they will have an actual effect on limiting future tragedies. This is in contrast to laws that attempt to control the madman's tool rather than the madman himself like the previous failed Federal assault weapon ban in the middle of which we suffered the Columbine tragedy. In closing, I strongly urge you to oppose Senator Feinstein's and all other proposed legislation that would restrict, in any way, the right of law-abiding citizens to own any firearms that they are currently able to own. My family, my friends, and I are passionately opposed to any such measures and we vote based on this passion. Thank you for your time and God bless the United States of America.
  18. I have no financial interest in either of these fine organizations, so I'm not going to waste a lot of time on this, however.... Barring the unlikely possibility that you have some inside information on how much T&E each concern actually expends on their products, your statement related to same is simply a WAG. Preferring one supplier's accessories over another's is one thing. Unsubstantiated, negative conjecture regarding how much effort went into the development of one company's products versus another's is something else altogether. It crosses the line of fairness, in my book.
  19. A bit of snobbery, IMO/IME. I have items from both outfits and am equally impressed with the fit and finish and, most importantly, the function of both with the exception of the FFT forearm which, I believe, could use some work.
  20. Have you considered one of the charging handles from Freedom Fighter Tactical? They offer them in steel or titanium, two different diameters, and several finishes. I have their 1/2" diameter steel model and am completely satisfied with it.
  21. The Mesa Tactical model for the M4 doesn't include the foam backing because it doesn't touch the receiver. Those I have on my Remington 870 and Mossberg 930 SPX both came with the protective backing because they make direct contact with the receiver.
  22. I believe he is looking for the standard (non-pistol grip) stock. If that's the case, jsn124, your best bet is to visit the Benelli Store web site every day. Eventually, they'll get them back in stock and they'll be the first to have them. I got mine from them a few weeks before Christmas. http://store.benelliusa.com/m4-stocks
