12 gauge Ballistics question with 1 ounce solid lead slugs ?
Steve Rose replied to blackpowder1's topic in Benelli
Given that the sights are above the bore axis the projectile comes up to meet the line of sight (see the bore axis in the picture) at 2 distances (in your case first at 15 yards) then as gravity takes over the projectile starts to drop to cross the line of sight at some greater distance. Extend your target out to 75-100 yards and you will find that the slug does intersect, then fall below, your sight picture some where beyond 50 yards. -
A SBE 2 barrel will work on your SBE 1. IIRC the slug barrel (for either version) is a little fatter than than the smoothbore barrel so a different forearm (or modification to your forearm) may be needed.

With the firearm pointed is a safe direction, and safety on, perform your test using real ammo. Snap cap are designed to “snap” the hammer or action allowing the hammer or firing pin to fall and spring pressure to be relieved. The snap cap's shape and dimensions may, or may not, cycle through the action of the firearm as live ammo would. There are “dummy rounds” available which replicate the dimensions and weight of real ammo for testing cycling functions.

Benelli M4 Law Enforcement Model Need Barell
Steve Rose replied to David Cleveland's topic in Benelli
Would you be interested in having your current barrel threaded to accept screw in choke tube? I know a guy🙂 Send me a PM or let me know here if this interests you. -
Seized Magazine Ring/Barrel Stop Ring Any Fixes?
Steve Rose replied to Bluewater21's topic in Waterfowling
Why do you want to move it? Trying to make the gun shoot lower? Those I've seen are locked in by red Loctite. Heat is your friend. -
If the 20ga latch in your gun is hinged like the one on the right in this picture then you CANNOT drill/tap it for an enlarged button. The post is hollow (contains a spring) and will not accommodate a screw.

FWIW....to modify the later era Benelli bolts carriers (M2, SBE2, M3, etc.) to allow a ghost load it is NOT necessary to fill in the rear notch. Just bevel the back edge of the notch about 45 degrees as these pictures show. That is all it takes.

When was your M4 manufactured? My "guess" the new model M4 guns use the same spring plunger washer as the M2...but that is just a suspicion on my part https://www.midwestgunworks.com/benelli-m2/washer.html My well used M2 has a washer from a hardware store collection after I lost the original part late one night. Thousands of rounds later I've never seen the need to replace it.

Actually, some of the earlier 20 ga M2 guns had a hinged or " 2 piece" carrier latch. The new 20 ga guns I've seen the past few years (pre 2023) did have a one piece latch like the 12 ga guns. Note the shape of the release button on this linked part, its round, not oval like the post 23 design. 20 ga 2 piece latch Benelli may have made internal changes in the 20 receiver shape when they changed to the (pre 23) one piece latch. That older 2 piece 20 ga latch WOULD fit inside a 12 ga gun. Some 3 gunners tried using them hoping shell would slide into the mag tube easier when speed loading. More info....Look back at the pcitures from July 2020 in this thread @Ty17 Can you post a side by side picture of the two different parts you have? Is the forward end of your 2 pc latch contacting the magazine follower and stopping it from moving enough to release the bolt?

Can you post a side by side picture of the two parts?

Who threads Benelli Choke tubes? Looking to thread a few barrels
Steve Rose replied to REZARF2's topic in Benelli
Maybe Briley can thread your factory length M4 barrel for Benelli Mobil chokes?.... The chopped Nova barrel is likely too thin for those tubes unless the barrel is quite short (an OD of around .840” minimum required). On a related note my shop still is searching for a set of the 12ga Mobil choke installation tooling that is actually available for purchase (piloted reamer and tap in new or nearly new condition). Any leads that pay off would be greatly appreciated -
Or the contact with the fore-end accelerated the finish wear (that is not seen until the gun is disassembled) "It is on the area that is covered by the fore-end when assembled"

My M4 T Pro has a spring at the pistons. Can it be removed?
Steve Rose replied to CEBEP's topic in Benelli
I remember this question on that part coming up a few years ago when the spring first appeared. According to a Benelli rep the spring is being installed to stop gas piston or factory forearm rattle but does not affect function if removed. -
And yet another https://www.speedshooter.com/product/dmw-benelli-speedbar/

Here's another version https://cpwsa.com/product/benelli-carrier-rapid-release-tab/

Install the shims that will add more “drop” to the stock, that lowers the end of the stock helping you look down the rib instead of seeing rib. The higher the number on the shim the greater the “drop” distance of your stock fit. Think of the recoil pad end of the stock as a rear sight. When making sight in adjustments you move the “rear sight” the direction you want to move the point of impact on the target.

The fine thread tube is the early version, serial numbers below M155400

I have stippled the stock (grip area) and the forearm on a few Nova guns. All those “ribs” you see got the usual wood burning tool treatment. If you've done a Glock you can do this.

Show us the end of the magazine tube (without the mag tube cap screwed into place). Is anything sticking out past the end of the gun's magazine tube?
-
Numrich Gun Parts has some in stock

Push the barrel down and tighten the magazine cap.

@remarkable You knew where I was going with the model # question.😉 Why Benelli choose to make a 3” AND a 3.5” SBE3 when they already have a 3” M2 is something I don't understand ...but I've been tinkering with Italian shotguns long enough to know they do what they want to do and tell us Americans we will like it.
-
On the box or some of the Benelli paperwork that came with the gun.
-
@misslebait Which model # SBE3 do you have?
