tucker301 Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Cool! Post a pic if you have one. There's a thread in the turkey section. Quote
Duggan Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I shot one with #7 shot from 75 feet away a few days ago. I came to the top of the sand pits we always shoot at, and there were a few running up the left side of the pit. Needless to say, it didn't drop. Which was my intention, since I have no permit. I just wanted to see it freak out when it was hit with a few grains of sand. Quote

Duggan Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 It was a warning tap to get him on his guard to avoid the other people in the area actively searching for him. And calm yourselves, no harm was done. Quote

Duggan Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 aha, I've actually been hit with a few #8 bb's from about that distance They left little red marks that disappeared the next day ... and I don't have feathers to protect me. But I hear the point you guys are making. [ 05-09-2006, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: Duggan ] Quote
Butch-M Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 He said 75 feet ... which is 25 yards. I can see this post taking off into an ethics war. LOL Quote
Remy Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 you shoot at an animal with a firearm to kill it, not to "warn" it--------my opinion at least. Quote
Likwid Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I'd be a liar if I said I haven't wanted to fire a "warning" shot or two at some "questionable" people before. But I can honestly say that I have never done it to an animal, winged or otherwise. Quote
Duggan Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I actually meant to say 75 yards, but it hardly matters. Quote
420W Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I shot an 18lb two year old on fri. It was my first bird with my SBEII 3.5inch fed prem. #4 copper plated about 25 yards, used the factory choke tube. Needless to say i didn't have to get up to run over to it. Quote
Russ F. Posted May 13, 2006 Author Posted May 13, 2006 sweet! Those Feds kick @ss. [ 05-13-2006, 06:56 PM: Message edited by: Russ F. ] Quote
420W Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I had a chance to try the SBEII out again on sun. This time i took a 20lb gobbler at 40 paces with fed. prem. #4's did a real nice job at that range also 1 1/4 hooks on this bird 3 year old most likley. I have always used #6 shot but the 4's work good out of this gun with the factory full in it i'll stick with them. Quote
