etale Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hi All, I just picked up my new m4 a few days ago and after putting a few (aluminum) snap-caps through it and 50 rounds of target load, I have noticed that ejection of the shells seems to be nicking the anodizing off the receiver, just above the bolt (with bolt closed, the scratching on the receiver is right above the "BENELLI" stamp on the bolt). I realize that this is not much of an issue, as it's only cosmetic, but I'm a bit disappointed that the finish is wearing on my brand new m4. Is this something any of you have experienced? Am I doing something wrong? I took some pictures of the wear: www(dot)flickr(dot)com/photos/86193645@N00/5442950005/ and www(dot)flickr(dot)com/photos/86193645@N00/5443552628/ (where (dot) should be replaced with . as I don't yet have link posting available to me). Thank you all for your thoughts! Quote
StrangerDanger Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 It's normal. Mine is actually beveled after 13,000 rounds. If you're concerned about cosmetics, get a bottle of alumablack. Quote
etale Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Thanks, SD, it's good to hear that all is well (13,000 rounds is some serious shooting...respect). I'm not too concerned about cosmetics on a "combat shotgun", just wanted to make sure that I hadn't mis-assembled anything. Quote
Alpengeist Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 my supernova has gotten some wear on the anno as well (im aware that its not in the same spot as your m4).. i clean it the night before and right when i get home from shooting so i'm not sure what its from. Quote
Super33 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Same here. I don't quite have 13,000 rounds fired through mine yet but I do have some chafing. Quote
LeoAtrox Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I also got some wear almost immediately after firing a new M4. (Like you, I used SnapCaps before going out to the range and firing a bunch of slugs through it.) I didn't worry too much about it, but did use some firearms paint to ineffectively attempt a coverup. xamoel Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 same here. little disappointing indeed... Quote
