So with kips rail(which I already have) does your set-up with the Aimpoint Micro and Low Pro LaRue mount cowitness at all? My dept allows optics but the irons must be visible through the glass.

Kip's rail is the same height as the original. There is no way to co-witness because the rear sight on the M4 is "too low". The lowest mount available for the T1 is the integrated T1 mount. If that did not co-witness on your M4 with the OEM rail, nothing else will, either.

The use of the Daniel Defense open base mount allows a fair degree of co-witnessing of the sights. The mount though is too low for the optics though, forcing my head down to look thru the device. To solve those combined problems I use the LaRue quick disconnect mount (which has no see-thru base) in combination with the SureFire off-set sights, so they are not co-witnessed, but the arc of rotation is in the same radius off the long axis of the receiver, so there is no adjustment of sight alignment necessary; just a quick change of sight picture. It's a clever system you may want to consider.

Interesting points and options. But I wouldn't have used such a high mount. I prefer to have the optic as low to the bore as possible. Pictured above is the highest Aimpoint Micro mount that LaRue makes. I like the shorter LT661.

I believe the high mount is meant to be used with the stock in the fully collapsed position.

It's meant to be used on an AR-15/M4 type weapon when you do not want a co-witness or for a lower 1/3 co-witness, depending on the height selected.
