M4-Desert Camo
Can someone explain to a newb how a chamber lock works (specifically for shotgun)?
benelliwerkes
Do you mean how is the bolt held open in a Benelli M1,M2,M4 ? Or, how does the Benelli bolt lock up into battery with the barrel extension?
XTrooper
I believe he's talking about a "chamber lock" safety device. I've only seen them for handguns. http://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/training-safety-gear/gun-locks/chamber-locks-prod42637.aspx
benelliwerkes
Those kind of "chamber locks".......aha. Omega Systems explains the locking action mechanisms on their website.......shotguns included. http://www.omegagunlock.com/companyinfo.htm
M4-Desert Camo
I was referring to this lock http://store.benelliusa.com/gun-locks

M4-Desert Camo
Elaborate please? I would like to use something on rare occasions. My kids are older and I don't need to worry about them being curiuos regarding the M4. It's when we have company that might have younger children/teenagers staying with us is when I would feel better locking the gun.

You've got a safe, right?
M4-Desert Camo
nope, no safe
M4-Desert Camo
I think a safe might be the best option as it will satisfy a few needs I have. I'm liking the Barska bio-metric models (I know, I have read the reviews, don't need Fort Knoxx) to go in my bedroom closet.
M4Whore
It would appear that the "chamber lock" has lugs similar to the bolt head. Guessing the "lugs" mate into the barrel extention and then lock in, effectively blocking the barrel. Why not purchase a "Cable Lock" for under $10.00. After unloading your shotgun and locking the bolt back , place the cable into the receiver from the bottom opening and out the ejection port. Then merely secure the cable to the attached lock and you're good to go...
