dgp3591
Hi guys, Just got my B M4….Assembly seemed to be going fine until I went to put on the fastening cap. It only threads down so far before leaving about a half inch of space between cap and barrel….so naturally when i release the bolt the barrel slides forward and hand guards pop off. any help would be welcomed
StreetSweeper56
That's not a problem, it's a feature! Sounds like the barrel isn't seated properly in the receiver, might have to finagle it a bit but it'll seat, it's new and the tolerances are amazingly close. Anon4755
Mine was insanely tight out the box. Loosened up once i put several hundred rounds through it and now disassembly and assembly is easy.
Milspec
I agree with the other fellas here. My recent M4 was super tight. I really had to press the barrel into the receiver. Carefully, or course. It appeared to be much tighter than my previous M4.

I'm confused, if his barrel weren't seated, wouldn't the cap engage prematurely? It wouldn't bottom out and leave a gap. It's like the magazine, or the extension, isn't fully attached. StrangerDanger
If I had to guess, your hand guards are not seated correctly. A photo of the area would confirm.
