Caligvla Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I currently have a SureFire Scout Light on my M4... I am using a B&T single picatinny rail. I am looking to replace it with the following combination. 1.) G2 Tan (I have the desert camo, so I think it will look a bit better) 2.) Replace the incandescent with a Malkoff LED 235+ lumens 3.) Use a Tan CAA Mount in conjunction with the B&T Do you think this setup can take the recoil, the heat and whatever else I am not thinking of??? I called SureFire and they said it's not recommended, but didn't say it wouldn't work either... What do you guys think? Quote

12-Banger Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Check these guys out too: http://www.pentagonlight.com/ Not cheap, but they look like they mean business. They also got a free (advertising) ride in "I Am Legend." It's the brand used on Will Smith's AR. fwiw... Quote
Lakotah Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I currently use the M600 on mine. I would love for surefire to come out with a throw lever for this. I have the same thoughts about the thumbwheel. It hasn't happened yet, but I can see it easily can if you don't tighten it up enough. Quote

The thing people forget about mounting a light on a shotgun is the forces that the light is subjected to by the weapon. SureFire makes a screw on lens assembly that can withstand the concussive shock of weapons like shotguns and large caliber weapons that fits on most of the handhelds. The G2 is a great light but I cannot say how long it may survive on a shotgun before it has problems. Quote

MikeyZ Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 What about checking out the Surefire M90 series lights (aka M95-98)? Called the Millenium Universal Weaponlights? Nice variety in terms of weight vs. lumens. Opinions on this series (because I may want to get one myself)? Quote
adamlau Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Great series of lights. I have the M2, M3, M3T, M4 and M6 lights and favor the M3 for its size and output (MN21 for short bursts when the body is bored for 18650 Li-ion cells, or the WA1111 using the same cells). Offhand, I do not forsee any problems with the Malkoff/G2 combo. If anything, give it a shot and report back with results . Quote
Diabolus Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I have an M600 mounted near the end of my bbl so I get the full effect of the light beam. For the users that have it mounted closer to the receiver, why do this? Doesnt it cast a horrible shadow? I can post pics if you guys ask. Quote
fiavaim Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 thats a nice place to mount a weapon light, but how does it effect disassembly? just seems like it would be a hassle to strip the gun down to clean it. Quote
Diabolus Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Youre going to have to take off the rail in any posistion, but its not a big deal to move it on/off. Quote
Super M4 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I used a Surefire 6P with a Vltor mount and added a shock isolated bezel. Im considering trying out the new drop in LED to see how it works. Quote

Well I tried it out... the weak link was #3 the CAA Mount... boy does this thing suck!!! I think it's meant for an airsoft gun or something, it came flying off the gun, I put it back on 3 times then gave up on it. The G2 went flying down range it had the malkoff drop in it... both the G2 and the malkoff were fine being tossed about... So now my question is what is a great mount to use to mount my G2 to my Benelli M4? Quote
RescueTech25 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Anyone try the Surefire 618FGA??? I'm think of getting one for my M4. ...Can't post a pic cuz my post count isn't high enough yet. Quote
adamlau Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 The 618FGA is specific to the Remington 870, will it fit an M4? Quote

Fett Tracking Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I used an aimpoint mount with the knob you can hand tightnen and some rubber weather stripping (for snugness) to mount this flashlight http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/prrfnbr/1138/sesent/00 to my surefire forend. Its pretty much the sweetest. Quote
