I haven't had good luck with a heatgun on any of the newer M4's. I tried for two hours on one once and got nowhere. The MAPP torch is the way to go. It only takes about 3 - 4 minutes to break the factory thread locker down. You can use the existing locknut which is 27mm on the new receiver extension.1 point

It should be the same nut that's on there. No need for a new one unless you don't want to deal with clean up on the one you remove...1 point
