  1. on the M1/SBE 4 shot extension its completly hallow if the threading your talking about is a collar that is a ring around the end of the tube then thats the part that you attach to the orignal tube you simply thread it down however before you do that you need to look for 2 pieces 1 is a small black metal cap about the size of a nickle with bent edges and a whole in the center. this is the top cap for the very tip of the extension tube and of course you have to have your spring so IMHO replace the stock spring with your new +4 spring let it hang out, drop the top cap *nickle sized black bit* down the tube, and then put the end of the spring down the mag tube, when it works right the spring will push evenly against the extension cap and push it into place at the top of the tube from there just do some careful feeding of the spring into the 2 parts of the mag tubes and then when you get it all together screw the coller down onto the orignal threading on your basic mag tube now if i've missed something and your saying the tube itself is threaded and doesn't have the collor that i was talking about then i'll have to do some homework on it for you BTW please note if you do get it on successfully *and i hope you do* make sure you have/get/use the extension clamp, those 4 extra shells can actually be enough weight to warp or bend the tube as a whole with out the reinforcement of that barrel to mag tube clamp PS. I stated that the little black cap has rounded edges if you think of the cap as a U then you put it in upside down so that the rounded end is at the top hope i could help Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas [ 03-03-2004, 11:09 AM: Message edited by: Wulf ] ________ magic flight

  3. oh and while were on the subject here's something to think about thats for the LEO's and MEO's Agulia an Arginten *sp* made line of ammo has what the call "mini" shells and from the best that i can tell there slugs are right at 3dram of powder and 1 and 1/4'ths ounces of lead which bearly squeaks by on the Benelli guidelines ..here's the kicker there 1 3/4'ths inches long which means you can all but double your max capacity ..if someone one feels like doing the math have at it you have 8x3 then take that number and divide it by 1.75 see how far off i am, IMHO i think i can get about 16 to 18 in mine..NOTE I SAY NOT TO SHOOT just as a test of capacity and of cycling of them in the weapon itself, God knows i've spent my life walking the thin line of justice to screw up over something stupid like that but again just as i said a thought Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas P.S. forgot to mention these slugs use a slow burning powder considering whats being used by Federal Winchester and the rest so they are VERY VERY dirty shells to fire in ones weapon and it being out of NATO regulations also has a corrosive effect so if one was to shoot even 1 of these mini slugs through the wepaon i suggest a field strip and the best bath you had ever given it period [ 02-26-2004, 06:35 PM: Message edited by: Wulf ] ________ drug test

the shorter barrel i was referring to was a slug barrel wich is about 4" shorter than my inital barrel @ 26" ported, what i was trying to achieve was a 1 action for every occasion be it turkey hunting deer hunting wth slugs and the rifled barrel i'm doing it in a kit the inital layout with the 9+1 shot tube 26" barrel ported and threaded for chokes and the 22 *or was it 24"" slug barrel with +2 shot extension for pure slug hunting..yes the +2 is purely for looks, but it was more economical than buying a standard cap IE the +2 was 40 bucks with spring and the standard cap is 37.99 +tax and then have to go look for a spring good point tho and thank you for your input Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ BMW K1200GT

*/em gives mudhen a calmer downer* heh no bro we know while they have the ability to do such a task that they would never becuse they would be better off saying "just get a rifled barrel" but i've settled for the IC choke it patterens very well @ 25 yards which is an insane distance for self defence *put 3 rounds all cutting each others corner in an upside down triange in the head reagon across the mid ear line about the nose area* funny you should say Brennekk Mud, thats the exact slug i use, that and BRI which if i'm not mistaken is made by the same company but I love the KO's for good solid consitant rounds i just wish there would be 1 scripted answer from Benelli CS department and i actually went back to check the diameter of my modified with a set of digital mic's and thankfully its fine still within the low 69 area any ways take care and be well everyone thank you all for your input Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ silversurfer vaporizer

  8. IMHO i'd go for it they retail for about $1299.00 ish I got mine for 900 NIB and wouldn't consider selling it for double that, as far as your question about the pistol grip, yes all M1 pistolgrip stocks work with the practical, because its a standard M1 action just make sure to check the chokes to ensure there in good condition and make sure the threading on the barrel itself is in good condition and clean, also make sure it comes with the choke tube wrench, it doubles as a thread cleaner for the barrel which is very important when you shoot alot also check to see if he has the stock shim and collar sets for the adjustable system, ..in a nutshell you can adjust the drop of the stock with this system the Practical comes with A B and C each set is 2 pieces 1 is a thin shim that goes between the stock and the action where it mates up at up front of it the second piece is a metal piece that about 2" long and made of metal about 1/8'th thick and blued steel, its for the rear end of the stock this is the piece that actually allows the drop of the stock, it simply slides up to the end of the screw at the back of the stock and when you tighen it down it sets the drop of the stock ...having said that here again since the practical is based off the M1 action the standard pistolgrip stock works with it PLUS so does the shim drop system, i'm still playing with mine but right now the B set seems to be the best for me that feels most comfortable on another thought your saying a choke CL..is that just plain Cylinder? because when I got mine I got the standard cylinder like you say that is for the break but i also got an improved cylinder for a total of 5 chokes ...might want to check into that oh and if you don't mind me adding my 2 cents DO NOT use the muzzel break, it ADDS recoil to the weapon reguardless what round you put through it ..the Practical was designed for ISPC shooting *the 3 weapon shooting pistol, carbine and shotgun*and basically you trade recoil for lesser barrel raise in rapid fire shooting *for me i'll deal with the rise i hate recoil* also unless you just love the speed loader system scrub it too and get a side saddle *this was added to the gun for ISPC because your are penalized for reloading so when you can have one reload and have 4 rounds you get a big benifit thats what its on the gun* there was 1 heard of case of them actually detonating 1 of the 12 ga shells in the tube and via chain reaction all 4 shells in the tub *the max capacity that it holds* detonated and wound up injuring several in the area and almost completely obliterating the user's arm, now please keep in mind this was an older model that had a metal plunger and thats how it was able to detonate the shell and again i said it was a heard of case i've yet to find proof there of but better safe than sorry, the new ones at least the one that came with my Practical is plastic and even to the point that the part that makes contact with the shell is only a quarter circle and actually hollowed out where the primer of the shell is so IMHO there safe, but as i said earlier its just my opnion and lastly check if you can and see if the ghost ring sights are the trininum night sights ..if so that is a big plus sorry for such a lengthly post but i hope you find the information helpful, as is, first hand info Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ ZN1100B
  9. if you shoot a rifled slug through a rifled barrel it can indeed damage the riflings inside the barrel, on the basic's of rifled slugs such as my personal choice *the Brenneke KO* have a preset spin rate set by the angle of the "fins" if you will on the sides of the slug, if the spin rate isn't the same as the twist rate as your rifled barrel then it could damage spots in the riflings where the slug spins over them it all breaks down into knowing the twist ratio of the barrel and of the slug and which direction either is going, ..simple rule of thumb is to just use common slugs for your rifled barrel and let the barrel do the spinning and for smooth bores use either, but if you truely want good accuracy use rifled slugs hope i could help Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ volcano vaporizer digital

    deer hunting

well what we think is "best" and what is normal to what your use to may be 2 different worlds, case and point, i brought home a M1 Practical for an all around weapon, i can plug it to hunt turkey or put a rifled choke in it use slugs and hunt deer or just go outside and pop off 10 rounds non stop just for the fun using light loads and a coffe can as a target, first time my Father looked at that weapon he refused to even consdider the idea of it being a hunting weapon because it has too many "tactical" addons" however to me, the most important thing to a weapon initially is how it feels when you hold it, and yes its a given you will get what you pay for so accuracy is implied when your holding a $1300 weapon ..which don't get me wrong you can get a 180 dollar shotgun @ wally world and find a right shell to choke match and have a good setup, but getting off my rant, and back to your question i gues i'm answering with a question whats important comfort wise to you, does it have to be a pump, what barrel length do you like, do you want it camo painted or standard black, and with hunting deer with slugs do you intend to use a scope? I apollogize if it seeems like alot that i'm throwing out but here's my point, the SBE, M1series and Nova are the only shotguns that have slug barrels made for them, and if i'm thinking correct there are 3 different barrels avail a 22' 24' and 26" *please note if anyone knows otherwise please post i'm just going from what i've been told many months ago* the reason why i asked if you was going to use a scope is becuase there are quiet a few of the versions listed above that come pre tapped for scope bases/mounts and some others like my Practical that have a rail already mounted on it at a proper level so that i could mount a scope or optic and still use the sights, the other thing about the slugs is have you considered the mercury recoil reducer? if your going to use those thumping 3.5" slugs its going to add some punch on the other end of the gun no matter how good the quality altho i'll admit that Benelli is the best shotgun system i've ever seen to deal with fealt recoil, they really have done tons for the shooter to be more comfortable, and i guess lastly have you considered a standard stock or a "vertial positve control grip" or as we normal people say pistol grip stock ..the debate rages between old fashioned hunters and the others that use them saying either there worth there weight in gold in the field or there not worth what there made of to have. sorry to be so long, but when you said the words hunting deer i just sprung, i've been a deer hunter litterally all my life and while i don't bring a trophy in every year its not becuse i don't have the chance and generally only time i kill one is when A. its a confirmed kill shot and B. i know there is help and assistance in working up the meet for storage to eat through out the next year. sorry to be so long but hope i could offer a few idea's for you once you can answer a bunch of the questions i put up there i'll be more than happy to pop back with a few reccomendations Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ Honda SH125

  19. Von, if your referring to the standard pistol grip full length stock as the "steady grip" or as i've heard it "vertical positive control grip" the answer would probably be yes i say probably becuase you say your turkey hunting now in 90% of the time a turkey hunter will turn down a vertical gripped shotgun just for that fact, they have gotten to much in the tradition of using the standard stock thus they don't want to mess with it, secondly you ask is it worth your time/money ..well thats all up to you, and really how you hunt, IMHO if you just sit in a bind and call them in or sit against a tree then YES its worth its weight in GOLD to have ..for 1 simple reason. ..you can control the whole gun even fire and still have 1 hand free to do what ever is needed to do. I have personally tried this on my own, with my shotgun and it works everytime. secondly if your a mover instead of staying from spot to spot you had might want to hold a gun very similar to yours *at the dealer ship* and see how it feels, its either a love/hate thing with them, some hunters won't do without them, some don't do with them...so from that i'd say get ahold of a gun close to what you have with the grip on it and hold it for a good 10 20 min *explain to the dealer what your doing so you don't get too many funny looks* and see if you like it if you do then great because YES dealers can order 1 piece at a time because thats how i got the pistol grip stock put on mine ..its the M1S90 Practical which came with the standard stock, the dealer said for X amout more he'd switch it out before i bought it and to this day i've never shot the weapon with the orignal stock on it .. oh one last thing the "steady grip" stocks are just like the normal stocks in that you can use the 3 different drop settings to adjust it to where you want it hope i could help Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ BMW K1100RS

  21. Frank, if you don't mind i'd like to throw my 2 cents in here, first off have you looked throught a set of "ghost ring" sights? my practical has a set of them on them and while very odd at first its basic common sense and accuracy all rolled up into 1, putting shot on paper *which what i'm guessing you would use for turkey* all you have to do is have the center post which is the sight in the center of the big hole of a rear sight *trust me once you look at them you'll know what i'm saying* any ways line it up center which is easy to tell becuase the front sight has guard blades on both sides in the style of the M1 Carbine or M1 Garand which has been a very common front sight in the military for years on end and even the M16 shows it to some degree *me bableing sorry* ..any ways once you line the 3 posts center in the big hole just pull the trigger and the shot will pattern where you centered the middle post* ....now for slugs on my system it has the standard white paint but on others you can get the greenish glow in the dark trijicon night sights installed which would aid help with them. basically the way shooting slugs works is you take the 2 dots on the rear sight *which is on each side of the big whole* and line it up even with the dot on the far post of the front sight and once you have a level aim pull the trigger the gun will do the rest, I personally have put 3 slugs within about 1.2" group with them all touching each other @ 25 yards in an indoor range, so i have a good feeling the system is pretty accurate, considering i was shooting this gun out of the box now if your not completely focused on iron sights "as they are so loosely called these days" you have a whole world of options open to you either as holo sights and red dot sights both of which i will personally vouch for, i've used red dot's up to 40mm on .22 pistols and even 9mm carbines and they can cut bullet hole for hole as long as you hold on the same spot, you do have to "zero" them in as a regular scope, but since there is no magnafying optic's there is no paralex and no POV problems, furthermore on the redot and holo, if you don't have the sight heald center and straight you won't see the dot at all, ...now on to the holo, it has a slimer profile on the weapon with only a small little "window" sticking up on the weapon ..and here again once its held straight you will see the retical in the center of the glass. with close range turkey and deer either would be a good choice unless your looking to use slugs up to 75 80 yards then i'd say go with a standard shotgun scope and look for an M1 and a good scope thats cozy to you another thought on the holo sights, both the EOTECH and the Bushnell is made by the same company, there are only a few minor differences between the two *one being the EOT has a metal shroud all the way around the sight while the Bushnell doesn't* and that the EOT is supposide to be LEO or MEO, the interisting thing here now that there made from the same company is that the demo that EOT sends to there dealers is a "broken" model that actually has a .22" hole all the way through the glass, ..Why might you ask"which i did with the deer in the headlights look* ..the answer was simple....it still works" with a push of a button i saw the retical as clear as day even tho it had a whole in the lense...very astonishing stuff for me so thats why i ordered a bushnell that day again just my 2 cents ..sorry to rant so much hope something in it will help you Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas ________ uhwh

  24. Wow, maybe someone has finally figured out how to tame the .300WinMag *may preferred round of all rilfes save the .50BMG* Jim i'll try to get my hands on one of the .300's from the local shop and put a round or two into it On to your question Elk, My father has been an abid .300 shooter ever since i've been alive, which is a big reason why i'm such a fan of it, we have built custom weapon systems and loaded custom loads for duty specific usage ..if your just looking for information on a muzzel break to tame the .300 i would offer this 1 piece of information, there is a company out of Michigan called Answer Quiet Muzzel Breaks. basically you send them your weapon and they do as much as possible to the weapon to reduce the recoil, the first step is they counterthread about 1/5" of the weapons real barrel and custom fit on a 3" muzzel break thats custom machined for that specific weapon, to date i think they offer about 4 different types we *being my father and I* have always kept with the 360degree break, its ported the full 360 and fit specially to the weapon, which litterally take up to about 40% of the jolt out of the gun. They also have other componets to offer while they have your gun to reduce recoil even more such as there pattened break pad that is like a suped up Decellerator pad. and honestly workes wonders. as it is I was able to kill my first deer with my father's .300 that had just came back from the Answer company which doesn't seem like much, BUT i had just had a spinal fusion surgery only 3 days latter and i honestly didn't feel any pain or regret for that matter in shooting the rifle, i could feel it push up against my shoulder and thats it Sorry to babble so long and thank you for your time Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas [ 02-09-2004, 08:11 PM: Message edited by: Wulf ] ________ hemp marijuana
  25. let me take a pot shot here and just add my 2 cents to have a gun that can multi roll is hard but not impossible, the TRICK is to actually know what you want to do with it now all the reccomendations listed above are great ones however i do disagree with 1 thing, i will never choose a pistol over a shotgun in home defense..for 1 simple reason, in a pistol you pull the trigger you have 1 bullet a big percentage of all people in the world *even trained professionals* are going to be addled by the intrusion thus making there aim and accuracy lacking. however with a shotgun loaded with OO or OOO buck, you have some where in the neighborhood of 20-40 30'ish cal bullets in the GENERAL area ..which means you aim in the direction of the offender with greater chances of getting a hit to them let me state now I wish upon no one the life changing even of having to shoot at someone in self defense, its something that is very hard to dealwith even with proper training and help now back on the subject let me offer this thought, its a costly one but its possible, the Benelli M1 Practical is a 26" barreled 8+1 *actually 9+1* mag tube with a picaniny rail for a sight or scope WITH ghost ring sights, and a ported barrel which includes all 5 chokes ... now for skeet shooting IMHO this should be more than a fair weapon for skeet and target shooting due to the variety of chokes it comes with, including the porting on the barrel, lenght of the barrel to help with hitting your targets, also this gun comes "combat ready" per se because it does have the M1 Tactical reciever with the ghost ring sights that you as talking about PLUS you have more rounds to shoot before you reload AND it comes with a speed loading system .. and for the last option *stock on the gun* is a 3" bird cage muzzel break that is targeted for ISPC shooters ..now in my own experience i have NO idea what its use is to me it adds recoil to the weapon, however i will state that i have not patterened my rifle and done a compare and contrast with and with out the bird cage, so maybe it has something to do with the pattern effect at X range, i honestly don't know lastly you were stating you liked the pistol grip stock, well it just so happens that my Practical has a pistol grip stock on it that i bought the same da i bought the gun, the gunsmith/dealer at the store put it on for me to save me the time, having said that all that i've shot the gun is with the pistol grip, its incredibly comforatable and very controlable even in shooting slugs *which to me kick the worse than anything else save the 3.5" mags" with my gun and its lay out i can shoot high brass #6 shot Estate/winchester/federal ammo with 1 hand and generally hit my target *which is usually some form of cardboard box about 1.5ft square...given this isn't go in any means while trying to shoot skeet but is very good for home defense...on a last note from the wepaon i will warn that the length of the pracical is very long, and until you get use to it, it WILL be very ackward but with time paitence and practice you'll be able to to move it through out a house smooth as silk again just my 2 cents Further more i would like to say i wish to not offend anyone that uses a pistol as home defense, I will admit that I kept a H&K MK23 .45 Auto for such the case. but when time came that i had to use it, i learned alot, thankfully i only fired 3 rounds none of which made contact to the intruders. however none of the rounds made contact with even the general area of where i was aiming either. after that i refocused my thoughts to a shotgun, i'm sure there are many men and women out there who can handle the situatiosn much better than i did, and a pistol is great for there useage, but for someone new to shooting and to guns, i cannot honestly reccomend it personally Good day to all and God bless Wulf Lupinus Nobilitas [ 02-10-2004, 01:31 PM: Message edited by: Wulf ] ________ buy iolite vaporizer
