  1. I have a SBE 2 in HD Timber that is 28" and I would like to trade it for a SBE HD Timber barrel in 24 or 26" The SBE2 has 3 "Crio chokes" and is like new condition.....I have never fired it myself it was purchased at Cabela's for $495.00 last fall. It is mounted on my SBE and fits as well as looks good but I have about 50 choke tubes in "standard" Beretta/Benelli (mobil chokes) and don't want to screw with a "Crio System". SBE2 for an SBE....I don't want another SBE2 barrel.....I may be willing to buy your SBE HD Timber barrel if you prefer cash (pm anytime). I'm kicking myself for selling a 26" SBE barrel that had the old camo finish just a few weeks ago for $250 but I really didn't need it and didn't want to spend $150 having the finish changed....hindsight is 20/20!
  2. gotta luv that "Bargain Cave" at Cabela's!!! If I wasn't 4.5 hours from the closest Cabela's I'd live in that cave or at least visit everyday!!! ne of u guys try the SVL Limbsaver "pop-in" recoil pads on your SBE's or Super Nova's? I use Limbsaver stuff on my bows and it is great for reducing noise and vibration but I wonder if these new recoil pads work well on the Benelli's???
  3. Been away from this site for a looooonnnngggg time.....my last post was 2004!!!! Neway, I just picked up a Super Nova this past weekend at a local gun show with the Comfort Tech (CT) stock in Max4 camo. It will be a birthday present for my son and he will shoot turkey's with it for the most part. I was wondering if neone has shot both the SteadyGrip (SG) and the CT versions of this gun and can tell me if the CT really does much for recoil when shooting 3" loads??? Second, I picked this gun up used, guy bought it just before waterfowl season and decided he needed an autoloader (kicked too hard with 3-1/2" steel loads for him, I guess?!?!) he said he had the box but later could not find it....so I'm looking for some stock shims. If nebody has a set they want to sell let me know, otherwise I'll order a kit from Brownells. Finally, what does the button on the forend do??? Is this for blocking the next shell coming from the magazine??? I went to Benelli and downloaded an owners manual but the manual does not mention this button....at least I could not find any reference of it in the Super Nova manual?!?!
  4. Any of you guys know of a turkey choke tube that is actually "cryo" treated other than the factory Benelli chokes? I've called several makers who have chokes that fit the SBE II (Crio or Optima....take your pick) and none of them are actually treated to the same cryogenic process, at least none I have found. Guess if you want one you'll have to send it out and have it done yourself?!?! I'm not so sure it makes a hill of beans difference but Benelli sure makes it sound good! ;-)
  5. the most frustrating thing I have found in ALL my years of turkey hunting in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas has been knuckleheads on both private and public lands! I can't count the number of times my opening day hunts were screwed up by guys who seem to only care about them selves....sneak into a hen yelp, shoot my decoy, try to flank a gobbler I have roosted and set up on (knowing someone is in there calling), or shooting at a gobbler 40-50 yards away only to miss him but give him a good education! Most of these events have happened on private land and from guys who don't have permission to hunt (trespassing) others have happened on public land. I've had guys on public land drive down the long winding gravel road, see my truck and pull in directly behind me and try to beat me into the woods....when there is hundreds of miles of gravel or dirt road this is simply rude behavior! There have been a couple of times that I have walked into an area that I have scouted for several days prior to the opening day hiked in and found a guy (or two) set up on a ridge I had planned to hunt and I simply leave quietly and resort to "plan b".....some of these knuckleheads don't have a "plan B". So here are a couple of tips; 1.) have a "plan b"...."plan c" and a "plan d"!!! 2.) don't be irresponsible and hunt close to a fellow hunter. 3.) don't trespass 4.) stop shooting at turkeys that are further than 20 yards!!! With respect to the last tip, I have killed many turkeys since I began turkey hunting in the 80's and I have never shot one beyond 20 yards.....most have been at 10 yards or less and my biggest gobbler was a 26# 11 inch beard 1-1/2" spur beast taken at less than 8 yards with a 70 year old 16 ga double choked full & modified....nope I didn't fire both barrels hit him with the modified and was using #6 shot (upland game loads! My point here is you don't need a mega choked gun and 3-1/2" magnums to kill gobblers, half the fun is trying to "talk" him into that magical 10 yard distance (IMHO). Happy Hunting and Good Luck! 10Gauge

I'd like to see a 10 gauge from Benelli or Beretta or Franchi.......I currently own a Browning Gold Stalker 10 bore for Goose & Turkey hunting. The "Mighty" 10 has out performed ANY and ALL 3-1/2" 12's I have shot, owned or my friends currently own! It has killed Geese "DEAD" at 60+ yards when the 12's only knock out feathers. I've owned Ithaca, Remington, H&R and assorted SxS 10 bores in the past & the only downside I see is the increased weight. I'd also like to see a 28 & 16 gauge......I love the 16 for 90% of my upland bird hunting and currently own several "classic" 16 bores. Regarding .410's they should only be used on the skeet field or for teaching kids to shoot. These guns IMHO should NOT be used for any game including quail or doves! Unless you are willing to shoot ONLY birds within 15 yards (and most people are not) a .410 is a wounding machine. Case in point.......I used a .410 O/U last January on a GA quail hunt and shot 33 birds with 48 rounds fired. Some would say a darn good afternoon hunt! But I told the plantation owner I would never shoot the .410 again on quail because I watched at least 10 birds fly away injured and could not be found. I'll stick to my 28 or 20 gauge for small game, especially doves and quail.
