  1. Thanks Drundel..............I used the Birchwood lube applied to the bottom threads and skirt. It worked great and I did not get all that black carbon on the outside of the tube................I shot several rnds of trap and a limit of doves this morning without any problems. ( I won't say how many rnds the limit took)...........Thanks..........Upland
  2. The 870, like most auto and pump guns has the safety at the rear of the trigger guard. The Nova's safety is forward of the guard and would definitely take some getting used to.................just a thought....................Upland04
  3. Our only chance to legally get around these laws in the Socialist Republic of California is to VOTE and influence others to do so ..............The Calif ban is mostly based on firearm cosmetics..........Next they will ban ugly dogs and who knows what after that.......Good Luck Andy.................Upland
  4. Thanks Threeshot. This is my first shotgun with choke tubes. I will try the birchwood............Upland04
  5. Since 6-7 when I posted to this topic, I have shot over 4000 rnds thru my SBEll. I don't shoot anything below 3DE and 1 1/8 oz. I have not had a malfunction in the last 3000 rnds. I fixed the stiff safety myself and Benelli sent me a new tube wrench. The only problem I have is the choke tubes loosen after a hundred rnds or so. Maybe I'm not getting them tight enough??????????Any suggestions would be appreciated............Can't wait for Sept 1st...........Upland04
  6. Hey Chukar.................Its been 4 months since I got my SBEll and 4000 rounds ago. I absolutely love this gun and am looking forward to some chukar hunting in Nevada. What are the prospects this year????????????Upland04 PS Did you buy a SBEll???????????

I to, with my brother had a chance to take our two (2 yr old litter mate springers) out for a romp in the grass for some pheasants. We had 8 put out. the pups put 8 up, we shot 8 and the pups retreived 8. It was a good day however, it is so hot and dry in Ca that we used a 10 oz bottle of "clear eyes" to flush the seeds out of their eyes. I have never done this, this early in the year before. I hope we get some weather to put the seeds on the ground..........Good Hunting........Upland04
  8. Both of my SBElls were tight until I cleaned them 4 or 5 times and they are loosening up. I think you are right, these are both camo guns and it probably has something to do with the dipping proccess. Just wiggle it back and forth while pulling it down..............Hope you enjoy your gun as much as I do mine................Upland04
  9. Click on "very stiff SBEll safety" and read reply two and four. It took about 10 minutes. Polishing the detent cup won"t help. It is strictly a matter of too much spring pressure................other option is to wait for Montefeltro's solution coming from Italy.........Upland04
  10. Hey Guys, my new SBEll is quiet and smooth with a very possitive engagement. I already explained in another topic how I fixed it. I just fixed my son's too. Same results however, I am waiting to hear what Benelli has to say. If they never resolve the issue..........I'm happy...........Upland04

I can give you an opinion on the SBEll with the comfortech stock. I have had my new gun for 2 1/2 weeks. I have shot 1200 rnds at clays. My scores have been in the 20's. With any other gun I have ever owned, my scores drop off after 100 rnds because of recoil. I think it is an incredible design. I took a young lady trap shooting the other evening. She shot 100 rnds and was ready to keep going.....................Upland04
  12. Montefeltro Thanks for your concern. Both SBElls I purchased are the same. A young lady I was shooting clays with could'nt take the safety off so she just left it on fire as she loaded to shoot. Not very safe but,?????????????? I'll look forward to your message from Italy. Thanks so much..............Upland04
  13. I kept it pushed down with another drift punch while I drove the pin in. Use a punch smaller in dia than the spring so the pin will catch the edge of the spring so you can remove the holding punch to drive the pin on over the spring. I didn't have much trouble..........Good Luck.........Other than the safety, I sure like the gun. I have 1000 rnds thru it so far................Upland04
  14. Here is how I fixed mine........On the back of the trigger mec. above the safety button is a horizonal drift pin. Under the pin is a spring with a plunger on the end that contacts the safety. The spring has too much tension. Drive out the pin, remove the spring and nip off one loop. Keep shortening the spring until you reach the desired tention. It took 2 loops and my safety works like my old 870. The tricky part is getting the drift pin back in while holding the spring down. It was a simple procedure tho.............Upland04
  15. The real stiffness in the new SBEll is the safety.. I have sat for an hour clicking it back and forth and can't seem to loosen it up. Both guns are so stiff, I don't think you could take it off with heavy gloves on...........Upland04
