Chief 79, Does those mercury-filled recoil reducers fit the M2 and SBE2 models? Has anyone tried with the above models? Regards threeshot

kpw212, What types of shooting do you use the shotgun? Hunting? What types of prey do you hunt and which types of hunts do you perform more than others (therefore shoot the gun the most)? Clay shooting of any kind? (Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays) Given your shoulder's condition, have you considered a 20 ga? For the least recoil, use a gas operated shotguns versus recoil operated shotguns. Now the bad news, gas operated shotguns are harder to clean versus recoil operated shotguns. Chief 79, How long ago did you write Benelli Customer Service? Regards threeshot

homechanger, I would first contact your gun dealer/shop and tell them that your SBEII is missing the choke tube wrench. Ask them if they will give you one from another SBEII or M2 that they have in stock. When I purchased my SBEII, I failed to notice at the gun shop that the four other choke tubes were missing. I called the gun shop the same day I purchased the gun. They asked me to bring the gun and the plastic gun case back to the store. They looked at the gun case and gave me the four choke tubes from another SBEII I was looking at earlier. If your gun shop will not help you, then I would call Benelli Customer Service at 301.283.6981 to request they send you a choke tube wrench. Also, check that the choke tube wrench fits all your choke tubes. See the thread sbe II choke wrench problem? . Regards threeshot

I agree regarding the stainless steel recoil spring if you are talking about the SBE vs. the SBEII. From Benelli's website on the SBEII model:
-
Jprice, I would use the 28" barrel. Before I bought my SBEII with 28" barrel, I spent about half-hour shouldering the 28" and the 26" SBEII. I would quickly bring the gun to my shoulder and while swinging the gun to sight something on the wall or ceiling. In the end, I felt more confident with the 28" barrel. Most of clay shooters prefer the longer barrel for the same reasons Geno put in his post above. There is no answer to your question. It is strictly your preference. sleepydoc, As BenelliGirl recommended, contact Benelli Customer Service and discuss the possibly of returning the gun for repair. If you feel the gunstock is not within proper tolerances to allow any Gel Pad to stay firmly in the stock, Benelli can address the issue if they have the gun. Just a thought for you to consider if the second Gel Pad fits too loose. Regards threeshot

Just be aware that Numrish Gun Parts buys new & used parts. Sell Your Parts To Us I could not tell from browsing their website if the part I was interested in was new or used. Good luck!

Go to the gun shop and shoulder the M2 and the SBEII. Which gun seems to feel better and/or sight better when you shoulder them?

No mid bead (M2) vs. mid bead (SBEII), slope on the receiver vs. a more hump back receiver on the SBE II, the trigger guards are shaped a little differently. Both guns use the same mechanics and barrels. When the SBE II is stripped for cleaning, you have access to the trigger mechanism because the top of the receiver is part of the barrel. This allows easier cleaning of the receiver. Also this makes it easier to remove the trigger assembly for cleaning. What types of shooting will you be doing with your M2 or SBEII? For the SBEII, the minimum load is 3 Dr powder with 1 1/8 oz shot for the SBE and I assume the SBEII. I would break-in the SBEII with Turkey loads unless you are trying to use the 7/8 oz loads. Then you might need to replace the recoil tube spring with a lighter spring. I own a SBEII and broke in my gun with 100 rounds of Turkey loads. This will help take the stiffness out of the recoil spring. I put 50 shells of 3" and 50 shells of 3 1/2" just to make sure the gun performed correctly. I used the following: 50 shells of Winchester Supreme Double X Magnum Turkey Loads 3” with Max Dr. Eq. At 2 Oz. 50 shells of Winchester Supreme Double X Magnum Turkey Loads 3 1/2" with Max. Dr. at 2 1/4 Oz. Regards threeshot

Watering your gun to clean it is not advisable. I am happy with the following products to clean and lube my SBEII. M-Pro 7 to clean the gun. I purchased Slip2000 Piston & Choke Tube Cleaner and use FP-10 for oiling the gun. Shooter Choice FP-10 is licensed to use FP-10. FP-10 and Shooter's Choice FP-10 ....The "FAQ's" Tom Knapp of course recommends the Benelli oil that comes with the gun, but more importantly in this thread, he gives his reasons for avoiding certain oils. super gets stuck Here is FP-10's 4 Product Corrosion Test with instructions of how you can reproduce their test. You can get FP-10 Lubricant at Brownells stock number 934-110-004. CheaperThanDirt also carries the FP-10 oil. I purchased Slip2000 Choke Tube Cleaner to help me reduce the amount of time I spend cleaning the gun. While the choke tube sits in the solution, I am busy cleaning other parts of the gun. It will remove the worst of the carbon/plastic fowling. You may want to purchase a Chamber Brush for cleaning not only the chamber, but for cleaning the choke tube while using your favorite gun cleaner. I use Birchwood Choke Tube Lube for the choke tube threads and FP-10 oil on the rest of the gun metal. I put a layer of FP-10 oil within the barrel with the choke removed, including the area where the choke tube resides. Then a layer of FP-10 oil on the entire removed choke tube. You then add a bead of Birchwood Choke Tube Lube to the front of the threads of the removed choke tube (front being the threads that will first engage the threads in the barrel) and screw-in the choke tube and tighten. If you cannot find the Gel Pads online, you can call the Mann & Sons at 618-357-2911. Benelli has directed people on this forum to order parts from this dealer in the past. Or you can use Benelli Dealer Locator by providing a zip code and distance for Benelli dealers in your area. Regards threeshot [ 10-06-2004, 06:51 AM: Message edited by: threeshot ]

I finally figured out why I was unable to reply to one of the posts. I was trying to include an URL to Tom Knapps magazine extension tubes. https://tp-commerce.techpro.com/tomknapp/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=34&cat=Benelli+Parts+%26+Acc%27s For some reason I could not use the "url" button and use the link above or I would get the error in the post above when I attempted to "Add Reply". Strange..

FireGirl, Try taking an old pair of shoelaces and take one pair of the shoelace and wrap it once or twice around the base of the bolt handle and pull. Works for me. Regards threeshot

I should add, with the SBEII, I put 50 shells of 3" and 50 shells of 3 1/2" just to make sure the gun performed correctly.

I don't think you can use the mercury-filled recoil reducer in the Confortech System gun models. [ 09-27-2004, 10:52 PM: Message edited by: threeshot ]
