Nice job! At least now we can write shells. I wonder if we can **** the hammer too? I guess not

All sounds normal. The bolt will not close completely if it is eased shut. This has led to more than one misfire, so just rack it back and let it go. It will get smoother with wear and usage. Break her in with three or four boxes of heavy field loads, clean her up, and you should be good to go. Welcome to the fold!

How very generous of them Nice birds!

Currently, the law allows waterfowlers to add water to grain fields, but does not allow for the adding of grain to water. What's the difference? There isn't any. When these laws were written, the flooded crops allowance meant that hunters could shoot birds over harvested or unharvested grain fields that had become flooded due to natural occurences. These days, however, big money duck clubs are building huge impoundments designed and engineered to allow for the easy flooding of grains that were never meant to be harvested, but merely planted for the purpose of flooding to attract waterfowl in droves. These crops are planted for no other reason than to be flooded later on when the grains have matured. The fields have dams, drains, and pumps to make sure that the "crops" get flooded just in time for duck season. In my opinion, this is baiting, and therefore should be just as illegal as tossing a five gallon bucket of corn into a swamp. What do you say?

According to the chart, they do not. However, Carlson's and Briley make some nice sporting tubes for the SBEII and Nova.

I just got my first chance to shoot some pheasants last Saturday and it was a bunch of fun. Given the fact that about 200 farm-raised, grain-fed birds had somehow escaped from transport onto land leased by our hunt club, I can honestly say that it was truly a "shoot", and not much of a hunt

It's truly amazing how many words can be used to say absolutely nothing. There is nothing wrong with cleaning a new gun, and most manufacturers recommend it. I certainly recommend it as well, and I never fire a new gun, or a newly purchased used one without first giving it a thorough cleaning and inspection. Furthermore, using compressed air (compressor and blow nozzle) to remove dirt and debris is a common practice. I turn the regulator down to about 50 psi just so it doesn't pop out any loose or fragile parts. SKK is the epitome of a good customer, with a patience and understanding that is rarely displayed these days. The gun is on its way to Benelli, and I'm sure they will take care of it for him. __________________________________ HOGWILD, Apparently the new forums do not have an ignore feature, but fortunately I do. Your rabble and banter was mildly amusing for a while, but I'm tired of it now. Post all you want, between the treatments and medications. This is the last repsonse your Trolling will get from me.

SKK, Check your Private Messages. It's difficult to hold an intelligent conversation in the middle of an asylum.

Sorry you're having problems, but Benelli CS is first rate and they'll get you fixed up.

Don't laugh too much at that. Those crazy bastiges stole a doe from an Ohio hunter at gunpoint! I made this post and I have e-mailed the Admin. Don't what else to do, unless we all simply start making all of our ****ing posts with so many ****ing curse words that no son of a ***** can figure what the **** we're ****ing talking about. Then we'd all be like HOGWILD

JR has a good point on making sure the action is completely closed. I could also see an inexperienced operator trying to cycle the action too quickly and doing something similar. SKK, Stop using Rem oil on any firearm. The stuff is crap. Breakfree, Hoppes Elite, or other premium milspec products are the only way to go on a Benelli.

I once had a '71 Olds Cutlass that wouldn't start when it rained hard, and I had a '69 chevy pickup with a column three speed that would only go in second if you pulled back on the lever until it cleared the halfway point going up. Other wise, it would get stuck in neutral and you'd have to crawl under it to fix the linkage. Let's see... what else? Oh yeah. I had a Brittany that had a ****uva nose for the neighbors cattle, but couldn't smell a bird if it was sitting on her head. I shot her. What does all of this have to do with the Nova problems? Beats me?!... Just following the trends and trying to get along better with my fellow forum members. Who knows, maybe one day we'll all make that one way trip to the nervous hospital.

Given your lack of experience, my first thought would be that you're doing something wrong. That may not be the case, but it's where I would begin with diagnosing the problem. The way to determine this is to firstly make sure the gun is re-assembled correctly, and then to have a more experienced individual take it for a spin. You could also check with the dealer who sold you the gun, if it's a gunshop with experienced and knowledgeable staff. If it's a Dick's Sporting Goods or similar, then that would be pointless. Another option would be to call Benelli CS Monday AM and see what they say.

Modern powders will attain maximum velocity in shorter barrells. This is not true with rifles, but with shotguns there is very little difference in velocity between a 24" barrell and a 30".

Now that man's a waterfowler!

Update: it's now up to 2,500 dead. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/4402707.html

So let me see if I've got the facts straight here. 1,000 or so dead mallards in a relatively small area. All appeared to have died from some sort of biological agent. Let's go investigate. Gloves? Masks? Moonsuits? Nah... we'll be fine

The manuals are also available for download from the Benelli website.

It's on the website. Click specifications.

I'll answer that question with a question. Multiple Choice: If you run three boxes through her, and it still won't cycle light loads, what would you do next? A: Run three more boxes of the heavy stuff and hope it does the trick. B. Buy a Surecycle kit for light loads and use that when shooting at the range, swithcing back to the stock kit when hunting. C. Call Customer Service and ask them why your gun won't cycle loads lighter than the recommended minimum. D. Post on these forums what a useless POS the SBEII is.
-
Shoot a few boxes of heavy field loads before trying the light stuff. If you're not going to shoot light stuff, then just shoot the recommended minimum or better and keep on truckin'.
