My SBEII had no heavy shipping grease on the recoil tube. The earlier SBE models have loctite on the threads, and a little heat in the right place will help quite a bit. The newer models use a nylon washer and heat should not be used. Check your parts manual. If you have the nylon washer style, you'll just need to apply a little more pressure. I clamped my receiver in a padded vise and used an adjustable wrench, giving some firm taps on the wrench handle with a light hammer.

tillery, You already posted this question to the Franchi forum. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/3/573.html#000001

Here is what Brian is explaining, with a picture. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/2147.html#000000

No word, but the 20 ga. is out now, and it's not even on the website

michap, To my knowledge, there is no D shim. I know there isn't one for the M2. I don't have an M2, and I could be way off-base here, but have you considered trying to use two shims together, B + C? Or possibly fashioning a shim from some other material, or even sanding a small amount off the bottom of the grip where it meets the receiver? Basically, what you're trying to achieve is an increase in the downward angle of the stock as it relates to the receiver, right? You may want to wait until mudhen weighs in on the subject. He knows the shims much better than I do, and he may have a simpler way of achieving better results.

safeshot, Is there any other model that interest you? That one seems to be hard to find. If you can locate a stocking US source, I can help you get them... provided you have a PayPal account and are willing to cover all of my costs. Send me a PM if interested.

acmf74, Yes, the rifled barrel will typically be more accurate, although advances in slug design such as the tru ball have narrowed the gap. It's perfectly safe to shoot slugs through the 28" barrel, but I wouldn't use anything tighter than Imp. Cylinder on the choke. Nitro_Kid, The Tru Balls should also work well in the shorter smoothbores.

I'd like to invite all waterfowlers to post their pictures from this season to this thread. Let's be respectful to our gracious host and let's keep it about the pictures, the guns, the birds, and the good times! Please repost your previously posted pictures here. Thanks, and have a safe and fruitful season!

That's just wrong. Funny, but wrong.

Duggan, Clear your cache and reload. The picture only works after you've been there once. GIS is cool, isn't it? rooster, I know I get terse and I know I get downright nasty with some newbs on here sometimes. I was raised old school and I was taught to fish, rather than to ask for fish and hope someone provided them to me. When a newb hits these forums, asking a newb question, and being obvious that they haven't taken the time to read their manual, or search the forums, or even read the disclaimer about this forum not being a conduit for customer service, I will let them know that they've come in the wrong door, so to speak. However, I try to ultimately help as many people as I can. I'm fortunate enough to be able to spend most of my days in front of the computer, so I have the opportunity to answer a lot times before people with real jobs even see the questions. This makes my post count pretty high, but it doesn't mean I know any more than you or anyone else here, excluding M1014 of course “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime”—Author unknown variations.... “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you will not have to listen to his incessant whining about how hungry he is.”—Author unknown “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to use the Net and he won't bother you for weeks.”—Author unknown

Thanks, but can we also get Mrs. Applebottom's restraining order lifted?

Stainless steel recoil spring and housing resist corrosion, Comfortech Stock reduces recoil, crio-traeted barrel and extended crio chokes improve pattern density, larger trigger guard easier to shoot with gloves, better positive cut grips on the checkering. or, you could have just read the web page. "The new ComforTech™ system reduces recoil up to 48% over the competition, without adding any moving parts or weight. Compared to competing brands the Benelli weighs 13 to 15% less — on average, that’s more than a pound less! The ComforTech™ system also reduces muzzle climb by 15%. For fast follow-up shots, this allows the shooter to get back on target up to 69% faster than the competition. The cryogenically treated barrel is frozen to –300° F which relieves stresses left over from hammer-forging. The result? The barrel flexes consistently, shot after shot. It also produces a smoother bore that stays cleaner and offers less resistance to the wad and shot producing denser, more uniform shot patterns. A new buttpad made of a shock-absorbing gel, originally developed for the medical industry, works with the ComforTech™ system to soak up recoil. Benelli engineers used extensive computer modeling to create an ergonomic design so refined that left- and right-handers have entirely different recoil pads. A new corrosion resistant recoil spring and guide remain free of rust and ride in a new recoil tube that is easily cleaned by removing the quick-detachable recoil pad." If someone posted here that yours was definitely legal, and then the ATF said it wasn't, who would be right?

Much to learn I have, Master Yoda.

Yes. The pad fits into a groove in the Comfortech stock. The standard stocks use a more traditional styled pad held on by screws. Your best bet would be to look at an aftermarket pad. Kickeez model KZ-111 fits Benelli SBE, M1, Montefeltro, and Sport models, and the pad is made from the same material as are the Benelli gel pads. http://www.kickeezproducts.com/p_recoil_pads.php

Richard, Any chance you could post a pic of the pin/ring installed and loose? I've git a hunch, but I don't want to publicly accuse you of being dumb until I've reviewed the evidence.

...and I'd be one happy employee

One of my off-season projects was to get these decoy bags made for the boat. I bought the heavy Cordura material last winter and I recently got a local upholsterer to sew them up for me. They will hold about 9 geese or 14 duck floaters per side, leaving plenty of floor space for all of our other gear and up to three people. The front sides have bungee sewn in so that when you pull them out, they snap back tightly. They are anchored at the top and bottom with SS screws through brass eyeylets. There are also drain holes in the bottom of each section (2 sections per bag) to allow for drainage. In retrospect, I should have made the pockets with a little more bellow at the bottom and perhaps had the bungee side a bit taller than the attached side. But it's not bad for a first edition, and it sure as heck saves some space in the small boat. Incredibly, the rig cost me about $150. [ 09-27-2006, 01:30 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
