  2. Hoppes Elite, Benelli Oil, Breakfree CLP. Midway, Brownells, etc. also sell a flat black touch up pen. I think Birchwood Casey makes them.
  3. IF you're not the type who is going to fret over a nick here and there, then the camo finishes are for you. Most guns made within the last 20-25 years handle steel just fine.

  7. The rail has a front and back end, with a slight incline or decline, I don't remember which. Any chance he could have mounted it backwards? Never had a problem with vertical when I used the factory rail. In shimming, you may want to try the Burris rings with the offset inserts. In fact, the Signature rings are about the best you can get, even if you get the standard ones. The inserts eliminate the possibility of ring marks altogether.

Yes. Franchi was doing some guns with a dipped fancy walnut finish. There's wood in the stock, but it's a cheaper hardwood covered by a dipped finish that's applied similarly to camo. The finish is supposed to emulate a fancy grade of walnut.

Yes, you can. I'd forgotten that the SBEII ships with a cylinder choke. You could also use an aftermarket rifled choke tube and slugs designed for rifled barrels with that. Were you able to determine whether or not your receiver is drilled and tapped? There may be hard rubber plugs in the holes. They can be removed by pushing them out from the inside.

Yes, a scope can be mounted. I can't see your gun, so it's hard to tell from here whether or not the receiver is already drilled and tapped for mounts. If it is drilled and tapped, use Weaver #93 or similar bases and whatever style of rings you prefer. If it is not already drilled and tapped, a gunsmith can do that for you. You should ask him to use the Weaver #93 pattern as this is the standard for Benellis, and it will lessen confusion for some future owner of the gun. Yes, you can shoot slugs. Use the Imp. Cylinder choke and slugs designed for smoothbore firearms, like Federal Tru Ball. For a NY slug gun, I'd suggest no more than a 4X fixed power scope, but a red dot may be something to consider as well. Quality optics are made by companies like Leupold, Burris, & Zeiss, among others. Junk is made by Tasco, Simmons, the cheaper Bushnels, BSA, and Millett. Look through a Cableas catalogue or online at cableas.com. Also, http://www.swfa.com/ is a great place to see all kinds of optics. You can also search these forums for terms like slugs, scope, and mounts and find a wealth of information. I hope this information serves you well and please feel free to ask follow-up questions.

  15. Would you want to try that again? You seem to be contradicting yourself.
  16. The M2's bolt group is the same, but the barrel / receiver relationship is the traidtional style. The sheer beauty of the SBE is in how the barrel and top half of the receiver are one unit. When you break it down, you have full access to the internals.
  17. Follow the links posted by skidaho. Excellent information there.
  18. They are interchangeable. The C&H reducer will fit with no problems.
  19. There will typically be a build-up of plastic from the wads on the inside of a choke tube. Are you certain that it's the finish peeling and not the plastic build-up?
