    hey

Glad to hear from you. And CONGRATS on the banded goose! As luck would have it, today (31st) is the one year anniversary of me having a bit of surgery as well. Nothing as serious as yours... they just cracked open my chest, fixed some plugged up arteries, and superglued me back together I also wondered if I'd ever feel up to hunting again, but it's amazing how quickly (looking back on it anyway) the time passes and you're feeling stronger and more eager to get out do stuff. You're welcome on the thoughts. I sent a PM as well. I could still use the information. Keep us updated, snow gooser. Be well.
  2. Saw some on ebay. If I can find 'em, I know you can.
  3. Camo finishes are applied by a dipping process. The finish is a special kind of ink that releases from its backing when placed in a vat of liquid. The ink floats on the surface (sort of like an oil slick), while the backing dissolves into the aqueous solution. The firearm parts are then pulled up through the skim of ink and the ink adheres to the parts. The finish is a bit more delicate than a carefully applied paint, but the advantages are in the pattern consistency and the relatively low cost of application. Because the finish is thinner than paint, and because there's no bonding at the molecular level, like you'd have with a baked on finish like gunkote, the finish may chip when bumped or nicked. This behaviour is normal and for the most part expected by informed and experienced gun buyers. It doesn't bother most buyers, but every now and then some clueless noob comes along and expects the finish on the gun to be impervious to the elements and to normal wear and tear. These are the same kinds of folks who buy a new Benelli and immediately begin griping about it shooting right or left, high or low. They don't take the time to understand the weapon and to get to know it, and they'd rather hop on the Internet and biatch about how much they paid for an imperfect gun than to actually make an effort to learn about it or to adjust for it. IMHO - The MOST of the complaints you read are from the same kinds of folks who would sit a cup of hot coffee in their lap, and then sue someone when it spills on them and burns their little berries off. I yield this stump to the next speaker. As for what you can do about it, there are several choices. 1. Live with it. It's really no big deal. 2. Get on the net and biatch about it. 3. Touch it up yourself if it really bothers you. 4. Don't buy a camo dipped gun if a little chip or two is going to bug you to the point that you can't sleep at night. Care: Wipe down the finish with a damp cloth and wipe dry.

  5. Skeet should be fine. It is between Cylinder and Imp. Cylinder. http://www.choketube.com/benelli.html
  6. Yes. Call Benelli Customer Service.
  7. Could be a number of things. Some have found that certain ribbed shells create problems. I've never had problems with any shells, but I think some have had problems with some Federals and Remingtons here. It could also be that the bolt is slamming shut and then bouncing back open slightly, as there is no mechanism to lock it in place. I'd do these things before giving up. 1. Polish the chamber using a rag swab and some flitz polish. 2. Check the fit of the barrel to the receiver closely. 3. Replace firing pin and firing pin spring. 4. Try other brands of shells. 5. Send a PM to wallhanger and ask him for further advice. He doesn't post here very often, but he's very knowledgable and great troubleshooter. 6. Call Benelli CS and ask them about sending the gun in for them to have a look. Would have been better to do this one in the off season instead of now though.
  8. Assuming you replaced the recoil spring in the stock? Have you disassembled and fully cleaned / lubed the bolt group? The light dents indicate that the bolt is either not closing all the way or it is being jarred back opened slightly. It doesn't take much of a bump on the butt end to make the bolt creep back open enough to cause a problem. The Benelli system is simple as can be, and it shouldn't be hard to diagnose and fix the problem. Is the shell seating into the chamber fully and correctly? If you drop in a shell, does it go all the way in, or is it sticking? What kind of finish is on it and how much are you asking?
  9. I agree with Remy. 26" Super Nova Max4

    New SBE2

There's a slight mod that can be done that will allow the SBEII to hold that extra shell for you Welcome to the SBE club! Post up some pics from the hunts!
  12. I can't see where a 3" magazine would be subject to cycle lighter loads any better than the 3.5". I am curious. In Texas, is it legal to hunt with more than three shells in the gun for all species? In VA, we can only use unrestricted magazines for snow geese.

  14. Ha! Dirt looks up at M1014 and says, "Da-Da".
  15. Nice!
  16. Icer, perhaps you could send johnnywitt a PM with the contact info.?
  17. You're welcome. Don't be discouraged if your scores are a little lower to begin with. Typically, the Italians like to see a little more rib than most Americans, so the sighting takes a little while to get used to where the gun's hitting. Play around with the various shims until you find the one you like the best.
  18. Run a couple of boxes of heavy field loads through it to break it in. Clean it up and you should be good to go. Buy some turkey loads and test your chokes for the best patterns at the ranges you want to hunt. I'd suggest no smaller than 4's for a 20 ga.
  19. Send a PM to M4Madness.
  20. Unfortunately, there's always more to consider than just the matter of whether or not the given candidate supports or opposes rights already guaranteed me by the Constitution. I look at the positions of the given candidates on all issues and vote my conscience. Due to my varying opinions on a wide range of issues, I have yet to find the perfect candidate who was square with me on every issue. I wish more politicians would come to realize that the majority of us fall in the broad and grey middle, instead of hte extreme right or extreme left. Having and keeping the right to own and to use guns is important to me, but it's not the most important thing to me.
  21. Agua, The Legacy would be my choice between those two models. Having the receiver designed like the SBEII (top half comes off with barrel) is an invauable asset when it comes to cleaning and maintenance. I simply like the looks of it better anyway. Blaster, CALL Customer Service, don't count on e-mail. As for not being able to achieve enough drop. If you've maxed it out with the shims, then you're obviously going to have to take additional measures, such as professional fitting, adjustable buttplates, etc. I'm not sure CS will be of much help. Any idea why your physique or form is causing you to need so much drop?
  22. Read this post I made a while back. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/5/105.html Benelli has replaced the barrel nut design that you have (two red dots) with a newer style. They were giving the new style to anyone who requested it through Customer Service. Call them and give them your serial number and tell them that you'd like the new style barrel nut. The new style locks down. When it's tight, it's tight. No red dots to align. Until then, don't be afraid to got a click or two past the red dot if it still feels kind of loose. When I switched mine out I was getting two clicks past before it felt right. I was using the Hoppes Elite and it was working fine on my R1. Regarding the barrel to receiver fit, I don't recall there being any binding as the two ent together, but it's been several months since I've had my hands on a R1. As I recall, the barrel slipped right in, although you should slide the bolt back slightly to allow the barrel to drop in unimpeded. Make sure you disassemble and clean the gas piston assembly. Apply a drop of oil to the o-rings before you take it apart and before you put it back together.
  23. The rings will be QR, but of course the base will stay on the gun, unless you remove the mounting screws.
  24. Depends on the level of corrosion. If it's light surface rust, use BreakFree os similar. If it's deeper, you may have use an ultra fine steel wool with the oil.
  25. Arguably, the greatest rock 'n roll album ever. Definitely one of the top 5. Just thought I'd fill in the blanks for Junior.
