OK. OK. I'm trying to be a kinder, gentler, more compassionate forum member... I slipped. Aksteelman, You have everything you need to answer the question yourself. Simply remove the barrels from each of your shotguns and see if they will swap. The barrel length has no bearing on whether one model's barrel will fit the other. If they interchange, THEN you can move on towards looking for a 28" barrel for either gun. [ 10-14-2006, 11:53 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

On behalf of common sense...

I've read your statement three times, and I think you're saying that you have a Super Sport and a Sport, and that you want to know if the barrels are interchangeable? If you have one of each, what's stopping you from taking them apart and trying it?

10 days. No sale. I don't think a bump is going to help you. www.gunbroker.com

Dennis, All caps makes your post more difficult to read and it makes you appear to be less knowledgable than perhaps you really are. The key labeled "Shift" makes the big letters come and go at will. A great place for big letters is at the beginning of a sentence. What Duggan means by "bump a two year old thread" is that rather than beginning a new thread to ask your new question, you tacked it on to the end of a discussion that ended two years ago. If you look closely, you will see dates by each post. In this case, even though your question does have some relevance to the original one, you would have been better off posting a new question.

Nice vids! "someone close to Benelli" Are you holding out on us here, skidaho

10 days!?! Sheesh! How do stand to live under an oppressive regime?

snow gooser, I am very sorry to hear about your leg. That's tough at any age, but at 15... I can't imagine. You sound like a great young man, and it sounds like you've got a good attitude towards all of this. That's very important. Stay positive and stay focused on your goals, and you'll be back out there in no time. The 1100 is a good gun, and you should have no problems with it. The barrel will be stamped regarding whether it's chambered for 3" or not. If it doesn't have 3" printed on it, it won't take 3". If it is stamped 3", it will handle 2-3/4" and 3" shells. I'd lead off with 2's, followed by BB's. Give them snows He||, young man! We look forward to hearing from you, and don't forget to post some pics of the hunt if you can! God be with you and your family. Scott

Wow! Conflicting information on the Internet. That's gotta be a first!

The Diamonds are made by Franchi, not Benelli. Dick's markets them as made by Benelli, because Dick's Sporting Goods knows about as much about guns as I know about cold fusion. They are similar in design to the Alcione and Veloce, but a little less fancy. Made in Italy. Excellent value!

Speculation on Federal regulations - Benelli M4

Here's what amazes me about the place. I posted a link to an article regarding some illegal immigrants, only I refered to them using a commonly used slang term. Derogatory? Probably no more the term "Illegal" should be. My post was deleted for containing a racial epithet, and my membership was revoked. Today, I was looking around on there to see if anything worthwhile was there and I ran across this thread. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=505866 In a supposedly PC mindful forum, this thing is 11 pages long and still going strong Looks to me like they pick and choose their morals as needed. Duggan, I agree that there is some solid information there, and I further agree that the General Discussion is full of children and morons. -
1. Don't know, but it's one of two scenarios, IMO. Either the .308 is unpopular and will be dropped from the R1 lineup completely, or they just haven't gotten around to doing it in the ComforTech yet. My hunch is the former. 2. ANY rifle chambered for .308 Win. will fire 7.62 x 51 ammo without a problem. There are instances where problems have arised when trying to use .308 ammo in precision rifles chambered for 7.62, because a slight difference in the headspace. http://www.fulton-armory.com/308.htm Some surplus 7.62 ammo has caused problems in AR's and other auto-fed weapons. These problems have been associated not with case size variances, but with a lacquer coating (for longer shelf life) found on some of the milsurp stuff. Turns out, this coating, when heated under firing conditions, briefly liquifies and flows into the microscopic pores in the steel in the rifle's chamber. This fills the chamber slightly with the lacquer that solidifies into a nearly impenetrable build-up. Over time, the chamber ID is reduced and cases begin to stick. My DPMS came with an insert warning against the use of lacquer coated ammo in general and SA ammo specifically. 3. No need to modify. See #2 regarding SA ammo. 4. No experience with them. Here's a photoshopped image of how it should look. Comments: The Benelli R1 is NOT designed to be a high volume repeater. If you heat it up using a 10 round magazine in rapid fire sequences, you WILL have problems both with fouling and with heat damage to the throat and barrel. If you want a high volume repeater that you can hunt with, but also have some fun with, then look at an AR from DPMS, Armalite, Stag Arms, etc. Here's mine. You can get them .308, 260 Rem., .223, 300 SAUM, 300 WSM, .243, and more and more good stuff is coming out every day.

Speculation on Federal regulations - Benelli M4

IMHO, it's sensitive because the BATF knows that there a thousands of such weapons out there and the owners of Benellis for the most part are not the lawbreaking type. The BATF has better things to do and bigger fish to fry, than to have to worry about applying some BS law to the letter against otherwise law-abiding and upstanding citizens. Of course, the enforcement personell at the BATF cannot officially say such things, as this would stick in the craw of the child molesting, alcoholic, embezzling, cheating, lying, theiving politicians who worked so hard to appease some special interest group by enacting the retarded law to begin with. Don't ask the question if there's a chance you won't like the answer! Also see Constitution of the United Staes of Amercia - Ammendment 2. -
It helps to push the shell forward into the magazine slightly while pressing the release button. This removes the friction between the shell brass and the catch.

Since Browning introduced the BAR in the camo finishes this year, I would expect to see the camo R1 very soon. [ 10-08-2006, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

AR, I don't believe the barrel is crio treated. The camo finish is a good choice and will require minimal care, but the metal internals should still be cleaned and lubed appropriately. The camo finishes on all guns will chip here and there when they take a substantial nick or rub, but it's nothing to fret over. Touch it up with some paint or keep a dab of oil on it now and then. Having shot a SBEII for a couple of years now, I couldn't imagine going back to an 11-87. I'd still choose the I-12 over the Remington, even it were $200 more.

Not while it's raining, but whenever mine is exposed to penetrating moisture, I completely tear it down and clean and lube everything. Strip it down completely and recheck it.
