  1. 2 philips head screws hold the recoil pad on. Remove the pad. Use an 11mm deep well socket to remove the stock nut. Stock slides right off.
  2. Probably what you got out of the barrel....hello?...from the slugs is lead, not chrome. Think about it. Slugs will lead up the bore. Get a Hoppes tornado brush to clean the lead from the bore, use it dry and it will pull the lead out of the bore. If you see pits in the barrel, then you can say the lining is comming out. Not saying it can't happen but its rather unlikely.
  3. The Comfortech stock will only fit the SBE2, M2, Sport2, Super Sport. If you'll notice, the receiver is narrower, the stock shims are different and there is no cutout for the bottom tang on the triggerguard on the new stocks. So if you have a Benelli made before the 2's came out you're pretty much stuck with what you've got. I doubt they'll ever make anything to retrofit the old ones. No one would want to buy the new ones if they did.
  4. I have never seen a sliding SS mechanism of any kind that didnt require oil. Not oiling something like the sure cycle is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Sounds like marketing at its finest.
  5. I have found in the past using Brownells AlumaHyde II works very well. Clean it well spray it on and don't touch it and let it cure for about a week at least. Had it on one of my guns for a year or so and is still holding tough.
  6. What a lovely sight.....Note to self: Don't leave any bags of flaming **** on 1014's doorsetp on Halloween, lol.
  7. SBE, SBEII, M1, M2, Monte, Legacy as long as it's 12 ga, it's the same bolt body just a different bolt link on the back (depending upon 3'' or 3.5''). Look for the bolt body for a 12ga Montefeltro not the bolt assembly. The bolt body is just hardened steel. Blasted and blued many of em, no fancy finish on them. There is also a chrome trigger that's made for the Monte's and Legacy's. Again, this will fit any Benelli semi auto M1, SBEII etc. Yeah, Brownells can really stiff ya on parts sometimes. Call Benelli's main office number, they'll probably give you a price 1/2 of what Brownell's wants.
  8. Well lets see here. The locking head and locking head pin are already chromed tougher than anything I've ever seen. The real problem you may run into is this: tolerances... There is a given amount of play needed for the bolt to work freely enough around the locking head to operate the gun. Chrome plating the spring, methinks bad idea. The pounding and flexing that goes on there I think would flake it off and screw things up. But guess what?...this is America and you can do whatever you want with that gun. Go ahead, put some bling bling shiny stuff in that sportin gun and get it on. In reality though, Benelli does make a chrome bolt body and bolt handle that will fit. All you have to do is change out the bolt link and you'll have a factory jobber. BTW, don't forget to take out the bolt handle detent ball, pin and spring. Out is easy, back in, have a friend.
  9. The bolt peening and gas piston breakage have mostly been due to the "low recoil" 4 gas port barrel. I would be wary of shooting many heavy loads in it. The other barrel is available (2 gas ports). So many people buying them wanting to shoot trap loads and they wouldnt cycle so Benelli caved in and made a 4 port barrel. This I feel is a failing mark to the M4 gun itself because I love mine. It had these problems and the repair was done free of charge. New barrel (2 port), bolt body and 1 gas piston. Little over 1000 rounds since then and no problems to speak of yet since I shoot mostly 3'' buck and slugs.
  10. Good answer tucker...lol. But to attempt to answer summerjacks question...there is alot of technology that goes into making Benellis. Also, with the inertia design, they are a unique functioning gun. As opposed to gas operation, there is much less fouling to deal with hence a cleaner operation. Also, made in Italy, it costs a little more to get it over here. The 3 inch gun is just that the maximum size shell it will handle is a 3'', not a 3.5''. For my part, they are extremely user friendly easy to clean and maintain, few moving parts and to just drive home what tucker said, the performance is worth the price. GO BENELLI!!!
  11. You can relieve the pressure it takes to remove the forend on the M2/SBE2 by taking a rough cabinet rasp to the inside of it. The tight spot is all the way around on the inside about 2 inches from the back end. Just file some of the plastic out of it and it will work more smoothly. This will not affect the function of the gun. As for the snap caps, they aren't the same specs as dummy rounds and you shouldn't try loading them in the magazine, they have a habit of getting stuck. Sounds like you're having fun, keep it up.
  12. In my experience, I've had the best luck with the Federal 3'' rifiled slug with a IC choke. Dont use anything tighter than this in a Benelli. Tried the Rem Buckhammer, was terrible.
  13. Well if you want to call it an upgrade ( I do anyway), the new Montefeltros magtube is now accessible from the distal end. It now has flats on it and is made like the new recoil spring tube plug, a nylon lock screw. So now you dont have to heat the receiver to remove and clean the mag assembly. Other than that, I dont really see how such a good gun as this can be changed.
  14. I agree with Mudhen. Cleaning and oiling go a long way. Just because something is aftermarket doesnt mean it's better, but I'm sure the local shop will appreciate your patronage. The "competition" Sure Cycle spring may help feed, but if the gun is too heavy it will certainly slow the action. Why people refuse to oil the internal workings of a gun is still a mystery to me.
  15. Stocks cannot be interchanged because of the new style triggerguard and contour of the receiver. Forends and barrels can be interchanged but thats about it.
  16. Better yet just send it to Benelli, they cover ejector problems under warranty for life because of the design. After they put mine in a couple of years ago it worked great. No problems since.
  17. Used the Militec on my guns for 10 years at least. No problems to report. Anything synthetic is ok except for that tri-flow stuff. Turns to glue.
  18. Im pretty sure it is not offered at all because the max 4 camo is 99% for duck and goose hunting. Your best bet is to buy the black one and send it somewhere to get it camoed.
  19. Yup, I agree. Buy the SBE but forget the Surely-wont-cycle. Found that they aint worth a flyin fart. Just because something is aftermarket doesnt mean its better. Some things are...this one isnt. In my experience, the factory assembly is by far better. Just take care of it, love it, oil it (oil on a Benelli is love) and go shoot the devil out of it and have fun. Mine is 10 years old, all factory original parts and has never failed me. Enjoy.
  20. Just as an addition....this is an inertia operating gun. It has to recoil in order to operate. You make it too heavy with side saddles, bulky, heavy lights, magtube exts, and with a full complement of ammo the dang thing is too heavy to recoil. I cant stand a side saddle or a heavy gun. So heres my 2 cents. Wear a bandolier or 2, go with the surefire lighting system (less than 1/2 the weight) and use a straight stock, PGs just get in the way (have to use it for real and find out). You wont have a heavy gun, it will cycle better, your arms wont fatigue as soon from carrying a boat anchor therefore better shot placement. Works for me.
  21. Man what a reaming rip off!!! Never seen a bunch of whiners blame their inability to shoot a gun instead of with a gun. Go ahead, blame it on the gun like you always do. Never could be the cheap ammo or proper oiling or manhandling of the gun. These people will always make money on the weekend warrior instead of the real life practical shooter and good for them. Because I know from experience when the chips are down anytime, anyplace, without any aftermarket parts, I can rely on my factory parts and do anything to mine that needs to be done. I'll take on any M4 or M1 tac. anyday with my stock parts and go the distance.
  22. Yup I know....because thats the way its supposed to be. Its designed to stay up until you cycle the action so it doesnt catch your thumb or finger every time you load a shell in the magazine.
  23. Another of the many things you can do is make sure you aren't trying to shoot anything like Win Super speed or Universal or the Rem gun club ammo. Most of it is cheap and wont cycle reliably in any autoloader. Use a good AA load or Super hadicap load. Seen Benellis with 5000+ rounds through them without weakening any springs. Just clean it and oil it properly, bolt, bolt rails and recoil assy. Without oil these guns wont cycle even the heavy loads. Remember the recoil spring isnt so much to aid in recoil as it is to push the bolt foreward to feed the next round into the chamber.
  24. So, have you taken it out for a spin yet? Let me know how it works out. J
