  1. I have it on my boat motor (4 years). Very tough stuff. Highly recommend it. Edit: However, the time and trouble(not real bad trouble) that it takes to put it on is well worth the price of buying a pre-camoed gun or even sending it off to be dipped. 2. Got to handle one recently . . . I liked it. Wondered for a second if I shouldn't switch back to a pump gun. Just for a second.
  3. Well thank you. Seems I cleaned and ate it before I could get it officially scored. [ 04-17-2006, 08:58 PM: Message edited by: IdahoDucker ]
  4. I didn't count my pattern tests but the bird I got today at about 40 yards (my buddy swears it was more like 45. Had all but one hit in the head/neck and that one went through the lower leg and into the gut. Go figure. Might have to rename mine the Jellyneck in this case. SBE1, Jellyhead, 3.5" Federal Mag-Shok 5's.
  5. My first one. 29 pounds, 13 inch beard and 2 1/2 inch spurs. Can you believe it? Have to start somewhere I guess.
  6. The sbe2 page doesn't show it but if you click the specifications link there and scroll down you will see the list of non-comfortech guns. At the bottom they also list a non-comfortech turkey gun.
  7. I normally go to Alaska every summer and I really like to carry my .44 while I'm in the bush. It's such a pain to get it through Canada that I have it sent ahead of me. Cost's just $20 cdn. and a couple of minutes of paperwork to bring a shotgun and two rifles through. Pick one of the hundred of thousands of crime victims here in the US who have stopped those crimes because they were able to carry a gun and then tell them they didn't need it. Estimates have been as high as 2.5 million times a year that US citizens use a gun for protection.
  8. Hey . . . what exactly was the question in the first place???
  9. Four cases of beer might cause that. Maybe it was the caffeine while trying to recover from the beer. Who knows.
  10. It will depend on your choke and load combination. But with the right one 50 isn't unreasonable. Pattern testing is important at that range. Lead 4's are going plenty fast enough at 50 yards but you still need to consistantly have several of them in the head/neck.
  11. That would be nice. Maybe they'll make it easier to bring guns into/through Canada too. It's not exactly a pain now but less restriction would be better. Especially with handguns.
  12. Simply use the search function on this forum and type in "4th shell" or "floating a round" or anything similar. Here's one for free. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1310.html#000000
  13. Ditto. Broke the front bead off my old Mossy and didn't care. Concentrate on the bird and you can't see it anyway cause it's too out of focus.
  14. Frenchie, Break in loads would be anything you might use for ducks or pheasants. 2 3/4 or 3" doesn't matter. Find something in 1 1/4 ounces of shot or more and it'll do the job. Of course now the weekend is over so maybe you already did it.
  15. HA! Mine is centered. Neener neener. It's an SBE1 at that. So all you uppity 2 owners can just put that in your pipe and smoke it!

  17. Hey Frenchie, The SBEII is not designed to shoot "light" loads. Benelli specifically recommends nothing less than 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz loads. It's an inertia driven shotgun. Meaning it has to have sufficient recoil to cycle. Light loads, especially in a new gun, may not cycle. Some guns will cycle 1 oz. loads after a sufficient break in period but don't count on it. It's a hunting gun so expect it to perform accordingly. With normal hunting loads you should never have a problem.
  18. I guess I could have found that myself. Got to handle one the other day. Pretty nice. Those prices are a bit higher than the one I found.
  19. HA!! One of my favorite rants . . . Winchester ammo. Don't know why but it hates me so I'm hating it back. I've never tried it in my SBE because I simply won't buy it any more. I've had two semiauto rifles have troubles with only winchester ammo and recently my brother has cycling problems with only winchester in his Ruger MKIV (or V or whatever it is) pistol. I know a lot of people use only winchester shotshells and have no problems but not me. Anyway, the Wally's here stock both winchester and federal 2.75" 1 1/8 oz. "All Purpose" loads and I always buy the feds and have not had a problem. End of rant. For now anyway.
  20. It says that those chokes are made by Trulock. Maybe they have them at www.trulockchokes.com.
  21. What would the expected price be on one compared to an M4? [ 03-08-2006, 10:24 PM: Message edited by: IdahoDucker ]
  22. Mongo, The S&W forum that deasmuth meantioned has a very active classified section if you're interested in selling it that way.
  23. I've had it out once and shot it 18 times and decided to stop. I am now putting together the necessary reloading equipment/supplies to tame it a bit. I want to shoot this gun a lot so I'm completely comfortable with it. Hate to be fumbling around if I ever need it up north. Remy, I don't intend to find out what it sounds like without ear protection. Only if I don't have a choice. Foam plugs work great for me because I can get them way in my ear. Big canals I guess. I should probably get some muffs though. MONGO, Lighty used at $560. The lowest I'd found was $600 and that was on an auction site and I didn't feel like sending that much money to a stranger. Was quoted $700 for a new one in the Trail Boss version if the exclusive distributor had any in stock. I believe the Trail Boss is the only S&W .44 currently being offered in 3" and it's very limited. I like the looks of it better with the shorter underlug but I had to take what I could get. FN_FAL, You may already know this but if your Mountain Gun has the round butt the hogue grips for the 500 will fit it. Should reduce the felt recoil as that's what it's supposed to do for the 500. I just ordered a set. I've heard some pretty stupid opinions of the .22. It becomes doubly dangerous when people think it's not much more than air gun you had as a kid. I educated a guy once buy showing him what a .22 hollow point will do to a ground squirrel. He was shocked.
