  1. The 500 was on my short list. A 3" 44 was first then the Mountain Gun, then the 500. The price was what put it last. Not sure how common the 3" 629's are but it was hard for me to find.
  2. Here they are as measured by another member. http://www.benelliusa.com/forums/ultimatebb.php/topic/7/137.html
  3. Most excellent but I bet it'll be 50% more expensive than HS.
  4. I'm not possitive but I think they use the .357 instead of the .44.
  5. S&W 629-4. .44 mag., 3" barrel, nonfluted cylinder. Hard to find model and I've been looking for almost a year. Walked into a local shop today on a whim and there it was. I am now better prepared for my next Alaska trip.
  6. I've had aluminum welding done on two outboard motors and both times I just went through the phone book until a welder advertised that he did aluminum. Both were guys who had nice shops at their houses and both did excellent work. One welded a crack for $20 and the other attached a new skeg for $20. Should be easy to find someone who can do it.
  7. It's available in the US. Search "camo dipping" on google.
  8. The factory chokes in my SBE1 recess about 1/16" and my brothers M2 goes about 1/32".
  9. I use Breakfree CLP for everything on my camo SBE. No problems. I have seen the gun scrubber type stuff cause problems with older painted on type camo so I avoid it except to occasionally blast out the trigger assembly but only after it is out of the gun.
  10. CLP . . . excellent stuff. If I remember right CLP has been the product that has come closest to meeting military specifications since the seventies when it was invented. Could be something better now but I haven't heard of it. I saw the breakdown as to how CLP compares to the milspec and it was pretty impressive. Didn't meet everything 100% but pretty close. Can't find that site now. Anyway, I haven't found a reason to use anything else.
  11. mudhen, You can send it to me at [email protected] and I'll put it up here in big size. I'd like to get a closer look myself. idahoducker
  12. I've seen that page but that's it.
  13. I will let you know how the Primos JellyHead does shortly. My gun is the SBE1 though so you'll have to consider that. [ 02-25-2006, 10:19 PM: Message edited by: IdahoDucker ]
  14. HOLY COW!!!! RELAX a bit. Gee whiz! Ever think that maybe nobody knows or cares or just plain hasn't read your question yet?
  15. I get good results with the factory modified choke in my SBE using Kent 3" 1 1/8 oz. #3's so I haven't bothered to try anything else. Tempting though. Always room to improve I guess.

    New M2

$1099 plus tax here so that's not bad.
  17. I've heard of that happening with too light of a grip too. If the gun can slip back through your hand your finger is probably going to get whacked. Not sure if the reducer will work in the M2.
  18. Hey, cut that out! Very close. They're pretty much all good on the border. Islands there are considered common ground so either states license is good.
  19. Good point. I might be a little biased as to what I consider to be considerable recoil. I had a double barrel 10 gauge for a few years and once while testing turkey loads both barrels went off at once. Let me tell you, one load from any twelve gauge is nothing compared to what that was and it weighed 13 pounds. Good idea.
  20. Alright already, I'm on. skdidaho, you know that island on the river on the western border? I hunt on it.
  21. I must respectfully disagree with usmarine about the recoil thing. I have a couple of friends with Xtrema's and one with an Ithaca Mag 10. As far as their shoulders and mine go, my SBE kicks harder than any of theirs. We often trade guns while shooting clays or pattern testing and they always comment about feeling my gun more and vice versa for me. Others with pump guns think my SBE feels about the same as theirs with the same loads. Maybe it's just us but SBE's have to have recoil to operate while it's the nature of gas guns to absorb it.
  22. It's not a problem. The camo issue falls into the same category as "My Benelli kicks too much", "My Benelli won't cycle 7/8 oz. loads" and "Benelli choke tubes aren't interchangeable". A few people have come here complaining that their $1200 SBE didn't come with a $1200 paint job. See mudhens reply in the other thread for an explanation of the "problems" with the camo.
  23. Some highlights from southwest Idaho. 21 + 1 28 28 My brothers first of 3 bands this season. 8 years since his last one. A fine specimen. [ 02-19-2006, 08:12 PM: Message edited by: IdahoDucker ]
  24. Dang, I almost missed this one. Where are these people coming from? Valid questions and concerns along with valid responces and answers are what make forum so useful on the web. MasterB started out with some good info and then turned it into a troll simply because he expects Benelli to do everything for him. He bought it without checking first. (do I hear an echo?) His fault. Secondly, gdf, he did not start off with a question nor was he seeking advice. He came on here to say that this site sucks. He really did. You can read it right up there. If you had really been reading these posts for the last six months you might see why some of the folks here are loosing patience with this kind of thing. There's a lot of great info to be found and shared here. "web site lacks more data...it sucks!" doesn't do anybody any good. People who buy a Benelli, or anything else, without first making sure it's really what they want or need are the ones who need to catch a clue. Foolishness does not warrant compassion. Anybody got odds on when the next "A $1400 shotgun should have zero recoil!" post will show up? That's my favorite one.
  25. http://www.gunsprings.com is a good source for that kind of stuff. I don't know specifically about pros and cons of using a lighter spring but have heard they work. The description of their light Benelli spring says it's for the Super 90 but I think I've read here that it works in other models. Ask them first or maybe someone here know for sure.
