    Elk Hunting

I would contact the local Fish and Game and see what they recommend. Generally speaking they are quite helpful with such things.
  3. Oh, and if you are trying to put up something related to waterfowl, you might consider doing it in the Benelli Waterfowl forum, rather than here.
  4. To post a picture your picture should hosted (saved) somewhere else, like Photobucket or some place like that. Then you can just use the "image" tags from here for all of us to see. You simply do this by clicking the "image" button, and putting in the url (web address of the picture) you want us to see.
  5. Personally I would go with the M2. Still shoots upto a 3" shell, less money, and you can get it camo for your turkey hunt. I am by no means an expert, though, that is just my thoughts from checking them out on Benelli's website.
  6. Wait! No one told me we could exchange family members!!
  7. Welcome aboard.
  8. Good information. Read the manual. Adjust in the manner Tucker and Dave suggested. Also found a couple books. Not sure if they are worth anything but they talk about what I'm asking, essentially. Wing shooting hand book. Shotgunning: The art and the science. Thanks for the advice, gentlemen. 9. I think I'm not conveying things very well. I can read the manual and that in and of itself is good advice for learning about the gun, and how to properly maintain it. RTFM. I guess I'm wondering more if I'm "doing it right", how I'm holding it, how I'm aiming, and the "why's" of the situation. Why do I do it this way or that way, type of a thing. I found a site with some tips and what not, though I'm not sure how great they are: http://www.ospschool.com/know.html#tempo Any good books on how to shoot properly that you guys would recommend? I mean, I can go out and hunt and knock birds down, but I'd like to improve how I'm doing it, and know that I at least am doing it properly rather than just tossing shot around and getting lucky once in a while. Does that make sense or am I babbling?
  10. I'm not sure what a lot of things mean, such as this: Or this: Drop, cast, shims, adjustable comb, etc. I mean, I know what some things are, but I don't know how you adjust them or why you would. Is there a newbie guide for such things? And can all shotguns be adjusted or just certain ones? I dislike sounding like I am completely uneducated, but over all I probably am. I can hunt and have done since I could pack a rifle, but there is a lot to learn still, and I would like to become a proficient shooter. I have a lot of questions but am often unsure of how to ask them or what to ask, even. Simple things, like how often to clean a gun, and how to clean it, how to properly aim, how to adjust things on your shotgun to make it fit you better or to help improve your aim, etc... etc... Thanks for the advice if you have any.
  11. I've never been a member of a hunting club so have no idea how much something like this should cost. The guy that I have training my dog does his training out at a local hunting club, and yesterday when we introduced Uli to the gun it was the first time I had been out there. Western Wings looks like a pretty nice place. You can go shoot trap or skeet, plus have a couple thousand acres that you can hunt on in season and out, as well as have a place to take your dog year round if you like. What I'm wondering about is cost. Do their prices look "ok" to those of you that are members of this type of thing? $650 for a yearly membership - it just seems like a lot of cash to me, but as I said, I'm not familiar with this type of thing so that might be in line. Any input is appreciated. Thanks. [ 08-13-2005, 01:38 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  12. Second grouse of the year, once again while I was at work and out of hunting season.
  13. Blurb from Wild Fowl magazine.
  14. He's being helped. NO ONE here said that Benelli shouldn't help him. No one. Everyone agreed that he should be helped and taken care of better than he had been, by Benelli. He left word with Tucker saying what's happening. A Benelli rep even came in the thread and said they are talking to him. What more needs to be said? I'm all for a good argument, but you can't get blood from a turnip.
  15. Very good showing. Oh, and just so all you zip heads take notice, chica mentioned ME by name. Admit it, you slogs are all jealous now.
  16. Question the man? True, I did say "assuming everything being told to us is true" and why wouldn't I? No offence to Brice, but I don't know him from Adam, so a quantifying statement hardly seems out of order. Against us or with us? Us who? The people I'm agreeing with? If the gun isn't functioning as intended, I AGREE that Benelli should fix it, free of charge. Yet I STILL do not think this type of action on a public forum on the internet is something that a large coporation would suddenly change it's mind from. I wasn't looking for a fight or argument. Some of you might be squeezing the Charmin just a little too tightly.
  17. I still agree, and no matter what else you say I'll still be on your side!!
  18. I voted for him as well, yet that doesn't change the fact that what I said is true. And in no way was I trying to imply that anyone here would support a dishonest poll, just that we have one guys word for what's going on without any verification. So yes, assuming that the information we have been provided is accurate / true, then yes, I support Benelli giving him a new barrel. And again, if this poll sways Benelli in any way shape or form... I will be very surprised - despite $8,000 effin dollars. [ 08-03-2005, 10:28 AM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  19. As stated above, if the facts are being honestly presented to us, then yes, it sounds like Benelli should take care of him. This is a real concern, and not just because of this one instance, but I could have sworn that I've read in another thread here that Benelli's shoot a little high as well. Or at least one of the models does. Admittedly I've never looked that close at my Nova's pattern, but I hope that isn't the case. I would also hope that if the gun itself was defective I would get better satisfaction than this fellow has seen. It's common knowledge in the business world that if you please a customer he'll tell a couple friends, but if you piss him off he'll tell ALL his friends. That's bad for business, though when you have a national and even global company, maybe you just don't care. Dunno, hard to say. I guess I'd like to see how far off the gun shoots to see what Benelli considers to be "in spec" or "within tolerance". And while I like the idea of the poll, I'd be surprised if it lead to any type of outcome for the guy with the right-wing shooter. If Benelli allowed themselves to be swayed by a poll on their forums, every free-loader in the free world would be here starting up a poll. Unfortunately.
  20. In some households the answer is "Not soon enough".

  24. Uli (ooo-lee) will be a year old on the 10th of August. Here he is sitting out front of our home: He's had a month of training. Two more to go and we'll be out chasing birds.
