  1. I haven't seen this anywhere else in any of the forums I read that include Benelli shotguns. I did see a couple guys that have Xtrema 2's complaining about this, but I think they also were the exception. More information like Tucker suggested would be helpful. That way these fellers that are in the know can give you some sound advice. The easiest thing to do would be to swap to a different brand of 3 1/2 inch shell to see if it's a manufacturer problem.
  2. welcomE aboard joE1111 Ok, I'm done messing with Tucker, now. Welcome to the forum, Joe. If Tucker likes you then you are most likely a stand-up guy. Enjoy.
  3. I hope you guys are able to get your problems sorted out. Sucks to buy something new and not have it work like you thought it would. However, being a business man I know that when someone calls me and tells me they are about to sue me for whatever, my first instinct is to recite to them "my" lawyers phone number and wish them well. I tend to believe that it's best to try to resolve the issue and or find out what can be done about it before threatening to sue someone. If customer service said they wouldn't do anything about it, why? What did they tell you? What was their reasoning for telling you the gun is fine? Perhaps some of the guys here have heard the answers and can further guide you along, or direct you to someone above the front line of customer service. Then again, maybe they are just buttheads and you will need a lawyer. Dunno. Toss out what info you have here and hopefully some of these fine fellows will help you out.
  4. Great pictures, guys. Savage, how do you like your Owens dog box? Would it stand up in cold weather? As in, 0-20 degrees? For keeping the dog warm, that is. [ 11-28-2005, 08:40 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  5. Check out this web site for a quick and easy way to clean your birds. I'd bet that this would work great on waterfowl as well, assuming you don't mind skinning them. Enjoy.
  6. Another good show. This episode was about Apalachian Turkey dogs. This old feller picked out the traits he wanted for turkey dogs and basically created his own breed of dog. He's been breeding them for about 40 years now, and it was interesting to watch. Dog runs in, barks and busts up the birds (should note that this is for fall turkey hunting, not spring), then they stick the dog in a camo bag and keep him covered up while they wait for the birds to return. Very interesting use of dogs, I thought. ESPN2, comes on about 5:00 A.M. my time (MST). During the show they give some shooting tips, and at the end they give some tips on ammo. Thanks to Tucker for the heads up on when and where the show airs. Great show.
  7. I would get him used to some form of loud noises before you do that, or at the very least keep him on a leash or line of some kind when you fire off the rounds. I had a dog that as soon as he heard a loud noise he would take off on a dead run and wouldn't stop until he couldn't run any more. That would pretty much suck to find out while you are out hunting.
  8. Our first pheasant hunt didn't result in harvesting any birds, but we had fun nevertheless. Uli's first point was on a downed bird. It was a hen, and from the looks of it she had been shot that morning before we had arrived (wasn't completely stiff yet). If you look close you can see her next to his right front foot.

I should have made note that those are not my children, and those are not my dogs.

  11. I really really like this composite O/U. If I ever spend that kind of money on an O/U this will be in the running for sure. [ 11-08-2005, 09:46 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  12. Good episode. It was (as you said) nice to see dogs working something other than upland birds.
  13. Ack! Scratch that. They are quite a bit more than that. Hmm... now where did I see the $40 ones? Dang it... Found it - I was looking at the "kids" model. Whoops? Cheapest pair otherwise is $150. [ 11-07-2005, 03:56 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  14. So out in the field some custom jobbies like these might be ok? Or would you recommend going to a gun show or shoot and having them done? Looks like on those above you still have to go somewhere, and they aren't that bad of a price. ~$40.
  15. What do you guys use, if anything? Do any of you have anything that you would highly recommend?
  16. Ah, yeah that sounds more correct. Not sure why I was thinking .40 cal. I actually shot my first eld with a .243, so I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking? My dad just got to shoot one of those .50 cal S&W's. Said it was a really nice gun, but it would lift right up out of his off hand, straight up, every time they shot it, and it was a ported model. He had fun though. [ 11-06-2005, 08:46 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  17. You have to be above a .40 cal to be legal to hunt big game with a handgun, right? I can't remember if that's where the cut-off is or not.
  18. Dirty Harry has -nothing- on this bad boy. Seen pictures of a moose that was taken with one of these. I think you need one, Tucker.

Glad to see you're back. Have a speedy recovery.
  20. Would be nice to see a web page for it with the rest of it's technical info.

Haven't heard anything yet either (not that I would as I'm no one special either ) but am also hoping it went well for him.
  23. Grinding wheel? I think I'd take Mudhens advice first before I took a grinding wheel to my $1200 gun. But that's just me.
