  1. Actually it looks dry because I don't have my yard in yet :-S Working on getting someone to come and put in a sprinkler system and hydroseed. But yeah, he likes to nap on that chair.
  2. Uli (ooo-lee) will be a year old on the 10th of August. Here he is sitting out front of our home: He's had a month of training. Two more to go and we'll be out chasing birds.
  3. Ever take it off any sweet jumps?
  4. What kind of bike do you have?
  5. Ithaca gun owners that sent their weapons in for repair prior to the doors closing are now slowly getting their guns back. Glad to hear this. Would suck to lose a gun to a coroporation going out of business.
  6. For ease of reference: http://www.trapdude.com/
  7. To go with your Crio treated barrel, yes they are Crio chokes, they just aren't "extended" Crio chokes. Yeah, what Tucker said.
  8. And what is the main reason for wanting extended chokes? Easy to put in and out and easy to see what you have in? Anything else?
  9. Wow, I never even thought of that. Excellent question. I'll be interested to hear what some of these guys have to say about that. As for Timber vs. Max4 - I agree, I like the Timber better, but the more you look at the Max4 I think you will change your mind. It really is quite versitile as for where you can use it for its intended purpose. SBE II 28" Max4. If I get a Benelli, that's the one I'll be getting.

A quote off the Comfortech pages: You can adjust models with the ComforTech™ buttstock to your personal requirements using a shim kit that adjusts drop and cast. So yes, you are good to go.

Well, it comes with the Comfortech stock, so I believe it'll take the shims just like it will on the SBEII. I think.
  12. I haven't worked him at all, but he's at the trainers three days a week for the last month. He's got two more months of that and I can very much tell the difference in him already - he is "very" birdie now. I'll be going with him in a week or so, so that we can introduce him to gun fire. He's not afraid of loud noises so far, and he's heard me shooting my gun a couple hundred yards away (shotgun and pistol), but nothing up close yet.
  13. Waylon! Where are the blind pic updates! Oh, and back on topic - nice gear.
  14. Saw my first Blue Grouse today. Had never seen one before and while I was at work headed to a remote tower site there was one on the road near the top of the mountain we were on. Got fairly close as he wasn't interested in flying off. Looking forward to hunting this fall!!
  15. Cool! I watch this show a couple times a week, really enjoy it. You'll have to keep us posted when the time gets closer so we can watch!
  16. Oh, and as long as there is not "bait" there I suppose it would be "legal" though it borders on "ethical". Tough call.
  17. In case you don't know who the guy in the picture is, think "Pavlovs theory".
  18. It's been said here that the SBEII is one of the competitors listed in this graph: With that in mind, it would look like the Xtrema2 kicks less. I handled both guns last Friday after work, and man, I am still hard pressed to decide. They both shoulder well and each have features that I like. Lucky for me my funds are drained so I have time to decide.
  19. Me too! Because his would sell really fast, and then so would mine!

The Veloce? Really? I guess I just figured you for a 12ga guy. So what are you going to get? The 20ga, or 28ga? Or maybe the 20/28 barrel set? Nice gun, no doubt. I'm looking forward to someone buying a new gun! Because I can't yet! WHOO HOO! [ 07-01-2005, 10:54 PM: Message edited by: sdkidaho ]
  21. At least that good, if not better. Turkeys have "very" good eyesight. If they could smell and hear like a deer, you'd probably never kill one.
  22. Biggest does not equal best. I fully agree with the statement above. Where I am from the 30-06 is a very popular weapon for elk, and I am definitely in elk country. I grew up 40 miles north of Jackson Hole Wyoming, and so I'm familiar with elk, deer and moose hunting. A 30-06 is a well rounded weapon of choice, and I would have to agree that the 7mm or 300 mag are as well. But, with this exception: As I have mentioned in other threads, I really dislike being kicked while I shoot. So, while the 30-06 is a great weapon, I killed my first elk with a .243 and since then I have never been of the opinion that I needed the biggest caliber anything to be an efficient or effective hunter. Were it me buying a new hunting rifle I would seriously be considering a 280, and as Tucker said, Savage Arms. They make a good gun at an affordable price. Of course if you don't mind the kick, by all means, go with a larger bore and choose the 30-06, 7mm, or 300mag. As for me... I'll be sticking with my feathered friends for one reason: Once their dead, the fun isn't over, and I can carry several back to the truck without breaking a sweat. Big game hunting is a blast, I really have enjoyed it in my life, but, my wife and daughters won't eat the wild game, and it's too much like work once the critter is dead. I suppose if I was concerned with trophy hunting I would get back into it, but... I'm not. These aren't mine, well, the antelope is, the rest are Dads: Left to right: Pine Martin. Rocky Mtn. Bighorn. 6x6 Bull Elk. 14"+ Antelope. 30 pound Lake Trout. We did plenty of hunting, fishing, and trapping growing up. Good memories. Good luck with your choice of gun. Oh, and were it me, I'd go stainless and synthetic.
  23. I am by no means an expert on Turkey hunting, in fact I am -very- much a novice. I've been doing it for three seasons and I have yet to bag a bird. Two springs in South Dakota, and this spring here in Idaho. It is just such a blast that even though I've never filled a tag, I keep coming back. A great place for turkey hunting advice / information is The Wild Turkey Zone, it's another forum like this one, but it's geared towards hunting turkeys mostly. It's a great bunch of folks there as well. As for hunting turkey from a tree stand, yes, I've considered it, but I'm not sure how well it would work out. I can't think of a good reason why it wouldn't, but that would be a great question to post over in that other forum.
