Yes, very nice. No more "dime store space gun look". I'm glad you liked the "un"-limiter. Thanks for posting the pix. Joe

Thanks for taking the time and effort. I had calculated about the. My tubes are 8.5 oz, so a bit heavier, but not much, about the weight of one 12ga round. I still have a few FL tubes ready for quick shipment, they are in matte black "Diamond Kote" and one still uncoated for someone looking for a custom color. [email protected]

Before you install that beauty, any chance of getting an acurate weight. Would be good info to answer the question as to how much lighter the CC tube is as compared to my 4130 steel tube (8.5 oz). I had calculated that the TI tube should be about 5 oz.
-
Aluminum... I would be concerned that an AL tube with wall thickness sufficient to resist denting would not be that much lighter than the thin wall chrome-moly tube. Any small dent is likley to hang up the follower, preventing feeding.... not a good thing!

Thanks for asking , but I'll leave the TI stuff to CC, he aparently does very nice work with that material and has dedicated fans. I'm set up in my small shop to do the FL tubes in 4130 chrome-moly steel, an outstanding alloy for this application. The weight difference, is actually pretty small, I figure about 3.6 OZ, and when you figure it on a percentage basis for a fully loaded 7 round mag the TI tube is only about 17% lighter.

I just finished another small batch of M4 FL tubes, same "Socomguy" quality and price. Shipped the same or next day. For info ... [email protected]

Carriercomp is, no doubt a high quality product, no bad mouthing here. I bit lighter, yes; I figure only about 3.6 oz. Thats based on my calculation of the weight of a TI tube vs my 4130 steel tube that weighs 8.5 oz. Anyone have a loose TI tube that give us an exact weight?

Yes, I still have a couple left.

C, Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Like I said, there seems to be renewed interest out there! I have two tubes at the coater, will be ready next Tuesday and just finished making five more yesterday. Those will be ready end of next week (3-15).... [email protected] Joe

bhunter, Ok now I think I understand. You want a screw on extension like the factory one except without the goofy necked down "space gun" look. Yes I can make one like that. Just realize that the "neck down" is there to make it obvious that the tube only holds 5 rounds. With your design , you may have to demonstrate that fact if ever asked. e-mail me we can discuss the particulars. Joe

bhunted... ref back to my 2-27-13 comment in this thread... "The problem I see with a one piece 6 rd tube with a permanent (non removable) plug is that you could not load the follower and spring from the muzzel end. I think , but have not tried, loading the spring and follower into the tube from the receiver end before screwing the tube into the receiver... tricky , but could be done." So are you willing to try something like that? e-mail me [email protected] Joe

OOPS' , sorry I must have missed your e-mail, thought that I was up to date on communications. Here is where I'm at with FL tubes. The few that I had are all sold. I have two "in the white " that are going to the coater tomorrow , should be back by middle of next week. With the current interest level , I'll make a few more, should be ready in a couple of weeks. Let me know ... [email protected] Thanks for the interest, Joe

I'm still here, lurking.... I have not been active on the site since about a year ago when I announced that I was no longer going to make the FL tubes. At that time I sold off the few that I had on hand at a bargin price (some guys got lucky). If you were to do a search on "mag tube socomguy" you will find complementary threads going back as far as 2006 when we were the first to inovate this style FL tube. High quality and fast delivery have always been my operating principle, never had a dissatisified customer since we started. We would never accept an order unless we had tubes ready to ship. A couple of weeks ago I got specific request for a couple of tubes, likley a result of the current "situation" so I broke out the tooling and made up a batch of 6 tubes, at this point I only have 2 left, one in the normal matte black "Diamond-Kote" and one that is "in the white" in case someone might want a tube in a different color. I believe that the issue would be "permanent and non- removable" to meet the requirements of the law. Just my guess Joe B

John the NJ guy, The peoples Republic of NJ has a 6 round limit on the mag capacity. I while back, on special request I made a two piece 6 round tubw for a guy. I've attached a pic of the special tube along side the factory 5 round tube. The problem I see with a one piece 6 rd tube with a perminant (non removable) plug is that you could not load the follower and spring from the muzzel end. I think , but have not tried, loading the spring and follower into the tube from the receiver end before screwing the tube into the receiver... tricky , but could be done. Joe

Regulars on the forum may recall that after five years of making and selling quality steel mag tubes I said that I was stopping production, that was true I sold the last few that I had in stock back in May. Well I guess that the current "situation" has sparked renewed interest. After receiving a couple of unsolicited requests I broke out the tooling and made a new batch of six full length M4 tubes. Same quality 4140 steel, matte black "diamond-kote" finish, $145, no waiting - ready for immediate shipping. For reference you can search this forum (SOCOMguy) for endorsements. Whats involved in changing from AGP to Satin/Matte ?
SOCOMguy replied to Michael Singer's topic in Benelli
try searching "gunkote" or diamondkote" , find a gunsmith that does this work. Here in SE Michigan I have used M and R Arms for years with good results ... http://mrarms.com/ Joe B
