  1. Just a reminder, there is another source, the originator of the FL tube. I have been making these for over 7 years , 100% satisified customers. $145 and no waiting. Search this forum for many testimonials. Contact and more info at [email protected] SOCOMguy
  2. From some previous post on the subject of tube weights, I remember that a FL (18.5") TI tube was 5.75 oz. As for the steel equlivalent, of which I am very familiar as I have been making and selling steel tubes for the last 6 years... a FL steel tube weighs 8.5 oz.. The difference being a mere 2.7 oz.; not much of a diff when one considers that when fully loaded a 7 round tube weighs over a pound. For more info or a "no waiting" tube ....I'm still at ..... [email protected]
  3. I have two on hand ready to ship. About to start another small batch. contact at [email protected] for more info Thanks,
  4. I just thought that I would bump this thread ... I do have a couple of finished tubes ready to ship as well as the one "in the white" ... [email protected]
  5. Both Titanium and aluminum are highly suseptable to galling, the combination of an aluminum follower in a Ti tube, I suspect will eventually result in scrubbing of the naturally forming protective oxide layer and galling will result. Just FYI , here is a pix of the inside of one of my chrome -moly steel tubes... nice shiny finish on the drawn (DOM) tube.... no galling here!
  6. No titanium from me... I've been making the FL tubes for over 7 years now. Tubes are 4130 chrome -moly aircraft grade steel. As for the weight issue , and this has been discussed back and forth many times on the forum...my tube weighs 8.5 oz, the Ti tube comes in at about 5.8 oz. I feel safe in saying that both are top quality, and have so been reported by many satisified customers.
  7. There are other options. You might want to search here for Socomguy FL tubes
  8. Apparently the Ti tube weighs 5.75 oz , my 4130 steel tube weighs 8.5 oz. As suggested, if you hunt back through the old postings there were several discussions about the relative weight issue.
  9. I don't have one in Desert Camo, however I do have one "in the white" that you can get coated by your favorite coater... or my coater guy has a pallet of colors including a couple of shades of "tan". Problem is that picking a color chips on the computer may not result in a finished product that meets your expectations. Joe
  10. Sorry no charging handles, but I still have a couple of FL tubes READY to ship.
  11. Hello all, I've been lurking for a while but thought that I would let you know that I have three M4 FL tubes ready to ship. Same high quality as always and same price $145, shipping included. Questions ... [email protected]
  12. For the SOCOMguy FL tubes we use "diamondkote" matte black. It's a perfect match for all the black parts of the M4. And yes, which ever coater you may use for refinishing be sure to specify the "matte" finish.
  13. Yes, very nice. No more "dime store space gun look". I'm glad you liked the "un"-limiter. Thanks for posting the pix. Joe
  14. Thanks for taking the time and effort. I had calculated about the. My tubes are 8.5 oz, so a bit heavier, but not much, about the weight of one 12ga round. I still have a few FL tubes ready for quick shipment, they are in matte black "Diamond Kote" and one still uncoated for someone looking for a custom color. [email protected]
  15. Before you install that beauty, any chance of getting an acurate weight. Would be good info to answer the question as to how much lighter the CC tube is as compared to my 4130 steel tube (8.5 oz). I had calculated that the TI tube should be about 5 oz.
  16. Aluminum... I would be concerned that an AL tube with wall thickness sufficient to resist denting would not be that much lighter than the thin wall chrome-moly tube. Any small dent is likley to hang up the follower, preventing feeding.... not a good thing!
  17. Thanks for asking , but I'll leave the TI stuff to CC, he aparently does very nice work with that material and has dedicated fans. I'm set up in my small shop to do the FL tubes in 4130 chrome-moly steel, an outstanding alloy for this application. The weight difference, is actually pretty small, I figure about 3.6 OZ, and when you figure it on a percentage basis for a fully loaded 7 round mag the TI tube is only about 17% lighter.
  18. I just finished another small batch of M4 FL tubes, same "Socomguy" quality and price. Shipped the same or next day. For info ... [email protected]
  19. I found your message, it came in as "junk mail" ... response sent
  20. funkho... no message in my in box? try again [email protected]
  21. Carriercomp is, no doubt a high quality product, no bad mouthing here. I bit lighter, yes; I figure only about 3.6 oz. Thats based on my calculation of the weight of a TI tube vs my 4130 steel tube that weighs 8.5 oz. Anyone have a loose TI tube that give us an exact weight?
  22. Yes, I still have a couple left.
  23. I just finished four more FL tubes, all coated and ready to ship.... [email protected]
  24. I have 5 more FL tubes out being coated, they will be ready to ship by Friday (3-22-13) . If you are interested... [email protected] Joe
