Just a thought on a possible POI change with a Ti mag tube. The coefficient of thermal expansion of Ti alloy is 5.3 vs 7.0 ( 10-6 in/deg F). since the barrel is steel, there may be something going on with stress and barrel deflection in the vertical plane as the assembly heats up..... Would have to be very slight effect, indeed. And while we are on the subject of 7 rd mag tube weights... here is some info. Ti tube 5.3 oz. . One of my thin wall 4130 alloy steel tube 7.0 oz. For comparison, the factory 5rd with the dummy extension assembly weights 9.3oz Joe

I'm partial to nice wood on a firearm, looks real good. Now get rid of the "space gun" extension and it'll be beautiful. Joe

The last ditch solution would have been to bore out the thread and install a threaded bushing, it appears that there is sufficient "meat" to accept a thin bushing. Joe B

Too late now, but for future reference, MAPP torch is quite a bit hotter than propane, have to use caution with MAPP on thin or delicate parts. Joe

Longer but compacts better?? ... got me thinking, count the number of coils on the two springs.... the same, 48 coils on both. Should compact the same you would think. Joe

I'm an old school guy, So, my first "go to" is to convert the metric to imperial to see if there is a common item here in the USA. Sure enough the 1.20 mm wire is = to 3/64 inch ( .047) ... just saying ! Joe

Ask them if you can tape on a length of broom stick to make it 24 or 30 or whatever makes them feel better !!!!!!!!!! Joe B

The initial defect would indicate a poor sweat solder joint between the sight base and barrel. There is a good chance that the sight is not securely attached to the barrel, a hard bump from the side might knock the sight base right off. Also , a good possibility that the brown rust straining will reappear through the new finish. All in all , not a good situation. Joe B

Sometimes you only want one more! Apparently in the Pepoles Republic of New Jersey you can only have six in the mag. I had a request to make one of my custom "NJ Specials" for a fellow there. The extension replaces the OEM extension, allows 6 in the tube. Joe

It sure looks like rust from acid soldering flux not having been properly removed and neutralized.... may even indicate an incomplete soldered joint. Joe B

To facilitate soldering acid flux is used. If the flux is not completely washed away and the residual neutralized rust will result.... like brown rust. Joe B

Someone mentioned the "green stuff" ... be careful with the green loctite, this is the very low viscosity wicking grade designed to be applied after fastener installation... I suspect that it can creep into places that you may not like.... maybe? Joe B

Good luck with the stripping, I think that you will be doing the media blasting. I make a few 7 rd steel mag tubes and have them cerakoted by a professional shop. I once had to strip a coated tube, tried all kinds of chemicals, with no luck. I even soaked the tube in a very strong lye solution for a week and the coating didn't even budge. Properly applied, CeraKote is might tough stuff. Joe B

Hi all, anyone looking for a silver colored 7 rd steel mag tube? I have one that was to be a custom for a customer, then no go! It's my usual high quality steel tube Cerakoted in a bright silver color. The photo shows it next to one of my H2O Ceralote tubes for comparison. It's pretty "bright" silver. Cerakote when properly applied is an amazingly durable finish. It's also very thin, so thin that the coating does not obliterate even the finest markings and engravings. There is no fit problem with the coating on the threads of mag tubes, for example. Joe

Always appreciate tutorials from StrangerDanger... well written, accurate and informative. Thank you... Reading through this thread again something occurred to me... why green thread locker? With the need to index (clock) the parts for proper alignment the usual thread lockers (red/ blue) could be a problem. The green stuff "Locktite #290" is a wicking type, designed to be applied AFTER assembly. Just a thought... Joe B

Definitely one of my tubes. I have a small shop operation, limited quantity, high quality. Helping a few guys on this forum with reasonable price tube is good .... enriching a shady third party, not good! Joe
