  1. but I went Dove hunting with my M4 last Sunday and can't believe the fun! This is the only shotgun I own. I'll be getting a more appropriate bird hunting gun at some point, but for now, I've only got the M4. And man, I've got to say, I've never had more fun shooting this gun. What a blast! I had to put a plug in it to make it legal (could only have 3 rounds in it)...but I'm hooked. Can't wait to take it out again. And not that I was trigger happy (ok - maybe I was...but that was part of the fun!), but comparing my ability to shoot quickly to that of my buddies that had pump guns...wow!
  2. This makes no sense to me, whatsoever. That rep must have pulled that response out of his backside. There is no way to install the M80 backwards. A total newbie that has never held a gun before could figure out if the thing were on backwards. I call BS on him! I doubt a single consumer ever fully installed the M80 backwards and actually thought to him/herself, "Well, I know it's on right...but what's with this gap?" No - that is not the reason for the gap. Having said all of that, I don't have the gap with my M80.
  3. - Excellent set-up. Two very dependable guns!!

    B&T Quadrail

Everyone is certainly entitled to his/her opinion - but I certainly do not feel like a "sucker" for having purchased an M80. I've purchased many SureFire products throughout the years, and their fit, finish, and overall quality has always been exemplar! SureFire has a well-deserved reputation for producing extremely high-quality products - and it was based on this deserved reputation (and my own experience with the awesome quality of many other products) that I "took a chance" on their M80. Is the M80 a new offering by SureFire? Yes. Is buying anything from SureFire anything close to rolling the dice? Hardly. I do agree that the M80 would look cooler without the SureFire logo on the side...but it doesn't bother me in the least. More importantly, the quality of the M80 is beyond reproach. It is a product that lives up to SureFire's reputation. Mine fits my gun perfectly. Like many products, some things only become apparent down the road...but I have not experienced any problems with mine. I have not needed to put any tape on it to compensate for a fitting issue. I do not mean to take anything away from the B&T - but one can buy the SureFire M80 with complete confidence in it being a top-of-the-line product. If you care about a full quadrail - purchase the B&T. I have no intention of loading my M4 down with stuff on all 4 rails. The three on the M80 more than suffice for my needs.

    M4 Capacity?

    5 + 1 2 3/4 shells
  6. Fascinating! Yeah - I'm pretty intrigued by the PH50. My bro-in-law lives in South Korea, and I've asked him to look into local South Korean prices on the pH50. I doubt it'll be any cheaper there, but with the dollar exchange, country of origin, etc...you never know! If it turns into a deal I can't turn down, I'll own a PH50, as well...but man, those things are pricey!!
  7. Took a buddy to the range today with my M4. He had never shot one before, but when I told him about it and invited him along, he was totally excited. The smile on his face was priceless, as he unloaded his first tube of 00. I suspect he's out shopping for one now! This gun is within a very selective category of things that I own that puts a smile on my face every time I use it! :)
  8. People's experiences with this M80 have certainly been polar. As for me - I haven't had any trouble with mine, as of yet. The fit is fine, the finish is excellent (typical SureFire quality), and I very much like the look and feel of this picatinny rail. Different people's mileage certainly varies - but the M80 is living up to everything I had expected of it, so far!
  9. You'll want to use a cylinder chose for rifled slugs.
  10. I guess I'll be the first to say SH** on your behalf! What a bummer. Sounds like this saddle should have shipped with longer screws in the first place and none of this would have happened!
  11. Yep - these are available. I ordered one from Surefire about a week ago and received it a couple of days ago. Very easy to install, the fit and finish is excellent, and it looks great on the gun. I have not gotten mine out to shoot with the M80 on it yet, but I hope to find the time soon.
  12. Yes - I'll certainly post that write-up. I've seen/heard of the issues that some have experienced. I've got my fingers crossed that I won't experience any issues myself. I was hopeful for the rail from Mesa Tactical, as well - but you are more patient than me. I gave up on that one a long time ago. For what it's worth, when I ordered mine from Surefire last week, I was told it was the last in-stock. Certainly, other Surefire dealers out there would have some, but any more from Surefire are now on backorder (I was told backorder items like this from them are typically 5 - 8 weeks out). Hopefully, Surefire has picked up on the issues some people have experienced, and they'll incorporate a small design change to ensure none of them cause problems with the pistons!
  13. So - not that everybody has been beating my door down for this tube, but it's now off the market. I suppose everybody that wants one pretty much has one - a year ago, this thing would have sold within 10 minutes of posting! In any case, it's just as well. It took several days, but I came back to my senses. I received the Surefire M80 and installed it last night. The gun looks so good with the M80 on it, I was re-inspired to proceed with configuring my M4 as it's supposed to be configured (with the full-length mag tube)!
  14. So - just shy of a year ago I ordered one of SOCOMguy's full-length mag tubes for my M4, and then never got around to installing it. In fact, I only once took it out of the shipping tube, right when I received it, and immediately put it back into the shipping container where it has sat up until now. I can attest to SOCOMguy's quality - the workmanship on this tube is outstanding. And this particular one is from a batch he did at some point after he changed his finishing process so that it more closely matches Benelli's finish than the first batch he did. I've decided this tube is not doing me any good sitting in its box, and I'm not going to install it any time soon, so I'm going to sell it. And I just picked up a Surefire M80 for my M4, which needs the storage space the mag tube is currently consuming (kidding - I hope to actually put this M80 rail on my gun). In any case - the mag tube is available if anybody wants it. Brand new, in its original shipping package. $150 shipped. (A $40.00 discount to what I paid for it). PM me and we can work out the logistics. Thanks, vagabundo94
  15. A banned weapon for civilian ownership, or a banned stock?

    Gun Safe

That's exactly the problem with many safes on the market. People think, "Wow! It's roomy, and heavy! What a great safe!" When in reality, sub-par safes only offer a false sense of security. This was probably one of those 550+-pound, 12-gauge safes one can pick up at Sam's Club. They look nice, but get past the superficial protection, and they can be broken into relatively easily.
  17. Tell the buyer to take a hike at this point. Forget him! Sounds like you've extended a perfectly reasonable offer to make things 'right' with this guy, and he hasn't taken you up on it. Assuming for a minute that this buyer's argument is legitimate, and that you mislead him, there still wouldnt' be anything he could do about it other than to slam you in the feedback section of that website. And so, if this buyer's argument is bogus in the first place, there certainly isn't anything he can do about it. "Buyer Beware" is the only law governing this particular transaction. He'll probably slam you in the feedback section one way or another, but other than that, don't waste any energy worrying over this transaction.

    Gun Safe

First thing I'd do is really research the features you care about prior to actually shopping for a safe. With no clue as to the kinds of features you are looking for, the first big, roomy safe you find is going to look excellent. With an actual list of criteria to measure against, you might be surprised how many fail to measure up to what you are looking for. For example, I would recommend a minimum of 10-gauge steel. 8-gauge would be better. 12-gauge, which is used quite frequently, can be broken into relatively easily with the right axe (just smash through the side of the 12-gauge safe). How heavy of a safe do you want? I'd recommend not getting anything that is less than 750 pounds. 500-pound safes are quite common (you find them at Sam's Club, etc.). A 500-pound safe can be carried/moved out of the house relatively easily by a couple of big guys. What kind of fire-rating are you looking for? Personally, I'd shoot for 1,350 degrees or more x 60 minutes or more. 30 minute fire-ratings are quite common. What kind of anti-theft relocker do you want? There are several different kinds. How much money do you want to spend? They can get expensive, real quick. I'd also recommend that you avoid electronic lock mechanisms. With an electronic lock, it's just a matter of time before it breaks down. Simply going to happen. Go with the older, boring, dial-locks. Finally, get a safe that is bigger than anything you think you actually need. Just ask any safe owner: You'll grow into it, and eventually, you'll outgrow it. Once you get a large safe, you'll find all kinds of things besides guns that you'll want to store in it. And the space goes more quickly than you'll believe. Based on my criteria, the safe I found that met my needs is from Rhino Safes: http://www.rhinosafe.com/bh600.htm When I bought mine, they had some 'blemished' safes on-hand that were going for $699.00 (instead of the listed $999.00). Shipping was an extra $100.00. The blemish turned out to be a small scratch in the paint that is about the size of a quarter. You couldn't even see it unless I pointed it out to you. In other words, should you go with them, call before buying anything. As for the safe itself, I've been perfectly happy with it. Good luck in your search!
  19. Well, this was a great read for me. I only knew that there have been multiple versions, but was unaware of the specifics of those versions. Great post!
  20. Bizarre! MrMilitaryPolice - I'm just curious, if you happen to know, what specific rules make it so that Benelli can not offer this gun to civilians? Did the CS you spoke to give you any specifics? I understand the threads about the gun being illegal should one take an M4 and add a full-length magazine tube to it (because of it also having a pistol grip stock), or replace the factory stock with a collapsible one. (I've read that here on this forum, but have no understanding of this particular law other than what I've read here). But neither of those issues would seem to prevent Benelli from selling the version of the M4 that they have been selling to civilians. And if Benelli is forced to pull the M4 out of this market, I'm curious what that means to current civilian owners of the M4. Do we all own illegal guns? I've seen it before where the ATF gave a stamp of approval on a gun for the civilan market, and later rescinded, claiming that the gun was actually illegal. And then it was illegal for the people that had already purchased it to own it.
  21. hey - Cornholio - there are quite a few people on this forum that sold those Numrich parts on e-bay. it's a free market. As for lurking...I learned a lot, and didn't feel like participating prior to purchasing a Benelli. As for you hijacking that other thread - that is exactly what you did. You posted "to each his own" in that thread, and I agree. To each his own. And I'll stick with the opinion that that was a jerk of a thing to do. As for this post here...you just confirmed that you are the absolute corn-hole I took you for. And with that, I'll simply ignore any post from "HOGWILD" I see from here on out. So don't bother replying...our little dialogue is over, as I won't be reading anything else you have to say.
  22. Just curious so that I understand the culture of this forum, being a new member and all: Is hijacking somebody's WTS post with the kind of information that may jeopardize the original poster's ability to sell, common/accepted behavior here? I frequent some forums where that kind of behavior is acceptable, and other forums where that kind of behavior is bad-form and discouraged. I prefer the forums where it's considered bad-form. My take on it is, if you aren't interested in buying the item being offered for sale, ignore the thread. And certainly don't post something completely unrelated other than to aim potential buyers elsewhere. Just wondering what the culture here is like.
  23. All good responses. Thank you! The advantages of a collapsible stock sound to be pretty much what I had assumed they'd be. And the advantages certainly sound compelling, for the needs they address. Doesn't sound like a feature overly important to me and my needs for this gun...so it won't be real high on my list of modifications. Thanks again! Very helpful.
  24. Is that true? Modified? I was under the impression that a Cylinder Choke is preferred with slugs.
