  1. I saw two gobblers close by this afternoon as I was coming in from work in the middle of a pasture field all strutted out!BUT,turkey season ended here last weekend!
  2. I know that you shouldnt have to do anything to repair it,but if you really like the gun,why don't you replace the factory pad with a limbsaver pad? They have a model that might possibly fit.It is the #10402 pad.It has a plastic bracket designed to fit inside the stock then you screw the pad to the bracket. It is made for the SBE synthetic stock,so I am not real sure it will be an exact fit.But it is a possible fix to your problem and may be better in the long run if you really like your gun!Hope this helps ya!
  3. Turkey loads aren't just for turkeys anymore! The secondary name would be fox load!
  4. Congrats to ya ,that is a great bird and a great pic also. You have christened your Supernova into the world of turkey hunting, lol.Since that is a magazine quality pic, maybe we will be reading your story in T&TH?lol:rolleyes:
  5. I fanagled one in place,I posted a pic on here somewhere where I fitted a limbsaver to my Steadygrip Supernova.I can put it on this thread also.I used a plastic adapter from another limbsaver that fits the SBEII synthetic stock.I had to fit it to my Steadygrip, then I fitted a limbsaver for another gun to my stock. There is a lil more to it but here are the results!
  6. Great bird Chris, congrats to ya!
  7. If you know who the hunters were on the hunts, why dont you try calling them and asking them if they still have the factory box for their gun,and check the serial number from the box!
  8. If you go to the Stoeger forum, someone there might be able to help you out!
  9. I would think if you have the bed against a wall, the mount would be between the bed and the wall. FWIW,when I was a kid I was taught not to go snooping in my parents bedroom,as I was taught that guns werent toys to play with, and if it wasnt mine I wasnt to be touching anything that didnt belong to me.
  10. Only use oil on the bare metal parts,do not use it anywhere it is film dipped, some oils will soften the camo.Use only soap and water, very lil soap at that.water will do most cleaning you need to do to the outside!
  11. Have you tried the Hushstalkerll swivels by Quake Industries? They are some sort of polymer so they shouldnt bother the metal cap and are quiet. If that doesnt work, there is a new adaptor made called a Swiftach Buckle Adaptor. It acts as a swivel stud,it goes on between your magazine cap and the barrel post, you just unscrew the mag cap,put the adaptor on and screw the cap back on.It should work on any shotgun with a screw off mag cap.I found them at midwestturkeycall.com.Hope that helps ya!
  12. I wear the Obsession, but it is almost getting hard to find here, most stores sell it as fast as they can get it.It is a very close match to the Realtree APG,but the Obsession has more green in it.I posted a pic in another thread of my shirt in Obsession with my Supernova camo'ed with Realtree APG laying on it.You can see a lot of resemblance!
  13. Well the Hevi load certainly is better but you gotta be really careful when shooting at a turkey close up with a tight pattern like that.In a sense the XR would almost be better closer up because of the wider pattern. You give up something to get something.Either load patterns plenty good enough to kill a turkey.
  14. I just thought I would post some of the patterns I have shot, some arent centered exactly, which can be a result of changing choke tubes and or loads, but it can give you an idea of what kind of pattern each load shoots out of my gun.
  15. Congrats to ya Nate,I hope you get the chance to harvest another longbeard with your SBE2. I sure am not having much luck myself, the birds here have been very tight-lipped lately.I have had the oppurtunity to take a few jakes but not a chance at a longbeard yet!
  16. Here is a pic of my Supernova,am loving this gun more each time I use it.Has a Leupold turkey scope on it.
  17. Here is what the pad on my Steadygrip Supernova looks like after i installed it.
  18. I put a limbsaver pad on my Steadygrip, like you I couldnt bear the thoughts of using the factory pad, harder than a limestone rock, lol.Anyhow I actually used an adapter from a pad for a SBE,the lil plastic adapter made to go inside the stock to hold the pad.I had to fit this adapter to the inside of the stock on my gun. Then I used a prefit pad,a very close match to the stock. It was just a lil long on the lower butt, maybe 3/16" ,and i rounded it off to fit the contour of my stock. To be sure it was a pain to do this but then I always did like a challenge! If you need more details you can send me a message, and I will try to help you all I can!
  19. I havent been able to get a really good pattern from anything loaded with 5's thru my Supernova either.Hevi makes a 3" 2oz loaded with #6's now,I would love to try them.I have been shooting the Hevi 3.5" #6 2.25oz load thru mine, throws a pattern that would be tough to beat.I have even shot the 3.5" 2.25oz #5 thru mine, and it would kill a turkey but it doesnt have near the pattern that the 6's make! I have also been shooting the WW XR thru mine, the 3.5" #6,havent shot the 3" #6 yet, though I will sometime, just to try it.Trial and error, and experimentation, lol.Gotta love it! The chokes i have used are Jellyhead,Carlson's and Briley! What kinda pattern you get with the Indian Creek?
  20. I have a Supernova, should be the same basically as the Nova.I have been using the Jellyhead .655" and a Carlson's .650" non-ported choke tube, shooting the Winchester Extended Range #6's and the Hevi-13 2.25oz #6's.All are 3 1/2 inch. Cant get much better IMO for the money.
  21. Can you give us a lil better explanation of your experience with the EZ pull?
  22. I use the Claw also, but I just used a sling swivel on the end that fastens to the magazine cap.I thought about putting a sling stud in the buttstock also but didnt want to since it already has the sling loop on the side of the stock. If you want to use the factory sling mount in the stock, just take the swivel off of the end. I used the rifle model, works great and is plenty long! Be sure and let all of us know how you like your Steadygrip.I wasnt real sure about mine but it is really growing on me!
  23. Neither one of my turkey guns, and I am pretty sure most everyone here will tell you that their guns don't pattern well with 5's.I don't know why, they just don't.Most everyone here shoots 6's,but also most are shooting some type of hevi-shot,which has more downrange energy than the 5's within turkey range, maybe even more than the lead 4's.Someone else may have the energy figures. Myself I would try patterning 6's thru the Jellyhead, lead shot or whatever you are thinking of trying.Thru the tight chokes the small shot sizes pattern better, and they do have enough energy to kill that turkey if you hit him good.Plus you hit him with alot more pellets.
