Hey Tucker, you want a debate or not? You treated a new member like an ass then got away with your bs because of a mod. You want a debate I would be happy to accomadate. You are a tool buddy. Were you the one posting the nude pics of himself also? Please accept. Not looking at your gay porn or computer virus link. If you would care to shoot or spar, that would be great also. Plenty of room, trap range in the back yard, gloves & head gear if you want it. Clowns like you need some reality.

PS I also have plenty of links to load data for the 20ga. Pm me if you are interested.

Big Al, congrats on the new gun. A 20 ga Cordoba is a great choice for doves. I shoot a 20 Legacy with 7/8oz loads for doves and it is sweet. I grew up on a .410 with a full choke for doves and much prefer the 20ga guns for most everything. Welcome to the forums & happy hunting with the new gun. Apologies for Tuckers rude post. He is not reflective of most members.

Way OT: Pretender in Chief no longer a 'theory'

Hey asswipe. I saw your prickish post to the member who bought a new 20 ga. for doves and almost commented on it. You are such a smug prick it is almost beyond belief. You want to debate Obama with facts and his administration with facts....bring it on. Your race baiting, moronic comments will not go unchallenged by me, and I imagine a few others here. As an independent voter your comments are extremely offensive and your smug bs makes me want to puke. Educate yourself Tucker. I would be more than happy to set you up with many links if you are objective. Given your post, I would guess you are a union member or life long Dem. Or an ACORN member who likes guns. -
I had read this earlier and really enjoyed the part about the horriffic screams heard by the neighbors. Good riddance. Give the kid a tax credit for saving us a bunch of money and more victims of the ex scumbag.

What's Your Pistol Preference? Benelli Doesn't Make One!
TokenWhiteMale replied to OhioM4's topic in Benelli
I really like those little Springfields. How does that feel with the Hogue grip compared to the commander framed guns when shooting? I always feel like I need something more to hang onto with those short .45's. That laser sighted Kimber looks interesting too. Very impressive collection;)that. -

For ergonomics and just plain "damn that feels good" & shootability in a trim package, I love the Browning Hi-Power. I picked one up when I was about 9 years old and it kind of set the standard. Properly tuned they can't be beat if you want a good double stack 9mm and prefer the simplicity & superior trigger on a single action auto. I have a Tangfoglio Elite Match in .38 Super that I also love for the crazy firpower (20rds fully loaded), great trigger and sheer smoothness when cycling fast. I have a Smith mod 41 .22 auto and both guns regularly hit golf balls for plinking out to 25 yards no problem. I have never shot anything like that .38 Super for sheer firepower & accuracy. That includes quite a few .45's of various manufacture. Not quite a comfy in the hand as the Browning, but near perfect out of the box for trigger & accuracy. Crazy value too. You can also swap out differnt barrels to go from 9mm up to .45 colt + a .22 conversion is available. The Tangfoglio's are a favorite in competion & like the venerable 1911 (also a Browning design) have a ton of aftermarket support. If I sound like a fan of these two, it's because I am. For defense, camping etc. (bears, mountain lions etc up here) they are great. Maybe overkill for someone can not take advantage of what the guns are capable of. A nice .357 is a good fall back if there may be others using the gun & my wife prefers that loaded with .38 ammo. For target / plinking I have owned a lot of .22's & shot everything from an old classic High Standard (grandpa's gun) to the Walther P22. I have not shot anything like a Smith 41 and they feel addictive in the hand. Heavy, enveloping grips, competition trigger, simple, reliable, super fast cycling & more accuracy than a human can use. Nothing I have ever held feels better. Trail / fishing gun? S&W Kit Gun. I like having a .22 revolver for snakes or relieving boredom. The shotshells work great & you can mix loads up with hollow points or whatever you like. Great utility guns. Hope this helps. Pistols are very personal and not all people shoot the same guns well. From a lot of sampling, maybe 50+, these are my all time favorites. I personally don't care for the Glock style triggers on many guns now so take that into consideration when reading. I have shot a lot of Sig's, including the 226, & they have all been quality guns. Very reliable (my brother's current duty gun is a Sig .45) but just did not make me get all gooey inside when I shot them. They make a really sweet .380 that I have thought about trading in the Walther for though.... -
She's a bigamist then. I sent that pic to Francis some time ago.

I bet he's waxing it right now & can't respond:D.

Frankie, give me a call if you got the thing. Just finishing the painting off today so if I don't hear the phone I'll give you a call back later. If you send that out to me I'll take some decent pics of it for you:p Maybe check the point of impact too...

Take a look at the scaled down Franchi 20ga & the (unfortunately regular lop) 28ga guns. A lightweight gas operated 28 ga would be tough to beat for a young girl. An argument can be made for the 20ga over growing into it, but if was my little girl I'd seriously consider the 28 & look into a spare buttstock as she grows with the gun (along with the newer recoil absorbent pads). Quite a few makers use a scaled down reciever on the 28ga also.

Choose your HD weapon...BUT, out of only 3 choices...
TokenWhiteMale replied to shotgunNoob's topic in Benelli
Sticking to your options Noob, I like the .45 auto personally for inside the house. Mobility and the free hand are more important to me for a nightstand type weapon than the firepower of the shotgun. I keep a .357 handy also because my wife is not comfortable enough for me with my single action auto's. I like the simplicity of the revolver and keep the first couple cylinders loaded with shotshells for small pest control in the front yard and use it regularly for that. I have a 12ga for any looking around the property loaded with 000 buck. Outside your choices...I keep a Tangfoglio .38 Super that holds 20 with one in the pipe, cocked & locked. The Browning High Power is another favorite. I like the ergonomics better on most pistols (these two in particular) than revolvers and it is something I'd take into account in a HD gun. In the home, I feel most comfortable with a tactical light in one hand & semi auto pistol in the other. Preferably a single action with a good trigger;). Looks like you got a lot of good opinions. -
sjlund, I shoot one of the recoil operated 20's shown above and it checks in at about 6.5lbs loaded and it not at all unpleasant to shoot. I considered at the ultra light also & had originally settled on the Monte (until a NIB 20gs millenium edtion was brought to my attention). I would at least handle the Legacy & Montefeltro as they are so close in weight to the UL, but a bit more generous with the wood (& magazine capacity as mentioned). I am still surprised how light these guns are with 5 rounds in them... I also picked up one of the Browning Reactar pads for the vest and there recoil is totally negligible when I am wearing a vest (1oz loads). Hard to go wrong with a nice light recoild operated 20ga for what you want & the Benelli's are exceptional. Good luck choosing one.

Frankie, is the old combat pump yours? Pretty cool & didn't remember you mentioning this one.

Try a Lumapower D-mini. For the size, nothing even comes close and run time is also excellent. Easily lights up objects100yrds away, will take Li ion rechargeables (including 18650's with the optional body) or regular CR123 batteries. My humble opinion, it is the best out there for size/price/performance. They also are making a new MCE model that I have not checked out yet (but the head is much larger). Malkoff makes some nice drop in's though.

Tim, thanks for the post. I am setting up my own backyard range & the info was useful.

You guys quit picking on Francis. The twenty I picked up recently was the mate to a set like his (lower serial # though;)) and had never even been assembled by it's original owner, let alone shot. I have run about a case & half through it this month & it's sweet. The reciever on those guns was brought back only for the Millenium Edition gun (250 total production 12 & 20ga each). The gun looks & feels great mounting & swinging. Very light & precise feeling would be how I'd describe it subjectively. Little sharper push than a gas gun, but you don't even notice it with a shooting vest on. I think cost of the reciever on these guns kept them from being more common. Very lucky to get it (M1014 brought it to my attention on this forum from Gunbroker). Book on them is 2,000, but good luck finding them. More for the matched set.

Funny, my Dad likes the Glocks too. He has a 17 & 19. I put the Browning in his hand and he was immediately sold on the feel of the gun. If you don't live in CA take a look at the EAA Witness (Tanfoglio). In 9mm or 38 Super Auto it holds about 20 rounds in the full size gun and you can swap calibers with barrel changes. Very reasonably priced, accurate (the competition guns like the Elite Match & Limited are tack drivers), good ergonomics and great reliability. For the money they can not be beat. A .22 kit can be had also that consists of the top end & barrel that mates to the centerfire lower. The reviews have all been good that I've seen on the conversions. The BHP also has a .22 conversion kit made by Ceiner that is well regarded. Cheap practice & much more utility. What are you looking at/interested in for the pistola?

If you do not already own a pistol, I would reccomend getting one before The Obamamessiah begins pushing for more gun regulation. Given his current frantic rate to push unpopular projects through while he has solid majorities in both houses of congress, I expect more gun legislation (or exuctive orders) this year. I own a few and love shooting handguns. What calibers are you looking at and do you have an action preference (single or double, pistol or revolver) yet? Can not say enough about having at least one .22 pistol either, be it a wheel gun like the S&w "kit gun" or a model 41 that will easily shoot less than 1" goups @ 25yrds all day long. If you camp, hike or have a lot of snakes, the ability to shoot shotshells out of a revolver is nice also. My personal preference is single action auto and if I had to limit myself to just one gun....the Browning High Power (9mm) would be it. Tons of aftermarket parts, accessories & gunsmiths to work on them. They feel like shaking hands with an old friend and have the best ergonomics of anything I have shot in a center fire pistol. For home defense I keep a 9mm (BHP) & a 38 Super (Tanfoglio Match) on the nightstands. I like the higher capacity of these guns over the .45 (also a great choice). The .40 S&W is nice also and has a big following for defense & police use. There is also a huge difference in triggers between the different types of handguns, so try to get a feel for what you like before you buy. Personally the so called "safe action" triggers on the newer "plastic" guns does not do anything for me, but some love them and shoot them well. Yeah, definitely get a pistol Unob. You'll love it.
-
Good! Go for the auto, you'll love it. Have not tried one of the Benelli gas autos yet, but love the recoil operated one I have. I enjoyed shooting (sorry to mention) the Rem 1100's I have handled and there is a difference in recoil between the gas & recoil operated guns. Shopping around is half the fun. Some good deals on used guns in outstanding shape can be had too on Gunbroker & other sites.

Anyone shooting 3/4oz loads in their 20ga?
TokenWhiteMale replied to TokenWhiteMale's topic in Shotgun Sports
THANKS FOR THE SAFETY TIPS GUYS. I WAS GOING TO TRY 30 GRAINS OF UNIQUE WITH AN OUNCE OF GRAVEL FROM MY DRIVEWAY BEFORE I HAD READ THE SUGGESTIONS . Can we go back to the reasonable man standard here guys? Not everyone on the internet lacks common sense. I had a pretty specific question soliciting input from people who had actually tried 3/4 oz loads in their 20 ga reloads. No offense intended, but some of you need to lighten up a bit & tailor your posts to the person you are responding to. Safety is always my first consideration with all firearms and has been since about age 6. Peas be upon you my brothers in arms. Shoot safe & often -
Nothing wrong with a twenty for serious hunting duty when properly loaded. I'm lucky enough to have an identical gun to M1014's (thanks bro) and love it. Started out shooting a single shot .410, then went to an 870 12ga pump, then to o/u 20ga's. I like the auto's & o/u guns best, but that little 20ga Nova may be something you wish you had kept 20 years from now. You also need to think about any regrets you may have 20 years down the road from getting rid of this gift (speaking from experience). Anyone giving you crap about 20ga's being for sissies is just full of crap and I'd take it with a grain of salt. The only thing I'd want a dedicated 12 for is defense (or combat) given the wide variety of accesories available and special purpose loadings (breacher etc). Don't ever feel pressured into making decisions like this for the wrong reasons.
