    M4 Handguard

Hmm, not good news. I have one coming in about three weeks. May have to reassess. Any others using Surefire or rejected it?

    M4 Handguard

    Just buy the Surefire.
  3. I ordered it directly. Awaiting delivery but it looks the same.
  4. In the defense it would be pretty awesome, but I wouldn't want to carry a M4 with a fully loaded one.
  5. Dave's Metal Works is the only one I know of.
  6. I think that's why the receipt for the parts is important. Not even sure Kip's tube is stamped US. I have one on my M4 and thought he said it is but not at home to check. Remember who you are dealing with. You don't want to successfully defend the charge, you want no charge to be filed. You have a receipt that reflects a key piece is US that's best. We don't know if US gas pistons will ever be made, let alone "stamped" US but the proof of US gas pistons might be enough. I'd hope that due diligence to make the effort to comply with existing laws would convey to those involved that not only am I a law abiding citizen, but one that also went to great lengths to insure that is was. So let me ask another ?. If I was to buy a collapsible stock in the aftermarket would I need to swap out another part, or would the fact that some were imported with the stock that I would be okay? I'm thinking i"d need another part if my serial number reveals to came with a conventional stock.
  7. Thanks. The best info on the subject to date. It's pretty easy to get a follower and new forearm and I just ordered them both. Figure keep the receipts for all the new US pieces stapled to the ATF response and one should be able to quickly prove compliance.
  8. They even suggest cleaning in the washing machine. http://www.hoppes.com/products/ca_boresnakes.html
  9. I use them for all my firearms. Great quick bore cleaner.
  10. Didn't know there was a "factory"case. Mine came in a cardboard box. You can also get the PDF of the manual on the Benelli site. Yes, not the original, but those will be hard to find get from those that want to keep theirs with the gun.
  11. I hate to answer operational questions when there are many members with much more experience, but you seem to be getting many views but not replies. I'll just share my experience inside my house and with Snap Caps: While the sound stemming from the CDL is similar to a trigger pull, with Snap Caps, you can tell a significant difference. I have tried it with the safety on and off and firing pin doesn't seem to be dropping like it does with a trigger pull. I think you'd agree that the ability of fire a weapon by a means aside from a trigger pull would be a serious design flaw. Additionally, considering the "blinding flash of the obvious" cautions they display in bold, red print in the manual, if this were a possibility it would certainly be noted.
  12. Do a search on this topic. I confess to being unsure, but thinking you may be wrong in your theory above. Once you start to monkey with it you embark on a "configuration" that has many more than ten foreign parts already. So to use your example, once you add a US made mag tube, that requires that you replace MORE parts, not that you can now add a foreign-made collapsible stock. As you might see in a search, a list of key parts varies among the ATF responses. In the first post of this thread it's 15 items, so in that case, you change one thing you need to change at least four more. Additionally, as some have asserted, only an answer from the ATF in direct response to your query may protect you should this be an issue. Hope I have this right. I think this law is the only reason there's ever a discussion of finding a source of US gas pistons, etc.
  13. Excellent advice. I think a lot of confusion stems from a couple of unique characteristics of this shotgun, especially with those of us pretty much 870 only experience. I read and re-read the owners manual, but had a few lingering questions about if a trigger pull would yield the same results as using the CDL in certain circumstances. Obviously, Snap Caps are useful here. It's also a much better idea to practice reloading (at least initially and indoors) with Snap Caps. Mine are distinctive enough so as to not be confused w/ammo. Only weakness during reloading drill is that they are so light they don't react like a shell does in your hand. If possible get rounds with some heft to them.
  14. This is a common topic with all weapons and magazines. Springs lose effectiveness over time from LOTS of compression CYCLES. The modern spring materials you should be able to leave it fully loaded for years w/o loss of effectiveness. The same hold true for AR15 and pistol mags though in some cases mag. feed lips can change shape and cause problems. This is what led to the MagPul cover that eases the load on the top of the mag. Personally, I've only recently experienced my first problem with a GI M-16 30 rd mag loaded for over a year and I have keep many loaded for long periods. Some conclude it's the best way to store ammo. You'll have no problems with your shotgun, but for $10 bucks every two years you could pop in a new spring if it concerns you at all. Not a big expense.
  15. Where are the mods around here?
  16. Hmm, it loaded for me yet again just now as listed. Try this alternate pointer: http://tinyurl.com/kjluos
  17. For sure, and with the shot shells around his neck, something made by Benelli too.
  18. Check out this link for ops in Afghanistan : http://blogs.denverpost.com/captured/2009/07/02/marines-pour-into-afghanistan/ See pic 29. Like being at a sh*tty CAX at the Stumps except it's for 7 months and people are trying to kill you. God bless them.
  19. My tube, supposedly shipped "priority" on Wed didn't arrive this week.
  20. No offense taken. I know about the reassembly ease of course. It's just a reminder that it's ordered, paid for, promised, and NOT HERE. I just went back through the thread to be sure I was correct and April orders "were shipping by the end of the week" a few times, if you know what I mean. My PM to Kip on this issue from yesterday indicates it's been read but no response as yet. Okay, off to focus on other things.
  21. I'm surprised to hear this. I thought that only the April orders in the last week or so were still outstanding. Don't take the overnight shipping request too literally, some type of expedited shipping was just the first thing that came to mind. I'm sure you've received similar accommodations for lapses in customer service. Additionally, I'm sure that seeing my shotgun (in pieces for the last three weeks) awaiting the arrival of the tube any day now has not helped my attitude about this.
  22. When I start getting paid to run his business rather than buy his products I'll comment on hiring people that can adhere to a schedule. This is digressing badly off the topic. The only issue is when are these tubes shipping and how are they going to be sent to those waiting nearly 10 weeks after a promise of 4-6 weeks? Is there any effort to make it right for the customer or is it simply tough sh*t for us? In my view, these don't seem to be unreasonable questions for a customer to have.
  23. My point was in response to the assertion that delays like this are the unspoken rule these days for machine shops; that it's somehow acceptable and to be expected. That's total BS. There's more idle capital equipment and unemployed skilled labor than anytime in the last 25 years.
