  1. I'd take it apart, clean off any preservative, learn a bit about how it goes together and lube as noted above.
  2. Don't know much about this but my office mate is an avid sporting clays shooter so I asked what he uses and he say he used a Modified choke for sporting clays. Most of the station shots have targets moving away from you.
  3. Still unsure about the magnitude of this issue, but a very interesting discussion.

Have you ever considered NOT sharing your CONSTANT negativity?
  5. Thanks, I was just curious as to how it was working out for you.
  6. Oh please. You wrote: Originally Posted by saym14 tocomply with 922 you can not increase the mag capcity unless you add three USA made parts. or the 922 police will get you. I would get. 1) GGG bolt relaease pad 2) carrier comp Ti tube
  7. Have you purchased the Geissele hammer yet? You can get it directly from them if you wish. Right now the demand for ADDITIONAL compliant parts is pretty low. You get a US Tube, Follower, Hammer and Forearm/Handguard you're all set, even with the collapsible stock. I wouldn't mess with the disconnector. If I do, it will be because Geissele makes an entire trigger assembly. But a precision trigger isn't essential in a shotgun so I doubt the demand will be sufficient for them to even make it. I'd be careful when buying fire control parts from people that don't do it as a core competency. Aside from Benelli, the only one making the hammer is Geissele.
  8. Please be sure you know what you're taking about before posting 922r info. It's too dangerous to lead people astray in this area. The bolt release IS NOT A LISTED PART towards compliance!!
  9. Only thing that's a bit strange from my viewpoint on this rig is the LaRue Tall (AR) mount on the Benelli. I'd think it would be waaay too high for a good cheek weld. Please share your experiences actually using it. http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-tactical-aimpoint-micro-mount-lt660-lt660hk-or-661
  10. Great story about the 870 airing on Gun Stories. A comment was made that over 80% of all shotguns ever made are 12ga. Why? The perfect combo of recoil and performance. Forgive me if you're no longer thinking about this and have made up your mind. Perfectly understandable that the recoil of the 870 may be too much for your wife, but why don't you let her try a SuperSport in 12ga? The felt recoil will probably be 60% that of the 870 or O/U gun with the ComforTech stock and she'll still break targets at the 12 ga level.
  11. You just sold me on that Sidearmor forward shell holder. Thanks for posting!! I use a T-1 on mine and think highly of it. I also have a dual illumination RMR that is also a great optic for this shotgun too.
  12. Not sure I agree. See "slicing the knuckle as you pull the bolt back" above. For some reason my post on this thread got dropped. Really said nothing inflammatory. Just said, I thought this mod the most important mod around for this gun. In my view, more than any mag tube, bolt handle, or rail accessory. I put a link in the post that showed the Briley large bolt release on the Performance Shop SuperSport model. Could that lead to a post being pulled? Not sure. I finished by saying I hoped Benelli incorporated this mod in future production.
  13. Hmm, Lost my post when I went to attach a picture of the Benelli Performance Shop mod on the SuperSport that replaces the bolt release button with a Briley pad. http://www.benelliusa.com/performance_shop/benelli_performance_shop_supersport.php I don't think slicing your knuckle is easy to do on the GG&G. Certainly no more risky than the button. I personally consider the "button" a design flaw and Benelli should incorporate a pad design like this mod into factory production as soon as possible. I find it to be the most useful mod. More so than the bolt handle or even mag, tube mods.
  14. In my view, this is mod is MORE important that the larger charging handle and the mag. tube extension/replacement tube. I consider the standard button to be a design FLAW. Even the Benelli Performance shop replaces this button with a Briley release pad in the SuperSport model they tune up. Personally, I don't see how slicing up your knuckle would be a major concern. Certainly no greater risk than skinning a knuckle on the button release. What I find to be better with this mod is the ease of dropping the bolt. Less fishing around for it and less chance of being smacked with the bolt handle going forward as you have more "real estate" to manipulate it without interference. If Benelli was smart, this pad would be a mod in 2012 production guns.
  15. Just wondered if anyone here owns one of these and what they think about it. The Briley bolt and bolt release mods seem nice, but the trigger improvements are what MAY make it worth the extra money. Only bad thing I've read about the standard version is that the triggers have lots of variability in weight and slack. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  16. He didn't say they were going for $150. He said, they go for $150 LESS around here. As to the pricing trends / forecast, I don't know, but the sale is active now. I paid about $150 less myself from a member here. That said, it's a free market and I welcome his effort to sell it at whatever price HE feels is fair.

  18. People can price what they wish to sell at what they think they can get for it. No ones cares what YOU think about the price either. Don't like it? Don't buy it. There are plenty of sites where opinions/snide remarks about the value of an item for sale is expressly prohibited and grounds for suspension. It should be the same here.

    Geissele Hammer

Thank you for sharing what you learned. Very good info. I'd like a trigger unit too, but not holding my breath that Bill will make one. Shotguns don't need the crisp light break of a rifle quite as much. Additionally, I think 99% of these were/are purchased to relieve gun owner's worries about the 922R stuff ONLY. Law abiding folks are the only ones that sweat these issues.

    Geissele Hammer

Have to admit you took a closer look at yours than I did. No harm in calling them, but I HIGHLY doubt you got anything less than exactly what they wanted to ship and it's probably a higher quality part than the Benelli hammer if their expertise on other hammers and FCGs is any indication. They make top shelf stuff. I suspect you will find that all the engagement surfaces are finely honed and tempered after casting/forging the hammer. As you should keep them lubed with grease anyway, corrosion isn't an issue.

You're just another generation of member doing some discovery learning having failed to drink the Kip Kool-Aid. Be careful, the fanboys can be touchy. Your $.02 would be precisely on target, but no point in getting yourself flamed over and over. This is really OLD NEWS (tens of threads making the same observation for years). All I can suggest is that you avoid the hassles and shop elsewhere. Freedom Fighter and others are very good. You can also buy a replacement hammer directly from Bill Geissele if you have 922r issues/concerns.
  22. Glad it's back and ready to rock and roll for you.

    A American M-4

Doesn't excite me now that I no longer have 922r issues, but who can complain about another nice tactical shotgun hitting the market. Good luck to Remington.
  24. I suspect you installed the HAMMER. The question relates to the entire trigger assembly and that's not out yet. When I last spoke with Bill he offered no estimate or time line.
  25. It's actually a Geissele hammer and available through them.
