Benelli M4 -- Weapon light mounting Options Suck!
StrangerDanger replied to StrangerDanger's topic in Benelli
Meh. Looks like another copycat offset mount. I should throw these here into this thread. These pictures came out pretty close to how the color looks in person. The graphite black Cerakote masked the work area pretty well. The epoxy I used had small air bubbles within it, which left those small holes visible. I don't really care that much about it. The mount functions 100%. It does everything you want without having to put your thumb on some sharp rails or some Quasimodo mounting solution. If this Scout light mounted any closer to the rail, the tail cap would be touching. -
Wow. Interesting. You have a rare model there. I believe the two position receiver extensions came on the military M4's during the original solicitation for the US Marine Corps. Do you have the original box still? If so, is there any markings on it to indicate a model designation?

Check inside the barrel of your older M4 and look to see how many ports are in it. If it has 4 ports, I would contact Benelli and see about having it replaced with the newer 2 port design. If it has 4 ports, the older model is the 11703 model. Does the receiver have a flag engraved on it near the bolt release? Does the receiver extension have the notches to allow the collapsible stock to collapse? The barrels should be interchangeable, the only issue may be the handguards may only fit a certain barrel assembly.

Me too. Took a while to put everything back together. I did several sets of those Troy Sights. The coater assembled my 3X magnifier LaRue mount wrong, so I had to take it back apart and flip everything around. Then I forgot where I put the screws that tension the magnifier into the mount. Finally found them after an hour of searching. The coater painted the pistol grip core black rather than burnt bronze. I'm not real worried about it since I was on the fence concerning which way to go with it. It's nice having the handguards, pistol grip core, cheek riser and the magazine cap all matching. The handguards came out very well. A huge improvement over how they looked at the beginning! I put some black lacquer on the PWS receiver extension. Mainly testing to see how easily the black cleans up over the burnt bronze.

Some of the parts came in today! I'll take some pictures and post them up this afternoon. The handguards I made look pretty good. You can still see where the works was done, but you can't feel any of it. The appearance is much better and much more durable than that rubberized spray paint I used. Another nice feature is the Cerakote has a rougher finish than the bare plastic handguards, so if you like a little more grip on your handguards, it will do it. I really hope WMD Guns hurries up!

Soccom, Ever consider doing an aluminum tube? It would be lighter than the titanium, corosion resistant, easier to machine and cheaper. Sure, it isn't as strong, but most users aren't beating on their guns that much. Weight savings for gamers might be worth feeling out. I figure if aluminum 7075 receiver extensions hold up just fine one the AR15, a supported mag tube should do just fine.

Good info. I assume you removed it? Did you reinstall it? What did you use to swag the material?

I wish. UPS says Monday. :/

Has anyone tried this on purpose or by accident?

It won't hurt the weapon. I've considered trying it to see what effects on the action speed would occur without the 8 grams of weight on the reciprocating bolt carrier. Just never got around to trying it. -
Not much can be done to the rubber over-mold. If you had a field stock, you could stipple it if desired.

I'd recommend posting some pictures of exactly what you want measured. It'll reduce the errors on the returned data. There may be some size variance even on same model specs. Take a look at this R&D thread from carriercomp from a few years back. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/23704-M4-Research-for-R-amp-D I'll mic mine out whenever it comes back. -
There is always the good ol' fashion driveway toss. I hate it when I see my neighbor's jeep after he puts that horrible tire shine dressing on the wheels. The only time my truck gets washed is when it rains -- you can guess how often that is here in Arizona! No.6: Sounds like you have a compact package in the works. I have a few billet lowers, the DDLES weighs more than them. Between the FCG area and the magwell, there is a significant amount of aluminum that wasn't machined out. The lower I have is only the 6061 billet, since I would probably still be waiting for a lower if I ordered their 7075. With that super lightweight barrel I made, the weight of the weapon centers around the magwell. Loaded package weight is still only around 5 - 5.5 lbs.

Bottom line is, 922® compliance these days is easy and fairly inexpensive. I'm not aware of any prosecutions of 922® violations on the Benelli platform. When it comes to the ATF and compliance, I value my dog's life. If I had an H2O, I would put US made parts in it too since the ATF shut down the sales of that particular model as well. Drop the following parts in a 11711 or 11721; Magazine Follower Hammer Trigger Disconnector
