  1. Hey everyone, hope your seasons are going great! Just wanted to start up a thread that was focused on what you all are doing this fall for Scent Elimination and Scent Attractants. I have been playing around with everything from Dead Down Wind to Scent Killer in every form you can imagine (detergent, Field Spray, Body Soap, Etc.). If you guys use the dead down wind soap I recommend getting some of their lotion because it will dry you out bad. Looking forward to using it during White Tail Season, haven't got to see my Scents work yet because no bear have come to my site while I have been in. I will be using Wild Life Research Center's "Special Golden Estrus" instead of Tink's # 69 which I have used for years with some decent results, but I feel like trying something new. Anyways let everyone know what you guys are using that is new or your old favorites so we can all benefit this fall in our Hunting Adventures.
  2. What did you get for a .22? Tell me you have a bull barrel on it...PLEASE! I love bull barrel .22s, like my dad's Ruger 10/22. They are so freaking accurate, fun, and cheap to shoot.
  3. Thanks. Didn't see that Turkey Scratch
  4. Going in Tomorrow with my Dad, we are going to do a bacon grease burn to pull in the bears that are feeding at night. We now know there are some big bears visiting my bait site and now its a matter of putting in the blind time. Baiting is way harder and way more work than I had ever planned on, but I'm glad that I have done it and learned how. May tomorrow be a Great and Successful Hunt!
  5. Thanks for the pics. What ammo are you using?
  6. True, but still one of the most original ideas I have seen in a long time, and a fun one at that. Def don't waste time on that with the upcoming seasons. What are you going for first in your neck of the woods?
  7. No its not at all like that, do some research and you tell me what gun is involved in more accidental self shootings than the Glock. I know Duggan you are so highly trained but statistically the Glock causes most of the accidental self shootings amongst officers. Maybe its a numbers game because of the fact that Glock comes in with the lowest quote when a police department gets ready to buy new pistols, but from what my local law enforcement has said to me and what my concealed weapons permit trainer who is a retired cop from New York City is that Glocks cause the most accidental self shootings due to it's Trigger Safety. Prove me wrong with data, don't just trash talk. I never said I didn't like the Glock, I shoot my Bro's Glocks all the time and they are a blast. My brothers and I have never shot our selves, and I'm sure that a lot of the police officers who have shot themselves accidentally are highly trained, so what is it that caused them to have an AD?
  8. Trapshooter1, why don't you design a gun for shooting this off. Think of it as a potato gun type of assembly. Test your theory.
  9. Nice pattern Trapshooter1. Was that out of your new Benelli? Thanks for the pic. I will have to get out there and do a few more pattern tests when I get a chance, baiting bear has been a lot more work than I had planned for.
  10. The Glock is a nice weapon my brothers have a few, but just keep in mind that its "Trigger Safety" causes more accidental self shootings than any other gun on the market, Just ask your local law enforcement
  11. Cheek your shots. If you can see the holes or ribs in your vented ribbed barrel than your eye is too high. Were you shooting from a bench?
  12. I will have to take your word on this one, because that is one load I will not be pattern testing for this forum. Wish you had the paper targets to post. Oh well. Good Luck this fall if you have a fall shotgun season otherwise best of luck next Spring.
  13. The Smith & Wesson M&P is such a great gun series. I have it in 45 acp and it is unstoppable. When they first came out they were doing a bunch of shows on TV that tested their performance and ruggedness. In one show, I believe it was "Sighting In" they put it into a rock tumbler for 10 minutes with giant rocks, they said it was the equivalent of aging it 50 years...not to mention the wear and tear it received. They took it out of the rock tumbler and chambered a round and pulled the trigger via a string and BOOM! From there I was a believer and called up my gun dealer Immediately and ordered one with night sights (Black of Course - Sorry to anyone who owns the Earth colored one but I find it to be hideous). The only test that I have seen on TV where the M&P series did not hold up well was a test for military use in the dessert where they filled the gun with very fine sand. That was the only thing that kept the gun from shooting and a reminder to all military who are stationed in the dessert is to always keep their firearms clean and sand free. I have NEVER ONCE had ANY PROBLEMS with this gun and although I clean it after every shooting session, I have faith in it, and would never be worried about it not performing, which to me I find Great because I have a concealed carry permit and also bait bear so this gun is with me everywhere and I need a gun that will always perform and a gun that I don't have to worry about. What a GUN! Love it!
  14. Thanks you guys for all of the feedback, sorry if I have been unclear in any way. This question was posted because I wanted to shoot the Gold Magnums by Brenneke out of my SuperNova with a Carlson's rifled choke. Now before any of you show me the Brenneke chart that says it can not or should not be done, I contacted them directly to understand why I couldn't shoot them if they had identical ballistics and similar characteristics of the Black Magics with the exception that Gold Magnums are a Sabot slug. The response I got from Brenneke reads: Dear Mr. Tyson, I'm sorry that I couldn't respond immediately on your last questions because I left my office before I got your mail. Germany is 6 hours or more ahead of your time. On your questions: 1. You can shoot the Gold Magnum out of your SuperNova with Rifled choke if there is no diminishing of the barrel diameter at the muzzle. I don't know what a Carlson's choke means in detail. The rifling itself will be no problem for the Gold Magnum. 2. The Gold Magnum performs the same as the Black Magic 12ga 3" because of the identical ballistics. In our program there is no other load which can be compared directly with the Gold Magnum or Black Magic Magnum. I hope you had a very successful hunt on Black Bear with Brenneke slugs. It's the best choice you could get on the market. The stopping and killing power is tremendous. If you can give me a short report how they performed in the field I would appreciate very much. Thanks. Best regards, Dr. Peter Mank B R E N N E K E G M B H P.O. Box 16 46 - 30837 Langenhagen - Germany Tel.: +49-511-97262-0 - Fax: +49-511-97262-62 www.brenneke.com After receiving this email I contacted Carlson's Chokes to see if their rifled choke for my SuperNova had a diminishing diameter at the muzzle. This is Mr. Carlson's response: Shane Carlson This choke does NOT have a diminishing bore diameter. It is a straight .010 constriction with a 1-35 twist. From your statement I would imagine that this choke should be just fine for this load in question. We appreciate you using our products. If you need anything else please let us know. Thanks Carlson's Choke Tubes So I am going to take Shane Carlson's advice on this one and use the Gold Magnums. I appreciate all of your measurements and debating, and I'm sorry for being so confusing, my bad. Thanks Again and if any of you care to debate whether or not I should use the Gold Magnums out of my SuperNova with the Carlson's rifled choke than I would greatly appreciate all of the responses and possible deterrents before I fire them off.
  15. That is GREAT! HAHA! Can't imagine that it would go that fast but it sure would be funny. It would probably start to tumble right out of the muzzle if it made it that far. Good imagination Trapshooter1.
  16. Instead of searching for Nova gun cases you should type something along the lines of: "hard gun case 30 inches " or something like that with a size that has extra room for your overall gun length. This will ensure you get the best results out of your search engine because it only works with the words you typed. Just a little tip for future searching. You get the best results with this method when using Google and after getting your results click the shopping option at the top of the page. I agree with the above posts. Cheap and Good.
  17. If you measure the lowest depth of your chokes threads it should give you the highest point of your barrel's threading which should be the diameter of the barrel...right? As far as being clear if you combine the first post with the second post you get the full post. Novaking understood it. Thanks again NovaKing!
  18. Thanks Novaking your the man
  19. Actually they do make handguns but they are for competition (Olympic Competitors use them) http://www.berettaaustralia.com/dati/ContentManager/files/benelli/MP90S-World-Cup_32-2000.jpg
  20. I agree with Trapshooter1 here but if the problem is bothering your friend it may be a weathered or worn in recoil pad that needs to be replaced. Heck if he wanted to he could even get an aftermarket recoil pad if he thought it would reduce recoil better than Benelli's, not to mention probably save him some loot. Good luck
  21. Would it be easier to ask what is the outside diameter of your choke tubes threading? Does anyone have a caliper handy? This question only pertains to the SuperNova's barrel. Thank you for anyone's correct answer.
  22. Does anyone know the inside diameter of the SuperNova barrel? Thanks in advance.
  23. I use a Smith and Wesson M&P 45. Its a 10 +1 single stack that comes with 3 different hand grips, so that you can customize the grip to your hand size. Rent it at the range if they have one. Outstanding Performance, Reliability, and if you purchase one remember to get the night sights ! Good Luck
  24. Thanks guys just got 50 2-3/4 00 buck 50 #8 and a box of Winchester Supreme Slugs for free. You guys rule. Thanks for the primer tip and everyone's other advice
  25. My calculator said that too but I figured it was easier to round down, like the number of votes to views
