    with or without

She is a Beauty! Gold engravings and a choke to match! How long before you get one done with 24K? You know you want to, plus it would just be a show piece. Or you could get a gold Benelli (Dipped or something) and have the engravings be black and use a black choke......that would be hard to do or even get but if anyone could do that it would be you. Just think: 1 of 1! Back to the topic...Great gun, Keep it on there!
  2. Put on your safety glasses and remove the limiter through the end of the magazine. You will need a pair of pliers or some tool to remove the plug but be careful because as soon as that plug comes out that spring is going to shoot out if your not careful! Watch out for the spring or it could put an eye out! After you pull out your shell limiter (red in color) insert the spring back into the magazine and reinsert the plug. Viola you have 4+1! Good Luck
  3. You could not have made a better choice! Wait until you shoot your first 3.5" (at least out of your own gun!) I wish I could give you some advice about where to buy one, I will have to get back to you, not to sure how helpful I can be due to the strict regulations CA has on guns so my websites may not be helpful. Good luck, and let us know when you get your first Benelli!
  4. Glad to hear that you are home safe, Not every season is a success but every season is a Great Adventure with lots to learn from. Glad you had the opportunity to share that adventure with your wife. Happy Hunting!
  5. Here is the list of guns that I would choose (based on your wants) strictly for range shooting, Starting with my FAV to least FAV with the specifications you listed kept in mind. Remember you get what you pay for and at the range with a range only gun you better be real cool. Personally if I had a range only gun it would be an over and under with engravings, but that's just me. Hope this helps: Legacy Sport http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_legacy.php SBEII http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_super_black_eagle_2.php Montefeltro Silver http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_montefeltro.php Super Sport and Sport II http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_supersport_and_sport_2.php Good Luck, Hope you get what you want, for the present and future with this gun. Make the right choice and you will be happy for many years to come! And yes I know he narrowed his search, but keeping an open mind is the key to a happy life.
  6. Glad to see your power is back on. Can't wait to see your pattern tests. It will be very interesting. Would you please include the model of your gun and choke used for the tests along with yardage so that we can all benefit from your tests and comparisons and know if there is an increase in density compared to your other buckshot. It would be much appreciated and I can't wait. I am a fan of Federal 00 and 000 3.5" buckshot, but than again that is for hunting, as I use a S&W M&P 45 with my Doberman for HD protecting my family or the FN 5.7, but the 5.7 can hit homes very far away after going through walls, so I like to use a slower heavier bullet that is safe for my family and neighbors. Good luck, I hope the ammo test are as positive as their claims. Tyson
  7. I got you bro. Hope you get out to Missouri! This fall the shotshell that worked for me was the Winchester Supreme High Velocity Turkey #6 2 oz. loads through my SuperNova with a Carlson's Extended Turkey Choke .665 Ported (I know how you feel about that but its what I got for the time being..all my money has gone towards Sitka Gear recently.) Didn't get my Tom that I have been chasing for over 6 months, but there is always next year, so he should be bigger unless he has peaked but that boy is Huge (Easily twice as big as this girl!). It was the last day that I could hunt so I had to take my opportunity when it presented itself. Hope you all have a great Season! Happy Hunting and Be SAFE!!!!!
  8. Don't you worry bro, I got you on this one. Sorry that they closed your season. BOOOOOOOO!
  9. Not yet, that would be a pretty easy removal in comparison to the internal chokes. Gun vice or vice with cloth, and a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench with cloth would do the trick on the external chokes.
  10. Beautiful German Short Haired Pointer! No wonder she was sold for $3,000 Our family has a Great Bloodline of GSHP as well, coming from national champions just like your boy's dog. I saw their site, very nice. Do they do all their own breeding there, or just offer dogs from other breeders and do the training? Either way thanks for sharing.
  11. OK, I do care. Here is an article worth reading, and its not a third party unbiased one but it is pretty honest. Maybe this helps, maybe not, but here you go: http://www.chuckhawks.com/george_trulock.htm PS. Sorry for the aggressive earlier post, wicked bad day at work. My sarcasm and insults were inappropriate, and I do apologize. Good Luck.
  12. PS good luck yote hunting. I love hunting predators. We are lucky up here in Maine, we get to hunt them year round, no bag limit, and from January to June 5th we can hunt them 24 hours a day. With the only exception being that there is no hunting of any type on Sundays in Maine. Have a blast and Good Luck.
  13. OK.... 12 ga is not my self defense weapon. No intention. Always read before posting. Good luck. Did you keep up with that..? Typical MH
  14. Look Trapshooter, that was literally pasted from the email they sent me, I know how to read the chokes, but they do have a point that it is slightly easier to read a number then it is to count the notches. Next, to the person who wrote the post above Trapshooter: I will have to go back to Area 51 to dig out the archives on extended chokes and better patterning propaganda, Engineers don't know anything, and extended chokes don't pattern better. You are sooooooo right. I don't care, submitted an email from Carlson's Choke Tubes, tried a little harder than you to post some actual responses from people who manufacture them... Your just crapping on extended chokes because you secretly want one. And yes they can cost more just like your hunting gear in XXXXXXXXL costs more. The only thing I agree with you on is to pattern your gun. I do it all the time with lots of guns and a lot of different ammo, for many different game, and at varying yardages. Good job you have cracked the case and spoiled the plot to sell extended chokes that don't actually pattern any better. I don't care.
  15. I agree with McDaddy here, but an M2 for $900..? Is it used or an older model? If it is a brand new M2 field I would get it in a second! They start at $1229 and go up from there depending on the extras. Good Luck!
  16. Best of luck out there ArtL. Hope your M2 (if that is what you are going to be using) treats you well. Happy Hunting!
  17. Yeah Thanks Again. I only have one Mag-Shok Heavyweight #5 3.5" shell left but that is all that it will take anyways. I will follow up with the Winchester Supreme High Velocity Turkey rounds if for whatever reason the first one doesn't do the trick. Turkey season for me starts on Saturday, and is the only day I can really hunt out of the 5 days, hope the Gobbler Flock heads my way so I don't have to use my tag on a hen, although the meat should be a little more tender. I guess its a win win, but my family is having a gentleman's bet of who gets the best Tom. The winner is based on Three Categories: 1. Weight of the dressed bird 2. Beard Length 3. Talon Length I will post my results, I hope the rain stays away, but that didn't stop me this spring ! Hope all of your seasons are going great! Happy Hunting!
  18. I am not angry or offended in the least, but you sound quite unhappy. Thank you for serving our Country, but lets get back to the topic. The way that we show results here is with shot patterns on paper so we can determine consistency with different combinations and ammo through our various guns. You chose to contribute to this thread and I am only asking for you to upload some evidence to back your statements. So the next time your at the range or your land (Where ever it is that you shoot) please take some photos after your done so that we can all benefit from your results with your M2 and the slugs you used during your session. You can handle this topic with a little more maturity, anger will get in the way of making good decisions and cloud your judgment. This is the way that this Forum works.
  19. Most gun fights (HD and such) happen within 12 feet. This is 2.5 times that distance. (This is a target of a man not wild game) Post some pattern tests of how great your 870 is with sluggers instead of just commenting on other people's tests. You are literally involved in a thread that deals specifically with the best combo for shooting slugs out of a BENELLI SuperNova. Post some pics with the yardages, and if you get down to 30 feet I hope you do throw your gun at the target (Because quite frankly I am sick of hearing about your 870...We all have one(In my case 2, the express and the magnum), they are great little starter guns, but come on if your not going to contribute, stay out. We get it you shoot sluggers through your 870...post some pics even though its irrelevant to the topic here at BENELLI USA Forums. Touch the holes like I did freestanding at 30 feet shooting your slugs...just try to with your amazing 870... and then after you do it (If you can), remember I am shooting a 600 gr slug while doing it. Post evidence, please do not continue to say you shoot an 870 with sluggers...my head is about to explode. P.S. Buckshot will destroy just about everything from 10 to way past 30 yards and I doubt you could throw your gun 30 feet (Even though I hope you do)...do you shoot often because I am hearing a lot of BS. Come on man your a 60 year old retired Deputy Fire Chief, lets cut the crap and get back to topic (Slug setup for a SuperNova). Thanks.
  20. Here is what Carlson's Chokes had to say about that: Dear Tyson: The extended choketubes gives you a 25% longer parallel section than the flush mount choke does. This longer parallel section gives you a more consistent and denser pattern. The added knurling makes for easy removal without having to have a wrench and the laser marked knurled ends makes it easy to see which constriction you have in your gun without taking it out to check. There is a discount if ordered on line for 2 or more of the Extended Sporting Clay chokes or the Extended Super Steel. Thanks for checking with us. Customer Service Carlson's Choke Tubes www.choketube.comDear Tyson: Their extended chokes are not expensive (about $35 average), and yes they are easier to take out and view your constriction while in or out, but they do have a denser pattern due to its extended size. I agree with trapshooter that you will hit the target 99.99999999999% of the time (if you know what you are doing) but special purpose choke tubes are just that. If I want a nice steel shot choke tube for long distance you can bet you butt that I am going to get an extended Steel choke tube. Call it preference, call it experience, but I choose chokes based on the job at hand. Yes I do use internal choke tubes as well because I use the right tool for the right job. And yes timb99, you do need to pattern your shots, that is what every hunter/shooter should do to know how their gun patterns at the different yardages of the target they will be shooting or may be shooting at. But ammo will play a role in this as well, especially the wadding and shape of the shot inside the shell. Good luck and Happy Hunting.

    Benelli MR1

I as well would love to know. The 223 rem is a very versatile round. Hope to get some field test reports from those who have one of these bad boys.
  22. I look forward to hearing about your pattern tests. It would be great if you could post some pics to see the results out of your setup at the different yardages you plan on shooting. Good Luck and have a Blast!
  23. The Carlson's Dead Coyote Choke has a 10" circle at 70 yards for T shot through Buckshot loads. Not really sure on what your plans are for these rounds...Self defense if I had to guess, but if you want precision at close range, say hostage situation you would get deadlier accuracy out of a slug...just a thought, but I have read up on it and have seen some segments on TV about it..I think it was "American Guardian" that really demonstrated the lethal precision of using slugs in this kind of situation. Here is a picture from last weekend's shooting with slugs at 30 feet (10 yards). The two in the middle were by me free standing out of my SuperNova with an IC Choke shooting Brenneke Black Magics and the one that hit the top of the intruder's head were Remington sluggers out of my brothers 887. Hope this helps in some way.
  24. I like the idea of networking for hunting. Wish there was more of it on Great Forums like this. I did invite one person on here to come up to hunt my family's land (605 acres) for any season that he wanted, but he was too busy with school. Oh well no skin off my back, hope that you meet up with some good ol' Benelli enthusiasts on here that can show you around there parts! Have fun and be safe! By the way are you going to let your sons use your Benellis? haha...that is a hard call IMO..depending on their age and respect for other peoples property. Give them the fever too early and Christmas might get a little too expensive!
