Not to play devil's Advocate but you would think that the metal taken out would be melted down and reused instead of being thrown away. Trapshooter1 can you think of a situation where a ported choke would be better for any of shotgun purpose in the hunting circle? It seems like you despise them.

If they are just old its fine though right? There is no shelf life for ammo is there?

Thanks man, a little dirt and grime shouldn't be a problem though right, I mean I could just wash it off a little. Is there a problem with a little oil? **** with reloads you usually roll the brass in a little oil anyways right? Thanks for your reply I will pick through it and take the good stuff.

Glad to see the true hunting enthusiasts voting and not just looking. 99 views and only 7 votes. Just under 7% view to vote ratio. Come on everyone lets see some action here. Click yes or no, or at least go read one of his great adventures, believe me its worth it!

Do you have any more pics of this one? Would love to see some full and different shots if you have any kicking around. Thanks man.

It must be hard shooting at the range with the crowds that swarm you when you whip out one of your masterpieces. Do you have some guns that you set aside for shooting or are you mostly a collector?

My friend and I are having a debate about ammo going bad. She has a bag of old 12 GA Ammo that she was going to throw out and I asked her if I could have it. She said they were no good because they were too old. I said that the ammo looked fine and was wondering what you guys had to say on this topic. If you say ammo goes bad please list your reasons and be specific. I cant see why it would be bad, **** a little corrosion could come off with a tiny bit of work. Any ways let me know so we can settle this debate and hopefully I can take a big bag of "bad" ammo off her hands. Thanks everyone

Yeah I am trying to get the 30-06 for you as well, still no response on the 308 which is very strange. As far as sending to dealers - That I don' want to do. If I can find one at that price I will pm you and we will work out the details.

Has your dog had a bird in it's mouth yet (especially one that you just shot)? The hardest part with a lot of dogs is getting them to release. I know this doesn't answer your question at all but I was just wondering, because when they know that they are out to get a bird and understand their important role they tend to be enthusiastic about whatever job they are doing for you.

Called up a local restaurant that has amazing food called the Chinah Dinah who was nice enough to give me some of their used frialator grease. This is the really good stuff because they use it for fresh Maine Seafood and Homemade Fries. I'm going to spread it all over the baiting area and in stumps tonight as well as check on the bait(Hopefully Refill my Bait too). This is the last night I go in until Saturday for my first Official Black Bear Hunt!

Unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! You truly have a magnificent collection!

Anytime Hookster. Hope all goes well, and it def didn't say on their site that it was on back order, even though that doesn't mean anything, best of luck!

Jeez that sounds awful. Best of luck with your Vinci, this is the first bad news I have heard about them.

I know this is not about the R1 but I'm going to start reloading wildcat loads for my .257 Roberts Ackley Improved and I am going to be using the Hornady Interlok SSTs after doing extensive research, so I think that you have made a great choice for the projectile you want to use.

Finally got bear coming to my bait site. They just found it and I reloaded the drum with grain that has oats and a 12% molasses count along with tons of bread (all different kinds including raisin) and spread bread and rotten meat all around the area. I also spread 4 bottles of maple syrup, one bottle of blueberry maple syrup, 2 bottles of honey, and 4 big bottles of vanilla extract over all the trees, moss, rocks and ground surrounding the bait drum. I hope the coyotes and the raccoons keep doing their job by spreading the rotten meat scent out for miles, because I'm going out Saturday for the first day in my ground blind and I'm hoping to have some big black visitors!! .

For a lot of chokes they say on the packaging that they fit the Beretta and Benelli. I think it has to do with the barrel's inside diameter and threading. You should not have any problems, I use a Carlson's choke that said on the package that it fits both Beretta and Benelli guns and I haven't had any problems but let's see what others have to say.

I took note of your advice on the turkey post. I didn't recommend them to him. I just said that ammo would be a factor in getting a ported or non ported choke, not that I have seen any advantage to a getting a ported choke, but I'm sure there has to be some applications where a ported choke is good.

Still no answer. What did I ruin again? Oh yeah nothing. I never said you didn't have a nice collection, so don't get all worked up.

Post it. Post pattern tests of multiple loads. It's easier to put people down than it is to actually go out and do the work and hope that you help just one person. I can make baseball sized holes in paper too but that doesn't help anyone here.

Please vote if you enter this thread. Steve messaged me and said it was fine that I did the poll and he was glad that I enjoyed his stories, so if you too enjoyed his stories let him know it!

Good Luck Steve on your Dall Sheep Hunt. I can't wait to hear all about it. Thanks for the advice on where to hit the bear too, I'm going in this Saturday if all goes well. Happy Safe Hunting!

My Dad's SBE shoots high as well, I believe most Benelli's shoot high so that you can shoot and still see the bird, but it can take some time to get used to. Personally my SuperNova has one of the larger sights like the one HOGWILD recommended and it shoots dead on. Having a larger site that is raised up slightly does compensate for that higher shot. Believe me I was frustrated with my Dad's SBE last week shooting clays after switching from my SuperNova but once I got the hang of and adjusted my shots I had a lot of fun. Best of luck, let us know what you do and how if it improves.

Thought Forums were for asking questions, debating, and finding answers. I asked a question, now your supposed to answer it, not answer a question with another question. Don't be Pompous. I get it you collect guns.

Have fun on Saturday, I would say good luck but doesn't look like you need it.
