  1. What would that look like...an 18" barrel with an 80" extended tube magazine? How long would the tube have to be before you started shooting the end off it as the shot pattern expands? Wouldn't be much for close quarter combat. The magazine will enter the room wwwaaayyy before the muzzle. A snail drum like Saiga uses might be nice.

    Where's Kip???

Kip, if you're out there can you give us a quick bi-weekly update? Tubes, muzzle brakes, rails, charging handles, and whatever else you have in the works. A magazine follower might be a simple item that would count towards the import parts limit compliance.
  3. A receipt just shows you purchased a part from a US supplier. It does not really verify the origin of the part. Unless the part is serialized there is no way to verify the part on your gun is the same as the one referenced on the receipt. I also noticed the BATF employees appear to be reluctant to attach their name or title to any correspondence. There does not appear to be a name or signature on any of the letters posted. Even if you present the letter to an agent they still have "plausible deniabiltiy" on their side. The fact that the parts count has varied from 11 to 13 causes me some concern. If they check back with HQ and get a different parts count than is referenced in your letter what takes precedence? It also begs the question of why there are Benelli +2 extensions in the US now and the discontinuation of the collapsible stocks. Was the +2 extension legal in the past. How would they know when it was purchase and for what gun? Will they determine the parts count based on your serial number and the rules in effect on the date of import? We're talking about the ATF, I think they like the rules to be vague and confusing...it makes compliance impossible and they can impound your gun and decide if it's illegal later; "Sorry our mistake, it's actually comprised of (15,17,19, LH and RH foregrips, or whatever puts you just out of compliance on that particular day) number of parts.
  4. I must confess my own enthusiam is waning somewhat. I attempted to purchase my tube on one of Kip's gunbroker.com auctions. I have not received any confirmation or correspondence after using the "Buy it Now" feature. Granted, he does give specific instructions in the auction that you will be contacted prior to shipping but an email acknowledging the order would have been nice. I still have not been able to contact Kip. I left two phone messages with my cell phone number, email, and this forum ID. I want to get on the list for the muzzle brake and charging handle when they are available. He had photos of a box of muzzle brakes ready for finishing, but that was weeks ago.
  5. Before I spend $150 on the GG&G... I'll try super glue and a quarter. I suppose you could always sell the "Fabulous, Awesome, Benelli Factory Bolt Release on Gunbroker.com for a ton of money...like that +0 Factory Mag Extension the other day.
  6. What is the roll pin size? Is it the 1/16" or next size up. I used to be a machinist and can say that quality tools are required to do quality work. The last thing you would want to do is break off a pin punch in the receiver. However, spending $150 on punch sets to install a $150 (or $59) part appears excessive. I'd rather buy just the size I need for the job. I don't do too much mechanical work any more and would never use the other drive pin punch sizes.
  7. According to the copy it is FANTASTIC and a unique addition to your collection. You will "LOVE this" is written twice. It is Awesome! Maybe its made of solid Gold and is only painted in Camo Tan. I heard that the Knights of Malta brought back gold from the holy wars. They melted some of it down into a statue of a falcon and painted it black. The remainder was cast into Benelli magazine tube limiters and painted tan. Bogart found the Maltese Falcon but until recently the whereabouts of the Maltese Benelli tube was shrouded in mystery! Better bid on it quick before it is lost again into the sands of time! Wow 90+ views on the auction and no bids! Go figure.
  8. I'm willing to bet its more like this: "honestly honey...I promise to get rid of all my nasty guns now that we're married. See, I have the rifle and some of my most valuable parts up for sale right now. Don't worry snookums... someone is sure to buy them at these prices!"
  9. I couldn't wait any longer so I decided to make my own full length tube. I'll test it at the range as soon as the paper-mâché is dry!
  10. Ah yes... the rare "+0" extension? I have the black one for only $98.00 (I'll throw in free shipping) if you want a complete set!
  11. In my younger days back in the 80's I had the experience of giving Ted Nugent a hard time. I worked in a camera store in Michigan and he came in with a roll of film to get developed and printed and I was the store clerk. I asked for his name and when he said "Ted Nugent" I asked if he was "The Ted Nugent" or merely "a Ted Nugent". I absoluletly refused to believe the dude in the overalls and the Caterpillar Tractor hat was a rock star. He was pi$$ed that I didn't recognize him (I was never a big fan of his music) and proceeded to do the screwiest things to convince me. He sang some of his songs, did a little air guitar work, and eventually went out to his truck and came back with some photos and record album covers. I still didn't believe him. He slammed the door when he left. i'm probably lucky to have survived. I found out later he had a farm in Horton Michigan, near Jackson, and it really was "The" Ted Nugent.
  12. This is a followup to Renault's thread about cycling rounds through an M4. I wrote that you needed to either pull the trigger or press the cartridge drop lever to get the next round to cycle. I noted that pressing the drop lever decocks the gun and makes a sound nearly identical to pulling the trigger. My question is: If a round is in the chamber and the bolt is closed, is there any danger of firing the round by pressing the cartridge drop lever?
  13. In fact there are many similarities between shotguns and cigars. For starters both are measured by gauge size. A 12ga shotgun shell if .729" in diameter. The cigar ring gauge size is measured in 64ths of an inch. For instance a 32 ring gauge cigar is 32/64" in diameter or 1/2". It so happens that some Churchill size cigars are 47 ring gauge or .734" in diameter. Almost exactly the same diameter are the 12Ga shell. This means that almost all 12ga shotgun accessories can easily be adapted to 47 Ring gauge cigar accessories. The .005" difference should ensure your cigars do not fall out of your bandolier! You could use your old magazine tube as a handy cigar case. Although the cigars are twice as long as the shells so that cuts down on the magazine capacity dramatically. So remember 12ga Shotgun Shells are almost exactly the same diameter as a 47ring gauge Cigar. It's not a common cigar gauge in the USA so you may be forced to switch to Cubans...but hey...things are tough all over. Domestically the Dominican Cohiba Robusto Fino at 4.75" X 47ga is probably the shortest you will find. I'm sticking with Cubans.
  14. I am looking to purchase a pistol in the near future so I have been renting various makes and models at the range. Last week I started loading cartridges in the magazine of a SW MP9 and when I went to insert the magazine I realized I was putting the cartridges in backwards. I felt pretty stupid but at least no one was around to see it. If you look back on all of these posts the guys on this forum were pretty helpful, not too condescending, and offered tons of helpful advice. Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question...but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots!
  15. Maybe that is why they stopped importing them with the collapsible stock? If you merge the pistol grip and buttstock into one part you hit 10...the magic ATF number! If you got one of the original imports that came with the collapsible stock would you be grandfathered in? They could conceivably know when it was imported based on the serial number. That would imply I need to use a USA manufactured collapsible stock if I want to replace my solid one. If the solid stock version is conssidered to be 10 parts then you could esentially add a USA made mag extension to bring the count down to 9 and then buy a Benelli collapsible stock to bring it back up to 10? ...the mind wobbles
  16. Well that took all of 2 minutes. Here's an i*pod Touch mounted to a sniper rifle. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/01/20/****-touch-mounted-on-m110-sniper-rifle/ Can anyone find a rail mounted fan?
  17. I've been ridiculing gun accesories by joking about a rail mount cup holder for quite a while. I have not felt this humbled since my comments in the post mentioning duct tape as a method for mounting a flashlight and I found 70,000 google hits for "tactical" duct tape! My other disparaging comment regards rail mounted LCD screens with DVD players. Can one of you guys dig up a photo of that??

    Where's Kip???

I haven't seen any posts from Kip lately. Somehow I can imagine Kip getting up 2 hours before he goes to sleep and working 26 hours a day at the shop to catch up on the tube orders! I ordered my tube on one of his auctions on gunbroker.com. I thought I pulled a fast one, as he had two auctions at the old $189.00 price while his website showed the increased price of $236.25 (before his "sale"). I have not had any communication regarding the auction to confirm I'm on the waiting list for future production. I was anxiously awaiting word on the new muzzle brakes, rails, and charging handles. I want to make sure I get on the waiting list or prepay for one of each. I'm new to the forum and I get the impression all of you old timers will swoop down and buy up the entire stock before us new guys are even aware they are available. I'm a nervous wreck monitoring this site, www.shop.carriercomp.com, and gunbroker.com. Where do I go and what is the secret handshake???
  19. It also sounded like you are trying to top it off with one round in the chamber plus a full magazine. It always freaked me out a little bit that the gun must be cocked before you can load cartridges in the magazine. The "Cartridge Drop Lever" is not the same as the "Bolt". Make sure you are operating them in the correct order. Operating the Cartridge Drop Lever makes the same sound as pulling the trigger. I think both operations decock the gun so I am reluctant to press the cartridge drop lever with a live round chambered and the bolt closed. I bought some 12ga Snap Caps (dummy rounds) to practice with and was glad that I did. Try loading fewer shells; load two in the magazine and NONE in the chamber. Press the cartridge drop lever to decock it and cycle the bolt to load the first round. You have to either pull the trigger (on the range or with Snap Caps only please!) or eject the chambered round and press the drop lever again to get the next round to cycle! It has to be decocked for the shell stop to allow the next round up the feed ramp. Using DUMMY ROUNDS, pulling the trigger, and cycling the bolt each time will eject the rounds like you are expecting. Add more shells if everything works OK to see if the new tube is the culprit. After making any mods, or even reassebling the gun after cleaning, I run my Snap Caps (dummy rounds) through the action to check everything out. Remember to keep them separate from the live ammo. I keep mine in my cleaning kit.
  20. I'd love to buy it but SWMBO would kill me!

  22. Sorry Unobtanium but I feel really threatened by your predilection for sesquipedalian words. As a service to other forum members I took the liberty of running one of your previous posts (quoted above) through the "Red Neck" dialectizer found at http://rinkworks.com/dialect/ This is how your post would read if you had a lower "tooth to head" ratio. *Th' wo'd ah used was "uninfo'med", fo' them among us who is illiterate, th' definishun of thet wo'd kin be foun' hyar www.dickshunary.com, dawgone it. 23. I really need mine by Christmas. Around here there is some fat dude in a red suit that is big on home invasions around the Christmas Holidays. If he shows up this year with his eight reindeer I'll be ready for him! Wait a minute... 1 Fat Dude + 8 reindeer + 1 Red Nosed Reindeer if its foggy... HOLY COW, I'LL BE THREE ROUNDS SHORT! Time to move up to an XRail! That will leave me with 13 rounds in case there are any Chanuka Zombies with him. http://www.xrailbyrci.com/
  24. At least Botach Tactical correctly describes the large diameter version as a "Rotating" handle on the Benelli Accessories page. They should get points for truth in advertising.
