  1. Just leave a trail of $20 bills leading into your bedroom window like breadcrumbs.
  2. What if you wake up at 3:00AM to find this guy rummaging around in your living room? Those of us favoring bird shot would be feeling pretty darn smug!

If it's anything like the Benelli's you simply take the nut off the barrel end and you should see a plug held in with a snap ring. It is just a metal ring that expands into a groove in the magazine tube. There should be little ears with holes in them. There are special pliers that are used that engage these holes and squeeze them together, thus reducing the effective diameter and allowing extraction. There will still be tension in the spring so be careful. Failing that there is also the hacksaw or pipe cutter approach. Neither is recommended.
  4. OOOOOH! Sounds like a sound argument for rifled slugs and a laser attachment! That argument would probably convince my wife of its necessity.
  5. They'll probably never even load it! If they do I have a good chance they'll be using Bird shot! A syllogism in Logic: Only Idiots use bird shot. All people that pay double for a gun are idiots. Therefore: People that pay double for a gun use bird shot!
  6. I'll add that to the list. I am trying some rifled slugs next. The Bird Shot just makes a mess of confetti out of the target anyway. My M4 was so accurate we ended up bringing the target in closer and blasting smiley faces into it and then carving it up slowly from the bottom up. At least with slugs I can see where my shots are landing. I will probably end up keeping some #4 or #1 Buck for HD. Count me as the first "Idiot" to repent and convert (Low end of the Buck Scale instead of High end of the Bird).
  7. Same guy sold a second one on GB for $3,390.00. There were over 40 bids on both auctions!
  8. Shoe polish or model airplane paint. Honestly...haven't you ever cheated anyone?
  9. I'll be running the receiver of my plain M4 down to "Things Remembered" at the mall. I'm sure they can engrave a flag on mine for about $20. If you see a "Limited Edition" M4 on GB with no papers...caveat emptor! Technically it will be a limited edition...of one:D
  10. I don't think we need any "Mod magic." We're all big boys and can pick up our toys and go home if the taunting is too much for us. I think the dialog is valuable even with the inflammatory commentary. It certainly makes it more interesting and there is usually some valuable information in every thread. I don't seriously believe we will ever reach a consensus on any proposition that is posted. It is up to each of us to weigh the validity of every argument and make our own decisions. The M4 was my first ever firearm purchase. Most of my friends that currently shoot vigorously tried to dissuade me from purchasing it. They thought it was grossly overpriced and potentially unreliable. It was the posts on this forum and similar ones that helped me make my purchase decision and I could not be happier with my purchase. Being relatively new to firearms I started out shooting #4 Bird Shot as that was what most people have recommended to me as an apartment dweller. When I say most people I am including a good number of folks at gun stores! Some were idiots but others were knowledgeable and helpful. I plan on purchasing some 00 Buck and some rifled slugs to try on my next range outing. I will eventually make my own decision but I would be foolish not to listen to everyone's arguments both for and against.
  11. If I'm following this thread correctly the lesson is: 1) Birdshot is suitable for killing birds 2) Using semantic logic, Buckshot should be suitable for killing bucks. 3) Until somebody packages "Peopleshot" I'm SOL! Bugs Bunny, sticking his finger in the gun and coming out of his hole: For shame doc. Hunting rabbits with an elephant gun. Elmer Fudd, looking at his gun in confusion: Ewaphant gun? Bugs Bunny: That’s right doc, so why don’t you go shoot yourself an elephant? (he goes back down his hole)
  12. I did not see the hours posted on his website a few weeks ago when I was trying to contact him. I will try again tomorrow at the appointed hour.
  13. I did consider that when he mentioned working night shift from 10PM to 10AM. I have called early in the morning between 8AM-9AM as well as once in the afternoon. There is an answering machine that picks up and left instructions on various ways to contact me including my screen name on this forum. I have not tried a late night call yet.

    M4 Handguard

This whole thread reminds me of a joke that I heard a Juggler use. He was going to juggle two balls and a hatchet. He claimed the hatchet was the original one used by George Washington to chop down the Cherry tree; of course he had to replace the handle...and the head...but it occupies the same space! We are all a bunch of elitist snobs!!! Screw the Italians ... BUY AMERICAN! That's the true intention of 922R and may God bless everyone at ATF for showing us the light! It's a cornerstone of the Obama stimulus plan. Look at the astronomical increase in gun sales since he took office. That's what I call results! Please feel free to mail me all of your unwanted foreign made stuff, I promise to dispose of it for you so you don't need to dirty your hands any longer. REPENT!
  15. Lethal - No Effective - Yes The psychological effect on the officer of getting hit by only four pellets was significant and, for some people, may have been sufficient to "stop" the fight. On the flip side, remember too that in the original post that the bad guy was shot multiple times in the torso with a 45! The 45 is supposed to be one of the top Man Stoppers available. Going the other extreme, back in 2001 here in Cleveland a 13 year old boy was shot and killed by a single BB fired from a BB gun. I myself accidentally killed a goose I was trying to scare with a Daisy spring loaded BB gun. I swear you could watch the BB in flight the muzzle velocity was so low. It appears that chance still plays an active roll.
  16. I ran my purchase through gunbroker.com (Auction 133660641 on 7/10). He is still listing the ti tubes there. He has an active auction right now. However, I received no response to my winning auction, no acknowledgment, no correspondence at all. I have made three phone calls and left messages with no response. I have tried leaving messages through his website as well. I have posted inquiries on this forum. If I were not a regular reader of this forum I would have long since left some scathing feedback on gunbroker.com. I'm sympathetic too, but there needs to be a minimal amount of communication. "Thanks for the order, I apologize for the delay, you are on the waiting list." was all I wanted to see. At this point I don't even know if he has my order queued and I still want to get on the list for a muzzle brake and charging handle but don't know how. I told you there had to be some sort of secret handshake involved.
  17. It does kind of look like the guy lost his ruler when measuring the screws don't it? I'm sure we could convince Kip to make a nice looking one out of titanium in a Cerakote finish.
  18. If you have that much ammo you may as well empty the magazine fast. http://www.firequest.com/catalog/gattriggermoreifno.html
  19. Try this website...they have everything from confetti rounds to hollow exploding slugs. Just make sure you don't get them mixed up. Remember Oddball in Kelly's Heroes when he shot the german tank with a "paint" round accidentally? I favor the flamethrower round! http://www.firequest.com/catalog/showcase_item_4.html
  20. Or hunting buddies with really bad aim. Didn't Dick Cheney shoot a friend in the face with bird shot? It was a 28ga and I think the bird shot in that incident was really small (#9 maaybe) as the victim was reported as having 200 pieces of shot in him. I keep #4 in mine as I do, in fact, live in an apartment and am concerned about penetration. God knows noise comes through the walls and ceilings like water. Come to think of it, water comes through the walls and ceilings like water too. I've been flooded by the upstairs tenant more than once. Maybe a drain in a strategic place in the shape of a 12ga slug would help. I work in Cleveland near the clinic and the face transplant story was big news around here. I saw copies of the x-ray and I can attest to the fact that #4 is very efficient at removing very large amounts of bone. You could very clearly see the shot pattern in the portion of the skull that remained. It looked like a good 30% of the skull was shot away. I honestly have no idea how someone could have possibly survived that.
  21. If the bad guy doesn't stop all the pellets...there will be less spackling required in the hallway with 00!
  22. They have a separate item for what they call a "Magazine Upgrade Kit". It's the spring, follower, and limiter tube.
  23. I'm going all out with 3" shells! A spring that long ain't going to compress into nothing. I'll just wait for a Dillon Aero Gatling Gun in 12ga with a 4400 round magazine.
  24. Reading other posts on other forums I get the impression the risk is not prosecution but the impounding of the firearm in question. There were reports of people being challenged at gun shows and firing ranges. One of the threads in this forum described a gun in for repairs and the gunsmith being audited for compliance by ATF. I think the risk of procsecution is miniscule for a 922 violation by itself. It would probably be added to a laundry list of charges associated with a more serious offence. I would be worried about compliance if I had to use my gun in self defense. Probably not in the criminal trial but I'm sure the lawyers in any civil cases would love to claim you illegally modified your weapon. An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure! What does a postage stamp cost?
  25. When I get around to writing my letter, I think I will include a copy of the older letter, posted in another thread, that states there are only 11 imported parts and ask for confirmation. They don't appear to have any ready reference or database that calculates the part count. It looks like they are counting for each inquiry. If you can get them to confirm there are only 11 parts, just changing the magazine tube should be sufficient for compliance. If enough of us get confirmation of 11 parts there may be some safety in numbers should anyone's gun get impounded by an over zealous ATF Agent. They may repudiate one letter as having incorrect info but it would be hard to argue multiple statements to a larger population. I suggest we attempt to guide them into a consistent response, whatever that may be. Does somebody want to take a shot at drafting and posting a standard form letter we could all use? ATF may appreciate a consistent format as they could send out a form letter reply.
