  1. I didn't think there was that much that could go wrong with a Nova (pump). There's only a couple things they could do. ???? What kind of problems were you having.
  2. One other thing to add: adding the heat is sometimes an art. I have one (friend's actually) that will not break loose. I've tried everything and apparently I'm not heating it enough or doing something wrong. I've removed others, but this one ain't budged yet. If you have the same problem, you may want to put the gun in some kind of vise because you can warp the recoil tube trying to turn the nut and, according to Benelli, they will not warranty the gun if the tube is warped by the owner. If it's out of warranty or you don't care, then this is not a concern. One other thing: when I called Benelli about this one that would not break loose (thinking something may be different about this gun), they offered to take the gun and change the spring. The customer rep said if it needed changing, they would not charge me. So, you might want to call them and ask if they'll change it out for you free. They may do it even if it's out of warranty. Just a thought. By the way, anyone who wants to offer suggestions on the one I have, please do so....i.e. where exactly to heat, photographs of someone actually putting the heat to it, etc. thanks...jed
  3. Real good at sending parts. Slow (at times) on the turn around if you send it in. However, I have heard of 2 and 3 week turnarounds. Back when I was having a time with my M2, and after a million calls, they agreed to give mine priority if I sent it in, but they would never say how long it would take. After learning of how they were going to fix it, and not wanting to be without a gun, I decided to fix it myself. They sent every part I wanted without question. I was very satisfied with that.
  4. I don't have a Vinci, but I thought they were designed to cycle lighter loads a little better than other models. I got two buddies with Vincis and they both shoot light loads good (shot light loads right out of box). However, if you are saying that the shell is hanging up 1/2 way out of the mag tube, then your problem may be a dirty mag tube and/or weak mag spring. Not sure how old it is, but this is an easy thing to try first. Disassemble the mag tube and clean very good. Make sure the follower (little plastic or alumium piece at end of spring) is real clean and smooth. Make sure the spring looks good and clean. I don't lube the tube since it attracks dirt, etc. I had a friend with an M2 doing this same thing the other day. A good mag cleaning fixed the problem. He had the plastic follower. Good luck. jed
  5. Anyone have a stock or forearm laying around they want to sale? I would prefer the American version, but I'm not picky. I believe the SBE will work too. thanks, jed

    ComforTech?

Might want to verify this, but the pads are different but they both pop in. The SBE pad, which also fits the M2, is shaped different in that it has some form to it that suppose to mold to left and right handed shooters. You can get them for left hand or right hand. They will cost around $100. You can get this pads on 3 different lengths of pull. The Supernova also pops in but it's a flat style pad that is designed for left or right handed shooters. The same pad fits left and right. It is harder and not the quality of the SBE pad (made for a cheaper gun I guess). But, it's still a pretty good pad. They are putting those pads on the SBE and M2 Americans. My friend has one and it's a pretty good pad. These pads are cheaper and one length of pull. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the pads are interchangable from the two guns. Hope this helps. jed
  7. Did it have screws or pop in?
  8. Ooops. I did not see this before I just posted something similiar. I called Benelli about this today and the rep I talked to did not know the answer. ?????? She wasn't sure. So, instead of hanging up and calling back, I thought I'd ask someone who actually has one. I will be by a gun store in a few days to see for myself is no one replys. jed
  9. Hello, can someone with the American version take a look at the recoil pad and tell me if it pops in (like the C/T) or does it have screws. thanks, jed
  10. Send it back or try replacing the carrier latch and spring. Benelli will send you one free if you call them with your serial number. Worth a try...it fixed my M2 a while back. However, if it is occurring every time with all shells, I would send it back. That would be an easy fix for Benelli. Problems that don't occur every time are harder for them. good luck, jed
  11. I may get bashed for this on a Benelli sponsered site, but here's my opinion: I started a "woman's day" of dove hunting in my dove field last year. On this day, we only allow the woman to shoot while the men sit around and drink beer and laugh at them (we are located in a position where they can't hear us, of course, else we'll get shot). So, naturally we men have the "who can get their wife the best gun" contest. This past shoot we had seven (7) woman shooting. Here are the guns used: Beretta 390 20 ga. (popular---up there with 391) Beretta 390 12 ga. (okay) Benelli M2 20 ga. (very popular) Benelli M2 12 ga. (not so popular) Beretta 391 20 ga. (most popular) Citori 20 ga. O/U (old gun...very nice) Beretta 391 12 ga (okay) The 391, 20 gauge, was a hit. All the woman switch around guns and the 391 (20 ga) was the gun preferred by the woman. The Citori was the sexest, of course. The M2 12 gauge was the least popular and none wanted to shoot it. All were shooting 1 oz and 1 1/8 loads. This probably has nothing to do with your question, but I would not give a woman a SBE. Why would you want a gun that shoots 3 1/2 shells for a woman? You may be wasting money. I have shot one (SBE) and own an M2. If you are going to stay with Benelli, I would go for the M2 20 gauge. A very nice gun. I plan to buy one for my wife at X-mas. I like the Benelli for the clean up else I would get the 391 20 gauge. Good luck. jed
  12. Just re-read the orginal post: no trade mentioned. I don't have anything to trade anyway. PM me or post here if you don't sell you 26" barrel and want to get rid of it. jed
  13. If your deal falls through with the first poster, let me know. Are you selling or wanting to trade? jed
  14. You need to tell him to give you the gas gun (1187) and let him shoot the pump! LOL> The gas gun will, of course, kick less no matter what recoil pad you use. That's funny and reminds me of my wife when I let her shoot the Nova, 870, M2, Citori, etc......I then gave her the 391 gas gun, which I knew was a sweet shooting gun, and she cursed at me for making her shoot the other guns. I told her she needed to understand how guns worked before she went to the Cadilac.....very funny. Now I know why I get sprayed in the dove field! Remember: a uncomfortable gun (heavy recoil) will cause a flinch, which means a jerk, which means a missed target or bird. I small flinch will throw you way off your target. You will not notice the flinch but it's there on a gun that hurts. I've been shooting for almost 50 years and still do it when I shoot my 870 Super Mag. I'm not sure of your age, but in some cases a good sign of flinching can be a sore elbow joint after shooting. Good luck and have fun.... jed
  15. Sounds like you may have a stock placement issue. That will get better with practice and someone watching you shoot. You're going to be sore no matter what you do because you are a new shooter. It will get better the more you shoot. I would not change the gun yet.....maybe it will get better. After market recoil pads are sometimes over-rated. One other thing, are you shooting clay or skeet? If on a clay course you will not notice recoil as much because you're focusing on targets and not recoil (kind of like hunting). If you're shooting cans in the back yard or someone is throwing targets with a hand thrower, you will feel every shot. If you're shooting 7/8 loads, you can't do anymore there...you just have to get use to it. Good luck.....jed
  16. I know you don't want to hear this, but that particular gun is going to have a little punch no matter what you do to it. A new recoil pad may or may not help. Consider LOP (length of pull) issues if you add another pad. It's worth a try. I had one I bought for my wife and she did not like it because of recoil. She now has 20 gauge 391 gas gun and is happy. On the other hand, it is perfectly normal to have a sore shoulder if you're a new shooter or laid off for a year. When I brought out my M2 this year for the first time, my shoulder was bruised and tender for about a week. I adjusted--you will too. If you're going to keep the gun, don't worry....it will get better.... I would let my bruise heal and then start over. Let that heal and start over. You're shoulder should be good then. Good luck

    M2 American

Yep....guess the rep and Benelli changed their minds. I saw some more in another small gun shop yesterday. That's a good thing.

    M2 American

I asked this same question on another forum, but I thought I'd ask you guys as well: I was under the impression that Benelli stop making or distributing the M2 American, but I was in my local gun shop today and he was unwrapping four (4) new M2 American (one in camo) he had just received from Benelli. He told me that Benelli never stopped distributing the American version, but now Benelli is letting the smaller dealers get them. However, I called Benelli about a year ago and the customer service rep told me that Benelli was not making anymore and what they had was all. I know Academy doesn't carry them anymore in my area. Anyone know the scoop here.....I'm looking at getting one around Xmas. thanks, jed
  19. I'm a bad shot! LOL..... That includes clay/skeet shooting as well. I own a couple dove fields as do my friends. We usually hunt about every other day somewhere throughout the season. I also have a sporting clay course set up on back half of my property. We usually get out the automatic throwers around that time of year and have at it. 1000 rounds is probably a very conservative number. jed
  20. I do during dove season. I don't keep track really but I'll probably shoot over 5 flats/cases of shells during the entire season. By-the-way, the carrier latch and spring cured my problem. jed
  21. Did it sell? If not, send me a pm and/or email. thanks, jed
  22. One other thing you might want to try first. Spray the carrier latch pivot point really good and then blow it out. You could have something stuck in there. jed
  23. If your gun is clean (including recoil spring), then my suggestion would be replace carrier latch and spring. That fixed my problem. Not sure it will fix yours. Do a search under my user name and you can see what I did to fix mine. My problem was like you described. jed
