    SBE Chokes

That helps, thanks. I was not sure because the book that I was looking at mentioned open bore, rather than cylinder. I maybe should shoot clays with a CL, or a IC, rather than an M. I actually used an IM which was way off, than I went to an M, but now I will just use a CL. I will take your advice with the slugs, but what would use use when shooting with a full choke? Is that for bird shot such as shot 8 or 9?

What is the equivalent of the open bore. Does that mean that I need to remove the choke and shoot without a choke in order to shoot with a sabot slug? Or what chokes can I use with slugs? What is CL? IC must be improved Cylinder. Is IC longer range than IM?
  3. As if we are scared of some spam, sitting here with Benelli's. We need someone who knows how the grid works.
  4. They look close to what they look like in the Benelli video with the ammo strapped on the side. I can see traces of the long gun (Super Black Eagle II), but both guns are far different looking than the R1 rifle (which has a very different look but it is quite awesome). Don't leave those beside the Fisher Price models...or else Keanu Reeves might accidentally take it to work.

I could use a better scope because although I was able to hit a target at 100 yards distance from the standing position, I couldn't see the target very well at 400 yards with a 1inch by 3.5-10x40mm scope. The person that I shot with had a much better scope, and that does make a difference, so with a bit better scope such as the 4.5-14 x 50mm size, I can go for a long shot, which is probably the safest shot as well since the rifle boots it out so hard. The rifle is a little bit scary to shoot, although the person I was with went up to the target 25 yards away and blasted two shots that sounded like thunder. He survived! Actually it seemed a bit unreal...but it was real.

Now I've tried the Argo R1 rifle a couple of times. I shot 100 rounds and I actually think that the gun is quite nice. It is slightly tricky to disassemble, but once you do it a few times it makes is much easier. When you put it together the bolt has to be pulled back half way so that the action can fit tight together. The other issue is putting the pin back into the bolt, when you do that, you just have to make sure that the bolt is fully within the slide on the barrel and not sitting outside or on top of it, but inside of the slide track, and the bolt fully extended. Those are two tricky areas. I moved much more to loading the chamber than closing the bolt with a small bit of a thud, and than throwing in the loaded magazine, and that works the best because if I don't load the chamber first and load from the magazine, the bolt has to do more work. So that is what I wanted to test, and to get right and it worked. Now cleaning did present a small surprise because after shooting it the first time I found some buildup inside the fore stock, but now I think that it might just be gun powder because it did burnish off and the gun shot just fine the second outing. I need a better scope so that I can test it shooting at a long distance, but basically I'm willing to stay with the R1. It shoots a heavy cartridge and I think that it willl hold up. I'm done shooting for this year but it seems to have survived fine. I threw on a stock cheek guard which brought up my eye line of sight into the scope an inch away from upon the stock. And of course I use a sling, and not just to carry the gun but to provide stability while shooting. The R1 barrel is fairly short on the 30-06 and it has no place to attach a bi pod. That isn't that big of a deal however because there are quite a few products out there to rest the fore stock of an R1 upon. Now if it can stand the test of time and last the five years that they claim in the warranty, than that is great. Personally I don't send in warranties (too small of an item...and it is in the USA besides) but if the gun doesn't last than I won't buy another three! Unfortunately they are a little bit difficult to get (the R1's). I can't get one at The Bass Pro Shop, even though I can get a Super Black Eagle II there, also made by Benelli. What a bunch of nonsense. The only point of support there is that the rifle is a much more powerful gun than the shot gun and you have to find a suitable place to fire it. Well, it was fun learning how to shoot that gun. Next, I'll take it hunting.
  7. Now I know what the score is with the bi pod. I also heard that it is better to rest the gun on the fore stock (since this gun does not have a dock for a bi pod) rather than on the barrel. I see that The Bass Pro Shop has the solution. It was my first shoot ever, and I burned the gun up just a bit inside the fore stock but the char marks burnished off. I don't really care but I will space out the shooting. Those you tube videos are not very good, this is not a shot gun, it is a rifle! Anyway, what a cool gun, holy smokes, was that ever a blast, does it ever rock. I'll buy another if I find that it is dependable. For me it is a starter gun although it isn't as if I am going to do a ton of shooting, but a few trips to the range every year and a yearly hunt is what I will put it up to.
  8. The magazine holds four but it looks like they want you to start with one in the chamber, so than you would have five shots if you loaded the magazine full. I shot 52 times in my first outing with the same ammunition, but it was a bit too much, and I'm going to head out again in a few days. I'll shoot around 30 rounds, but the biggest mistake I made was in not loading the chamber. I let the bolt slam five or six times. Now everything is fine it appears but that will wear out the gun, so I'll throw one in the chamber, close it nicely, and than pop in the magazine. The safety has to be on when loading. Than yeah, I'm ready. It is one sexy looking gun. I added a nice leather sling so that the rifle didn't jump up and hit me in the face. That sling looks awesome with the gun. I'll shoot at 100 yards too, outdoors, and I'll see how it performs after a hard break in of the gun; after putting 52 rounds into it. It is either this rifle or the Remington 700, bolt action. I think that this one will be fine as long as I don't let the bolt slam.
  9. I'll look into it, thanks. It is a new gun, and I shot 50 cartridges, but I now need to make adjustments and, yes, there was no way to use a bi pod, but I figured that there would be some solution! Hopefully these clamps will be easy to get where I live.
  10. Is there a bi pod that can be used with the R1 rifle?

That is what I meant, northern Ireland. I like the R1 rifle, but the MR1 tactical gun looks like it has some fighting spirit. Shoot in small bunches for accuracy, sounds like good advice.

In the movies they seem to be able to shoot automatic guns fairly easily, but in real life, are they that easy to handle? I mean in the movies they do a lot of the shooting one handed or with an automatic in each hand. I'm not so sure that it is that easy to shoot them in real life. What do you think?
  13. I was thinking that a gun safe is more for storing the gun safely but the best way to protect against a thief who wants your guns is to have a good security system in place. I'll stay away from the tactical guns, but the hunting gun that I have, sure I have it in a gun safe, but if someone pulled out a gun and asked me to open it, than I would. It's a nice gun but I can get another one, and I'm not sure why they themselves couldn't, but not everyone is able to work I guess. Well if I wanted to keep military weapons or tactical equipment, I'd make sure that I had a sophisticated security system in place first. They would be caught on video on several different cameras and several different hard drives.
  14. Here is my guesses. With what you can get in the USA you might just have to be cautious that you don't shoot the entire house down in the process of defending your self. A semi automatic hand gun is the best defensive weapon, but if you know that the attack is coming than a shot gun would be good, because if someone came around the corner and you shot a shot gun at them, there would be no way to avoid getting hit, and you could also wear some body armor. I'd might just opt to let someone steal my gun(s). They are not that expensive, and neither is anything else, but it depends upon the situation. Is someone interested in stealing or are they there to punish you. If it is the latter, than it is better to shoot them, but in most cases people just want to steal something like a car or a gun. In a situation like civil war, or a gang war, than I think that tactical weapons would be the choice, stuff like M16s. One of the things that I thought about is that if there was a civil war, I wonder how much it would make sense to be equipped for battle because it would become a very rough place to live, not like it is now where you can run to the super market.

Okay, that coincides with the instruction booklet which said that you can load three shells that are 3 1/2 inches. When I put shells in I could only put two 3 1/2 shells into the gun so it did raise a question about the magazine size. If I can get three shells in there, than I'm happy with the magazine size now, although I might look into it some more now that I know that there is a larger magazine available. If I leave the plug in there and just load 3 inch shells, maybe it will take three of them and I can leave the plug alone. At any rate, that is great information, thanks.

    First Experience

I was just trying out the gun and the 2oz, 3 1/2 was the shell size that I picked up. I am going to just get some 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. I need to get a hunting license and I'll focus on birds since the area has an abundance during certain times of the year. And that be it. The key is to keep the stock tight against the shoulder. That is why I experienced some pain to the shoulder. I asked someone at work who hunts, that is what they said. Thanks for the responses.

Yeah, that is what I wanted clarified, thanks. They offered two sizes of barrels. I took the shorter barrel. I should be able to acquire the longer barrel, but I didn't know that I could get a longer horizontal magazine (now that I know that there is no vertical magazine extension). I'll check into it now that I know what I am looking for. One thing that I did notice is that I could only put two 3.5 inch shells into the shotgun rather than 3 (having one shell in the chamber). I wasn't sure if that was because I had the smaller sized barrel. I should have took the longer barrel. Anyway, I can afford to get whatever I need. It is by no means hopeless although it isn't that easy to get just anything around here I'm sure.

    First Experience

I'll pick up a set of ear protectors and a few boxes of 3 inch lead shells. Hopefully the 3 inch will produce less recoil because the 3.5 was difficult to shoot, but than the first shot was not as bad as the second so it might have been the way I held the gun, but I think that 3 inch shells are what I should be using and 3.5 is fine when I am actually going for a certain type of bird and I want to make sure that I hit it, otherwise probably 3 better although you said that 3 is fine all around. We shall see. That will be the thing to test.
  19. I shot my super black eagle using a 3.5 inch shell and wow, my ears rang but the shot was dead on target. That was my first shot that I ever took with a gun. Than I put in some cotton swabs in my ears and I shot again and it kicked back really hard. Now I was using the lead shells. That is all I fired, just to test the gun. At least I was able to figure out of how to shoot it. I think that I did just fine, but I learned a couple of things. I should probably aim up toward the sky when shooting this gun, and second, maybe I should be using smaller shells. Is there going to be much difference in terms of a kick back with a 3 inch shell compared to a 3.5 inch shell? You see, it might seem like a silly question but I'm curious because I will pick up either some 3 inch or the 2 3/4 shells from the store, but yeah, I just went straight for the 3.5 inch and it was slightly painful. I have already started lifting weights and doing military presses.

    Shotgun Magazine

Keep in mind that this is my first gun and my training has consisted of a one day instruction where I had to learn everything about restricted and non restricted guns. When I looked at my super black eagle II shotgun it appears to me that it might be possible to use a magazine since it loads shells from the bottom. I wondered why I can't use a shotgun magazine on it. So that is my inquiry to you people who probably have much more experience. I do have a couple more questions that I can leave for new threads. I was looking for a maximum capacity of five shells since the laws where I live do not allow for more than that for a non restricted setup. Now I can search for a compatible magazine but I just don't know if it is even possible in the first place, with this shotgun.
  21. I would like to have a magazine for my Benelli shotgun, but I want to know if it is possible to use a magazine from a different manufacturer because I might have trouble getting a magazine that is made by Benelli. I called a place or two and received some conflicting information, so I thought that I would ask here.
