  1. Happy New Year! Question for those that may be running the 6PX, P2X, P3X or similar. Of importance is if you are running a flashlight which is not cross hatch finished, such as those mentioned, it will only contact the mount with slick untextured aluminium. If this applies to a configuration you have, have you had any issues with the light moving during recoil? PM me if you are running such a light, or reply here. Thank You Joel @ AVA
  2. I just pulled the grip on my c-stock vert grip and that method should work well. If wasn't so tied up with other projects, etc I'd try this myself. You would need a bench sander with a miter gauge and table adjustable for tilt so the face is square or you will need to square the face in the jig before you start sanding. A mill would of course be better, but I'd be confident I could get this to work. I have a porter cable bench sander I could do it on. EDIT: And if I did it this way, I'd mark the piece for the amount I'd take off, but I'd check it very often before I got to the line. One axis is unimportant, second axis is controlled by your miter, 3rd axis is the face being square with the sanding surface which you either do with table title or you have to square your jig by sanding it first. Only last concern is the shape of the GG*G plate. I'd have to have one in hand and marked on the grip to understand where all material would have to come off. Ideally it would appear to be inlaid on the grip and it has a shape you may have to profile with a dremel on the lower parts. Purely aesthetic though. If you get the face up top where it rests flat it will function.
  3. Might be difficult, one way I managed to sand specific face surface recently is I used a dremel to make a hollow in a section of 2x4 and put my work piece in the hollow created. Then screwed another 2x4 section to the top of that to secure it all. The hollow was less deep than the part but a smidge to make sure it could be sandwiched. The face you want to cut would stick out of this fixture and you could use the guides on a bench sander to ensure your engagement angle. However this assumes it can be rigged in the fixture level, or you can level the entire rig. More importantly that the entire face would be flat after sanding.
  4. True. But the gov says that doesn't qualify as manufacturing in the US, fingers were wagged and Benelli obviously backed off.
  5. Mechanically, do you know how you are going to remove the material? With a mill you could ensure the resulting surface and especially the edges are proper and pleasing. But access to a mill for that isn't available to everyone. If not a mill, it could be filed and sanded but it would have to be done with care of course. Glad the mount is working out!
  6. Oooh. Cool idea. I know IWC is also developing a SCAR QD as well that presumably would work in that sling loop. Interested to hear how that turns out. Shaving down the poly to accomodate that sounds like a solid plan. I presume you've pulled the parts off and looked at them to determine that you can shave them down etc? Shaving it down would prevent a gap behind the trigger guard as well. Is that PPM rotation limited? It appears so from that picture. I like SD's setup for two point sling, this might be better than the flush grip core if you have to have single point.
  7. I can't say for sure, but I don't think they offered the C Stocks by themselves even when they were selling the H20s with them, which makes no sense. What so ever.
  8. I like that Wilson QD. I have never seen it before. It is very similar to, but takes up less rail space than these similar devices: IWC: http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/45-offset-1913-rail-qd-rotation-limited-sling-mount-n-slot/ Magpul: http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG337/188 EDIT: One downside to the Wilson is it is not Rotation Limited.
  9. They can be. Changing mags in a AR vs AK, rock and lock is not as good IMO as the drop free system on ARs. There are nice mag well mods for S12 that work well. Even the Vepr mag well is not as good as the AR because of the mag release, although you can get pretty close. EDIT: Vepr-12 Furniture is mixed. Polymer Grip and hand guards may not feel great, but they are military tough poly. No issues at all. Fixed wood stock is junk. If you don't like the poly, it can be swapped out for whatever, there are fully milled aluminium quad rails out for it now. You can adapt any grip you want for it. It is a formidable beast. It can put a lot of rounds down range and it is AK reliable.
  10. I do like the ergos of the AR over the AK, I admit. You can get AR ergos though if you want on a S-12. See R&R targets. For that matter watch their videos if you want to see the down range power of a mag fed shotty. The mag length can get a bit ridiculous as the videos are 3 gun type stuff. But you can get chest rings for S12 mags if that is your gig. For pure AR egros, the TAC-12 has them. Bad-Ass safety, extended Mag release, bolt release in the same place as the AR. Mag well, etc. PLUS - as a bonus, the ergos are improved, you cannot see it in that picture but there is a non-reciprocating left hand charging handle on the the front stock. Not saying it is battle proven though. If I had to pick one and scoot, it would be my M4.
  11. Here's a bunch of em: TAC-12, Vepr-12, M4, Bullpup S12, 870 Witness Protection.
  12. I would say just like anything else, the rest of the systems would have to be adapted, but if box mag fed shotties were available people would (and have) adopted the carriage for the mags as well. Sure, only those geared for war or for a well organized offensive action are going to be geared up properly to feed a box mag fed shotty but that is no different that a box mag fed rifle. Still, I don't see tube mag fed rifles gaining popularity in tactical circles. I have both a saiga and a vepr shotgun that have been reworked end to end. I also have a TAC-12. They are great, but I'd love to see more offerings of box mag fed shotties.
  13. I haven't had any issues with any of the M4s I have had, even with the Win Uni or other Walmart Value packs. I cannot say the same for some of the other Semi-Auto platforms I have used. For what it's worth anyway. I wouldn't say this is typical of the M4. One thing to try is to put your M4 stock against a solid tree and fire the rounds through it. See if you still have cycle failures and report back.
  14. I think BW is referring to is adding a side saddle such as : http://www.sidearmor.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_48&products_id=114
  15. Compare your S/Ns via PM. See if there a lot issue.
  16. Not sure what you mean by cut off the sling attach slot. The BLAM4 replaces the factory sling loop completely. It is secured by a clip, you remove the clip, remove the factory sling loop and replace it with your modified blam4.
  17. Actually I have one I made and no longer use. PM me if interested.
  18. Correct, you get a blam4, you get a IWC Flush QD cup and you drill / chop / recoat your Blam4. There is a thread on it somewhere here, search BLAM4.
  19. You could use a QD which attaches to the top rail on your Sidearmor. I think the best positioning you are going to get with this approach will again be an IWC product like: http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/45-offset-1913-rail-qd-rotation-limited-sling-mount-n-slot/ I don't think the QD placement proximate to the top rail is ideal, I think the modified BLAM4 with QD is the better sling connection point. Outside of those options and the AVA, which as you mentioned won't be compatible with the Sidearmor, I am not aware of anything that is NOT a mag tube clamp which would then interfere with disassembly. If you don't mind that issue, then you can go with a any number of mag tube clamps which either have or you can add a QD to.
  20. Can't say for sure. I know that StrangerDanger used this one: http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-rotation-limited-buttstock-sling-mount-n-slot/ Which is less expensive. IWC stuff is always top notch too.
  21. I've never used a POF roller cam, but I wonder if it will prevent wear in the magnesium upper? If so I wonder if that benefit is worth it. For the JP - I have one of their captive spring systems as well. I love it. You going with a full weight BCG to maintain normal ops? Not going to try to monkey with saving weight there? I am considering doing an SBR 300 with my mag build. Risky given the unknown durability of a mag lower. But it would make it even lighter.
  22. Isn't BCM making a Magnesium Keymod rail? Those MagTac uppers coming anytime soon? I have my lower as well.
