1. Details on your Super Light Weight Carbine, when time's right.
2. Somewhat. There is a flat on that body where the clamp is not touching it. But below and above that flat the clamp is contacting the body and gripping it. Depending on the OD of the body, it does not just grip straight back at the 90 degree mark, the light is also bound by a very small geometric feature at the top of the clamp which prevents the light from riding too high and when you tighten the clamp the body should be forced up into it by the lower part of the clamp. I would put position that flat differently for permanent mounting, this was setup rather quickly to take pictures. I think SD and some others prefer the button further forward than right by the hand guards, so you can clamp the tailcap only as well. Obviously on any rig which you do so, you are relying upon the tailcap's interface to the flashlight to secure the light properly. A standard classic 6 with a mechanical button and not a clicky, in this situation, is a definite no go.
3. Essentially that is the way it would work, yes. Either a separate spacer and a different profile clamp, or a clamp with a integral spacer/clamp which rests on the existing flats. I have both mocked up in CAD. The mount could stay the same, just different clamps/spacers for different ODs of both body or bezel.
4. You should be GTG with the Maelstrom. My guess is that it won't be able to properly clamp the body because the larger OD of the tailcap will interfere, so you will position it so all the clamping force is on the tailcap. As mentioned I can send one to you no risk, if interested just email me at Joel @ AVATactical.com and I will get you setup.
5. Yes sir, 1.75 would be too large of a bezel. PXX lights at ~1.37 have been mounted but I can't advocate it since I built it for proper clearance with 1.25" bezel. It's possible to make mounts for larger bezels but I have yet to get enough interest to do so. Volumes are low on the M4, and the mounts are not cheap as is so I tried to go for the most popular dimensions first. Joel
6. NOOOICE. I have an 8 y/o girl, so I get to see this quite often. It's heart warming. That site / light looks interesting, can't remember where I saw them first on some blog. Any feedback on it? Merry Christmas
7. TD - Sorry I did find the product page a few minutes back, the specs page says:

DIMENSIONS Length: 5.47 inches / Diameter: 1.24 inches / Weight: 3.26 oz

However, I suspect that diameter is the bezel max OD. I can't be sure but body looks like it would be a fit. If you have calipers or a micrometer you can get that OD, tailcap and body. If you're interested in testing fit with the mount I can get one out to you, no risk. Joel @ AVATactical.com
8. Hey TD. Do you have a picture of your light and do you know what the body and tailcap diameter are?
9. Certainly true. I'd say there are no such examples though, BECAUSE removable box mag fed rifles are almost invariably in support of those with shotguns in a fire fight. In those examples where someone with a shotgun is in battle with out support of those with a rifle I'd bet dollars to donuts that man with the shotgun damn well wished he had a box mag fed shotgun. If you are not putting rounds down range, you're a dead man. The reality of SD situations is very few shots are fired before the fights over. However those are famous last words if you ever empty your gun and your adversary is still mobile. Statistics mean nothing at that point.
10. Removable Mag Fed Shotgooons... I don't disagree that being competent and feeding your mag tube is a must, but I would say feeding mag tubes is a tactical issue through and through. There is a pause to feed which is longer than the pause to drop and replace a mag. You can train to reduce this lag, but it is there no matter how much you train. Don't get me wrong, I love my M4. I do. There is a reason you don't see tube fed battle rifles.
11. For example, here is the end of my factory SBS Barrel:
12. Some eforms have been popping in 3. I've used trusts, which means I didn't need CLEO but that doesn't work everywhere. Pretty soon all routes may need CLEO. The end of my factory SBS barrel is shiny. Which I think is what may have been refereed to. Yours appears to have a finish. I thought I had read speculation that the lack of finish on M4 SBSs was because they were imported as full length and cut state side. While that's possible, the SBS barrel does have an entirely different profile than a standard barrel. So even if it is imported as full length and then cut in the US, it is still not a standard barrel that is cut it is specifically for the SBS.
13. Really Nifty! Please ensure skipping over me for the drawing, I just wanted to say what a warm gesture this is.
14. Nice looking SBS!!!! Let me know what light you end up with, saw the other update as well. Did you try a light that did not work btw? SBS brings a clearance issue with the SBS barrel profile and front barrel hanger. Is your aimpoint getting a riser or is the height correct as is? I don't have an aimpoint on my m4, but I heard people having problems with larue risers, so I wasn't sure if you were going to / needed to run a riser.
15. A few mentions: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/12/18/ava-tactical-benelli-m4-mounting-system/ T9 Gear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVxE4p4t2Dc Tactical-Life http://www.tactical-life.com/firearms/shotguns/ava-tactical-benelli-m4-mounting-system/
16. Two Flashlights? 2 is 1, 1 is none is real!
17. That's greatly appreciated sir. Referral traffic to the AVATactical website from Solider Systems has pretty voluminous.
18. Thank You. I am working to gauge interest in that area as well. For the forum discount, I did offer a discount on the first twenty units sold to forum members, but I had to limit the quantity as it put me under water. I wish I could extend that to everyone but it's just not possible to do so.
19. Hey Now. That's awesome. I have touched base with a number of blogs, made arrangements with demo units, etc. I know of a few upcoming blurbs, articles, etc, but it seems to be slow going. I haven't spoken with anyone from Solider Systems to my knowledge. Very glad to see it. Thanks Solider Systems and thank you to anyone who may have brought to their attention.
20. Might consider that just to get to Shot again, but it's a pretty small market. Anyone can buy a gun. Anyone with a rail can buy a rail accessory, etc. Only those with a M4 can buy this, and only a small portion will. You know the drill. What I am spending 80% of my effort on at this point is getting it in a major catalog. Keeping my fingers crossed on that. Have first choice looking at it now, then will look at others if that falls through.
21. The Grunt - I haven't had a quality LED light fail on a 12 guage. In fact, I have some Solarforce LEDs and other off brands on some shotguns - no issues. I think you'll be fine. Surefire may have some changes to the weapons lights, if a big concern you can get the KE2-A emitter head (which was built for weapons, plus a L4 Lumamax for the body. Surefire makes shotgun forends for 12 guages, so there is that.
22. Not quite yet. I did send an email a few days after I sent it, but I haven't pressed further yet. I do appreciate it. I will follow up after the new year if I don't hear back, I know the holidays are very busy.
23. I am making some inroads on this, I have a major catalog looking at them. I've had a number of LEO's make inquiries and purchases. I am having a hard time finding someone in LAPD. If you are with the LAPD please email me at [email protected]. If someone can put me in touch with someone in an appropriate position at LAPD, please email me and I will make it worth your time.
24. Those are pretty cool. I was thinking about getting one for the T1 I have on my Noveske. Hadn't occurred to me in quite some time though as I have yet to have to change the battery!
