Hookster
Hey All, Not sure how long it's been out, it says it's new...Anyway, I just noticed this tonight while on my quest for the perfect M4 light setup. Surefire now makes a 500 lumen model of the X300...The X300 Ultra! http://www.surefire.com/x300-ultra-led-weaponlight.html Sorry if this is old news but it's new to me... mjsses
Hey hookster,, I like the Hellfighter with 380 lumen output. the pressure switch is nice and definetly water proof.(I use it to snorkel clean my pool lol) . Just sharing, i bought it off amazon it came with a gooseneck mount. I'll post a pic later. I liked the sure fires but the price scared the crap out of me. Just sharing... also 1 thing to think about.. too much lumens and you blind yourself if you hit a reflective or white surface. I know just a quick flash from 380 and i see a large purple spot for about 2 to 3 minute. Mike
Case
Hey Hookster, Thanks for the heads up. You're right on time with this because it just went on sale. It was announced a while ago but wasn't available for purchase until very recently. 500 lumens is a lot. I have the x300 and it is very bright at 170. It is odd that the ultra isn't available from the surefire website. They must be filling the back orders first. I'm waiting on buying one until I get a light mount for my m4. The surefire hq is about 10 mins from my house. Maybe I should stop by? : ) -case

benelliwerkes
I hope they don't discontinue the Scout lines completely. The Mossberg has the M300 scout mounted. The Benelli M4 has the M620 Scout mounted. The X400 with a pressure pad is Scout-like. The SBR also has a Scout M620 mounted. benelliwerkes
Looks like I am going to have to sneak one of those X300-Ultra's into the house.....wish SureFire had an obsolete product upgrade exchange program for all their xenon !.....they actually do have LED head upgrades (xenon to LED) available for a lot of their now discontinued lights, but just the head is almost as much as the new LED version flashlight. It's nauseating to have a pile of money tied up in flashlights that still work well but are obsolete technology. A partial list of now old money below. marc63
It's like buying the whiz-bang 3D T.V. and then finding out the 4D T.V. just came out!
Sukhoi_fan
also 1 thing to think about.. too much lumens and you blind yourself if you hit a reflective or white surface. Mike I find that 200 lumen is about the limit for me, backsplash from a mounted 200 lumen scout light can definitely adversely affect my night vision. Hookster
Hey Sukhoi! ...yeah I run red filters on most of my weapon lights. They quickly flip up and out of the way if I need white light but offers good protection against degrading my vision once it has adapted to the dark Later, Hookster :-)
