dreadnaught_
Hi ... new to forum and the M4 platform. Recently bought a NIB M4; weapon was assembled for display (but never cycled) and was dissassembled / repacked. I found some sort of a part loose in the box (pictures attached). I mean it was literally loose in the box -- external to packaged components. I'm trying to ascertain what it is and whether it is a part from the weapon, or if it is something the fell in the box when being repacked. Have referenced the parts list / manual / online references, and assembled the weapon (but not field-stripped), and I am 99% positive that this part does not go with the shotgun. Like I said, I am new to the platform, and I'd value any second opinions for others who are more familiar. Thanks in advance, dreadnaught_
StrangerDanger
I've disassembled almost every portion of the Benelli M4 except for the ARGO plugs and the ejector. I do not believe that pin is part of the M4.
smeck
Could it be the Firing Pin Retaining Pin?
M4-Desert Camo
Could it be the Firing Pin Retaining Pin? Sort of looks like it ..... OP, is it chrome in color?
M4Whore
I do believe the firing pin retaining pin has a much smaller stem and the "head" has a flat cut side.

AC45ACP
It looks like a Mossberg 930 Bolt release retaining pin...... Edited February 21, 2013 by AC45ACP
dreadnaught_
I appreciate everyone for taking a look and for your input. Am relieved that consensus seems to support my initial findings. @ smeck -- Pretty sure its not the firing pin retaining, for reasons M4Whore stated. @ M4-Desert Camo -- It's not chrome ... flash made it look brighter than it really is. @ AC45ACP -- Will pass that along and let you know if you're right! Thanks again everybody!
